We love to go to the London dungeons!

JulesJules · 04/08/2023 09:17

A walk along the South Bank. Go into the Globe - love the guided tours there. Loads of choice for places to eat, eg Gabriel's Wharf. Walk over river to St Paul's and get the river bus back.

British Library and the British Museum

Mine are pre- teen and teen and love

The science museum
Eating - so all the restaurants! Especially sushi restaurants as we don't have any locally.
The South Bank - wandering around as there's always something on there like skateboarders or music.
The open top busses!
Shopping!

Swallowdoubleandrunamile · 04/08/2023 10:36

We love a wander through Hyde Park, the lido is great, as are the boats.
We treat ourselves to a fancy picnic, usually sushi and people watch.
Big fans of the National Gallery too.

The Grant Museum - it's like a mini Natural History Museum without the crowds!

voyager50 · 04/08/2023 17:57

Sorry - the full title is The Grant Museum of Zoology, it's in Bloomsbury.

THe big favourite for 5 - 8 year olds was to take the DLR from Bank to West India Key and then a trip to the Docklands Museum - quick run around the museum and then go and play in the Mudlarks gallery (needs pre booking) which has lots of fun activities like loading packages onto a ship so it doesn't capsize/building canary wharf tower out of cube cushions/delving in gravel to dig up hidden objects etc. Picnic in Cabot Square afterwards watching the world go by.

Tweens and teens liked picking out their lunch at Borough Market, playing on the organ at London Bridge Station (like the street pianos in other stations but its an organ so much more fun) and a trip on the Uber boat.

We love to go see the dinosaur exhibits at the Natural History Museum.

We've had lots of great times at pop-up events like the Morph Trail running at the moment.

DaisyDando · 04/08/2023 18:21

The best thing for me is the Tate Modern because I like it myself and also, there is always something marvellous going on for kids, especially in the Turbine Hall in the summer holidays.
When you come out, you can have a stroll along the Southbank and spend very little money if you bring a sandwich. Although I am a fan of the sneaky pizza. I also love the BFI for cocktails and a nice sit down with a film.

LydiaWalker93 · 04/08/2023 18:33

Madame Tussauds! Or the food markets!! Greenwich food market is my personal fave!!

Potterbore · 04/08/2023 18:38

Taking a ride on one of the open top tour buses followed by a boat ride on the Thames.
Madame Tussauds
Eating and drinking in Chinatown
Walking along the Southbank
The postal museum - a great ride on a postal train underground
The Museum of London (when it was open) - great range of exhibits
A walk and play in Hyde Park
The Science and Natural History Museum
The ice cream parlour in Harrods

The theatre, so much choice and beautiful theatres in London. We went to see We Will Rock you yesterday and we have tickets to Wizard of Oz in a couple of weeks.

We also love London Zoo and the parks. Hyde Park is a favourite with Princess Diana memorial fountain a must visit on a hot summers day.

Casimira · 04/08/2023 19:34

Oh gosh! So much! British Museum, Natural History Museum, Tate Modern... South Bank for watching the world go by... all free, but then we tend to blow that by visiting the Lego Store in Leicester Square...

MerylSqueak · 05/08/2023 09:42

We had great time at the Hornimann Museum. There's a tiny petting zoo, lots of space to run around and have a picnic. The main exhibit is the stuffed animals but downstairs is an exhibit of cultures around the world and it's fantastic.

DanBenandBud · 05/08/2023 10:59

A walk down the west bank - particularly in the evening where all of the entertainers come out, and the street food is served, the London eye, and the museums

kannnet96 · 05/08/2023 11:07

We love a walk along bridges. Seeing if we can cross them all

jacqui5366 · 05/08/2023 11:27

A trip to the globe, or a cruise down the Thames, a walk around the natural history museum.

LittleDeeAndME · 05/08/2023 11:34

Definitely Madame Tussauds - buy a multi attraction ticket and you can do the London Eye and a trip down the Thames

Mum2be5756 · 05/08/2023 11:41

My baby is only one but a few places we like to go:
Alexandra palace boating lake
Snug cafe on green lanes which has a play area and great food
Hamleys
Paradise wildlife park
Birch Community Hotel

Montydoo · 05/08/2023 11:41

A trip to the theatre - there's so many to choose from - and as the theatres are quite small, if you get the cheaper seats you still get a good view of the stage - and a memorable experience - then go for dinner somewhere amazing - even the street food on a warm night or a maccydees is lovely in the Capital

ZombieBeryl · 05/08/2023 11:43

I recommend Coram's Fields in Bloomsbury. It's a lovely gated playground and adults are only allowed in if they have a child with them. It has lots of play areas to suit different ages and a little cafe (though I don't think the cafe is open all year round). Free to enter but donations are welcome.

ohdannyboy · 05/08/2023 13:22

It's expensive - but the Tower of London is a great afternoon out - and there is a great fish and chip shop outside. Or ANY of the London parks

HobNobAddict · 05/08/2023 13:27

Watching the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace - check for the times as they can change - Green park is lovely to have lunch, and a ride on The London Eye

caz123456 · 05/08/2023 13:33

My teen loved the museums, and my 8 year old loved the Shrek attractions.
