With the kind help of ten mums and their children (including, we think, at least a couple of mumsnetters) pre-school TV channel, Cartoonito, recorded a new rendition of 'My Favourite Things' from The Sound of Music with Myleene Klass at the piano. To see the finished product click here

Cartoonito now want Mumsnetters to tell them about your favourite and least favourite things about parenthood. Everyone who contributes will be entered into a prize draw to win one of two £100 Mothercare vouchers. Click here to hear what other mums and dads have said already.

Thanks

Worst thing: When they are ill and you can't do much to take away the pain.

Best thing: that first thing in the morning smile from a baby

MyCatsAScarierBastardThanYours · 12/10/2009 19:10

Best thing - looking at life and its wonders afresh with your child who is looking and learning for the first time (the amazingness of the sea, leaves turning brown, the tiniest flower - all stunning when your a child and never seen it before. It's great to be reminded of those wonders).

Worst thing - the constant 'on duty' feeling where you never have a moment that is totally yours

GwarchodwrPlant · 12/10/2009 19:47

Best Thing: The strongest feeling of bonding and love you will ever experience when you see your baby for the first time.

Worst Thing: The fact that you are constantly judged by everyone for everything you do.

liahgen · 12/10/2009 19:48

best - 2 yr dd telling me, I love you more than chocolate

worst - not being able to make everything better every time.

whomovedmychocolate · 12/10/2009 19:54

Best thing: the sound of them laughing
Worst thing: the sound of them yelling at 4am.

MinkyBorage · 12/10/2009 19:55

Best: being utterly, totally and permanently in love with them

Worst: Worrying about them

stirlingstar · 12/10/2009 20:12

Best: Watching (ok, snooping on) them at play and seeing their imaginations develop. A mixture of hilarity/pride/love when I do this!

Worst: Never ending housework - running just to stand still

Meglet · 12/10/2009 20:12

Best thing - When they play together nicely and I can hear them giggling (at that point I usually make a quick run for the loo in peace)

Worst thing - the worry and never being able to relax.

MegBusset · 12/10/2009 20:23

Best: The fun. My two just make me laugh and laugh all day long.

Worst: Never being able to have a lie-in!

missorinoco · 12/10/2009 20:34

Best - spontaneous giggles from your child

Worst - constant guilt that you are not quite parenting as well as you could, and knwoing that you never will

choosyfloosy · 12/10/2009 20:49

Worst - feeling that it was the most selfish thing in the world to have a child - my son's only 5 and already I feel I have made so many mistakes I can never undo.

Best - the laughs - my son just tried to get to the fridge without me hearing - ended with us both doubled up with giggles.

Sazisi · 12/10/2009 21:08

Worst: having to be responsible, all the time, forever

Best: giving and receiving unconditional love

DevilsEnticeMadness · 12/10/2009 21:10

theDeadPirateRoberts · 12/10/2009 21:28

ThingOneofYourNightmares · 12/10/2009 22:06

Worst - The utter exhaustion of six years of not enough sleep

Best - The sound of two little boys chatting together in their room before coming to wake mummy and daddy up with cuddles. It's a lovely sound even at 5am.

mooki · 12/10/2009 22:12

Worst - no mummy, no!
Best - I luff you mummy!

possibly in the same sentence, I have a 2 year old.
