The person who puts an item in the laundry basket is responsible for making show there are no tissues etc in the pockets!

We have two laundry baskets: whites and colours, and a separate small area for delicates. Each laundry basket is the capacity of a load of washing, which makes it easy to decide when to use the machine.

I use a plastic box with a lid on that fits in my cupboard at the side of my washer for dirty washing, (I think baskets clutter a room). My washing never piles up because I do it every day if possible, I use an airer that fits on my radiators if it's raining. I must admit I love frosty mornings because it never seems to rain and I feel that frosty mornings are the best days to dry all the washing especially for drying the bedding and towels etc

i recently bought a small dehidifier with laundry mode, put wet clothers on an airer in my kitchen turn it on cheap to run, loads drier, then just finish off what i can for short time in tumble dryer time in this is greatly reduced by using the demidifier,i dry outside for as much of the year as i can.

Just curious, but did anyone win the £200 voucher? I checked out the winners corner but couldn’t find this competition listed.

HearMeSnore · 31/12/2023 08:24

I put a traditional airer in the conservatory on sunny days in the winter. It gets warm enough in there to dry laundry, and it's out of sight until I'm ready to do the ironing.

make the most of the kids enthusiasm for helping with sorting laundry while they are young. Sadly it doesn't last forever! But when older, I still insist they help with matching up and pairing socks together as it is that which seems to take the longest when sorting the dry laundry. We are lucky enough to have an airing cupboard which doubles as a space to store bedding and towels when not in use so that helps with space saving.

I never knew there was a winners corner and cannot find it? Would you mind telling me where it is please. Thanks.

@Hoolahoophop it’s the link that @SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything has posted above.

It is referred to as the winner’s corner in the T&C linked in the Op. It was pretty hard to find so thanks @SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything for posting a link.

Copy and paste from T&C:

  1. Entrants can find out who has won a particular prize draw by looking at our ‘Winners Corner’ in the Competitions Talk board on the Mumsnet website; only the Mumsnet username will be shown of the entrant (email addresses or real names will not be visible).

The winner of this one has not been included in the winners corner - perhaps they are yet to be identified. @MaddyMumsnet

I make sure I do washing and ironing often so that big piles don't accumulate. I also leave each child's clean clothes on their own bed so they are responsible for putting them away. All similar items (black tights, white knickers etc) have a colour coded stitch in the waist so that they go to their respective owner.

lillypopdaisyduke · 08/01/2024 15:28

@MaddyMumsnet has the winner been announced on this ?? - or can you please update the winners thread :)

Sandiegodreaming · 10/01/2024 14:11

Socks are kept in a communal basket to save time sorting them

Ilostmyhalo · 27/01/2024 15:56

@MaddyMumsnet hi maddy is this thread closed now - have we got a winner on this one (I have not commented yet)

StickChildNumberTwo · 28/01/2024 20:34

In case it's not closed.... Everyone has a laundry basket in their room, or can put stuff straight in the machine (eg wet swim kit). Mostly it's a case of keeping on top of it. I do almost all the laundry - I was away last week and could tell my husband had done a load while I was away as it had been tipped out of the dryer straight into the washing basket with no sorting. Proved to me that my shake, fold, pair socks and put in two separate piles in the basket (parents/kids) saves a LOT of time when it comes to putting it away!

@MaddyMumsnet

MaddyMumsnet · 08/02/2024 10:15
