Hi Mumsnetters! December has finally arrived, and it’s time to dive into all the festive family fun...

Once again, Uniqlo’s beloved HEATTECH range is here to keep us warm and ready for the season! Whether you’re heading to a Christmas market, singing carols with the kids, or setting out on a family walk, staying cosy and comfortable is key to making the most of winter adventures.

We'd love to hear about your favourite winter plans and how you keep the family cosy during outdoor adventures. Have you tried layering with Uniqlo’s HEATTECH? What are your go-to tips for staying warm while on the move? As the saying goes, “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing!”

If you’d like some inspiration, check out Uniqlo’s Heattech Range and let us know your favourite pieces in the comments! For example, we love this Heattech Cashmere Blend T-Shirt which is super soft, extra warm and comes in 6 beautiful colours; perfect for layering on cold days! Designed with ultra-fine fibres to provide lightweight, effective warmth, HEATTECH thermals are a great way to keep the whole family warm.

Here’s what Uniqlo have to say:

A classic Christmas here with the family. Heating will be turned down as normal, so we will be playing how many jumpers can you put on in the afternoons!

Looking forward to relaxing on Boxing day under the electric blanket, some rubbish tv and a hot chocolate with a double dash of Baileys and Amaretto!

ladyluck13 · 05/12/2024 15:37

We're doing a Christmas Enlightened trail soon, so we will be layering up with thermal socks n leggings n wellys to go trampling. My toddler is gonna be so excited

FromCuddleLand · 05/12/2024 15:45

Christmas Eve we usually walk around the neighborhood to a house that has the most amazing display and lights. For a small donation they have father Christmas, a snow machine, hot chocolate etc. it's honestly magical. And so many local families go. It raised thousands of pounds every year for charity.

violentknight · 05/12/2024 19:26

Layers and Christmas jumpers, Christmas market, Carol Service and cosy family get togethers with delicious food and mulled wine - oh and the school Christmas Fairs

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 05/12/2024 19:37

Christmas markets
Christmas lights
Festive walks
Ice skating

As long as you're togged up, it should be fun!

RamblingEclectic · 05/12/2024 20:06

We've already done the annual ice skating where one daughter gleefully whizzes about, while the other insists on coming too and then wants to sit out ten minutes in (she did get back on this time and tried really hard, bless her, it just happens every time). The skating around warmed us up nicely, followed by hot chocolates.

Once my oldest is back home, we've a few activities planned including winter walks, some photo re-makings, a new VR place to try out. The most popular way to keep warm among my teenagers is fingerless gloves with the mitts that go over them and winter hats with massive bobbles.

Princessfluffy · 05/12/2024 21:42

Winter lights at our local botanic gardens. Wet this year so wearing baggy corduroy trousers and rainproofs.

Will also do a Christmas street fair wearing my new red cashmere hat scarf and gloves.

Ice skating with a down gilet and heated gloves, furry headband.

Making mandalas out of leaves in the woods wearing a down coat, thermals and a balaclava.

TabloidFootprints · 05/12/2024 22:08

Outdoor ice skating - gloves, hats, scarfs...and mulled wine for the grown ups

dottyaboutstripes · 06/12/2024 09:55

I love the simplicity of dresses so thermal tights are are go-to!
We like to mooch around a Christmas market, enjoying the atmosphere and maybe a cheeky hot toddy :)

RunningKatie · 06/12/2024 10:00

DC1 is going on a trip abroad so we've stocked up on warm hats, gloves and coat.
Over Christmas we'll be doing lots of dog walks so will be wrapped up warm whilst going to see lots of Christmas lights.

pentaplanet · 06/12/2024 13:52

Off to west Wales to a little rented cottage very near to the sea. Plenty of woollen clothes to keep us warm!

GeminiJen · 07/12/2024 20:04

Huge fan of HEATTECH. Last Christmas, my daughter gifted me a thermal top, leggings and socks. I was toasty warm all winter and a convert! As a family, we love to go on long walks. The whole family is getting together for Christmas. At 80, I'm the oldest, with two more grandparents and ranging through son, daughter and partners in their 40s and 50s, to four active teenagers. We really enjoy each others' company and look forward to spending time together. We've booked for a panto, ice skating, carol singing and a light trail....There will be lots of walks with the dogs, whatever the weather. And it wouldn't be Christmas if we didn't fall out over Monopoly! So looking forward to it 😁

Apfelkuchen · 07/12/2024 20:05

Winter walks on the beach, wrapped up warm, then back to the car for hot chocolate 💜

Threeboystwocatsandadog · 08/12/2024 01:56

We are in the Scottish Highlands where the weather can get particularly cold. I’m not so mobile these days so if I’m heading out I have to be well wrapped up and find that short bursts of activity are best. This time of year most trips outdoors are dog walks and more likely the woods than the beach. The beach is best in slightly warmer weather.

PerambulationFrustration · 08/12/2024 02:49

We do lots of outdoor activities and love walks in country parks and forests.
We go ice skating and walk up to the library for a bit of exercise and books.
We'll invite friends to meet up for walks. A flask of hot chocolate and a pastry helps too.

MrsFrTedCrilly · 08/12/2024 10:07

Il be layered up to survive our cold house and eating cheese

dreamerz · 08/12/2024 10:18

we are seeing Father Christmas on Christmas Eve. And tonight there is a sleigh procession around our village!

we will need to dress up warm in lots of layers

HouseholdBubblesandEeeeek · 08/12/2024 21:25

As I’ve got older my legs feel the cold more so I love these warm leggings

I wear thermal tights under trousers to keep me warm when out and about. I still go for walks in the winter as long as I’m wrapped up and love visiting Christmas markets 🤶

I’m planning to go skiing with my family after we visit the Christmas markets. I’ve already bought some gear, and I hope it won’t hurt too much when I fall!

QuirkyOpalPombear · 09/12/2024 08:42

We will be going on winter walks, going to our local light trail and of course visiting Father Christmas!

CleansUpButWouldPreferNotTo · 09/12/2024 16:50

Lots of layers for our evening walk round the neighbourhood to see everyone's festive light displays.

Am probably too late for the gift card draw but am enjoying reading about other posters plans for festive outdoor winter entertainment.

Gingerkittykat · 10/12/2024 22:46

We will be going to the Edinburgh Christmas Market, which is absolutely beautiful. We will also visit the UNIQLO store on Princes St, which is just opposite the market.

My DD loves UNIQLO and has bought a couple of nice tops and the crossbody bag. I will have a look at the thermal leggings as I am always freezing at this time of year!

JennyWreny · 10/12/2024 22:55

Christmas markets / interrail trip

Will need lots of layers. DD has already purchased from Uniqlo because apparently they have a better choice of colours than anyone else.

HowDidThisHappenDinesh · 10/12/2024 23:15

For us it’s our annual Boxing Day walk in the woods (followed by a mulled wine!)
I live in heatech rollnecks all winter, my office never gets warm enough to go without them.

LongTimeSinceLastPosted · 11/12/2024 07:27

Warm socks for me and extremities covered for the kids - hats, gloves and scarves are a must for the winter walks
