Traditional cold and flu season may be behind us, but memories of how a cold and flu make you feel won’t be. Whether it’s a sore throat, blocked nose or a full blown fever, there’s a product out there designed to help with the symptoms. With that in mind Lemsip would like to hear about the ways you usually manage a cold or the flu, what type of products you use and what makes you choose them.

Here’s what Lemsip has to say: “we understand that every person and every cold is different and our aim is to help you treat your symptoms and yourself the best way possible. With this in mind Lemsip would like to learn more about why and when you reach for certain cold and flu products.”

What do you usually do when you start to feel unwell? What do you find helps the most? Are the solutions you like the ones that make you feel physically better, or those that keep your spirits up while you’re under the weather? What do you use to help keep the symptoms at bay so you can get some much needed rest overnight? Do you find natural remedies help? What would make you reach for a hot drink remedy?

Whatever your tips for managing colds and flu, share them with Lemsip below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Lots of lemsip, plenty of hot drinks and fresh air! Works wonders x

mumsophia7 · 13/08/2020 07:45

A little bit of chest rub on my chest and my feet - yes the soles of my feet! I do this at night and it really helps me feel much better in the morning.

ReallyBigPlans · 13/08/2020 11:36

A hot bath with some eucalyptus oil or vicks in an oil burner, then rest and lots of water

Redruby25 · 15/08/2020 22:34

Rest when I can, I know, easier said than done with little ones to care for. I take a daily dissolvable vitamin c tablet which makes a nice orange drink. I make my own hot drinks which consist of a mug of boiled water with at least half a fresh lemon squeezed in, and a nice dollop of raw honey, as I often get some sent to me, for aches and pains etc I will usually take some paracetamol. And I like to use a decongestant nasal stick for when things get worse if I need to.

EsmeeMerlin · 16/08/2020 12:44

I try to take vitamins in the colder weather, and try to eat a lot of fruit and veg. In an ideal world, I would rest and take care of myself when I have a cold. In reality with children, however I have to carry on but I try and make changes like cooking an easy dinner, letting the children watch a film and try to go to bed early.

I usually take Lemsip as directed on their packaging along with some tea Brew whenever I have the cold or the flu. I also make sure to have plenty of sleep and rest with a good book to read.

goldenretriever1978 · 20/08/2020 20:43

Just to keep well hydrated and rest where possible.

Pimmsypimms · 28/08/2020 20:05

Stock up with lemsip, decongestant tablets and paracetamol.
I also make sure I have plenty of berocca in as well as loads of soft tissues!

Teabird · 29/08/2020 08:45

Vicks on the feet of babies and young children.

Smile13 · 29/08/2020 08:52

What do you usually do when you start to feel unwell? Go to bed earlier to get rest, eat as healthily as possible and stop other commitments. What do you find helps the most? Rest! Are the solutions you like the ones that make you feel physically better, or those that keep your spirits up while you’re under the weather? Both. I love to read so will relax with a good book when I don’t feel 100%. What do you use to help keep the symptoms at bay so you can get some much needed rest overnight? We actually always use lemsip during the day and the cold and flu night remedy at night. Do you find natural remedies help? Yes, with paracetamol definitely help to sleep. What would make you reach for a hot drink remedy? We tend to use them during the day and add honey.

KANNET · 29/08/2020 19:33

Lemaip tablets then bed. Best way

Frolicacid · 29/08/2020 19:37

Eat plenty, rest & stay hydrated

Ashton08 · 29/08/2020 20:51

The first thing I do when the Autumn weather sets in, is to take Echinacea.
It works every winter and touch woood, I have escaped the flu and colds 🤞

Twigaletta · 30/08/2020 20:00

Don't keep going. Take a rest. Take it easy. Also take a cold and flu tablet (I can't use Lemsip Power caps as they have E102 colouring in them which I'm sensitive to). Day/Night Nurse, Beechams or Sainsbury's own don't have that colouring in. But take something because it makes you feel more human. Also Kleenex Balsam tissues. Best thing ever to prevent you from getting a red nose.

CrocodileFondue · 31/08/2020 00:43

Lemsip Max Cold & Flu tablets and loads of Baileys in my coffee.

AltheaThoon · 31/08/2020 20:16

I loved the blackcurrant lemsip growing up and that's probably the flavour is go for now if I were to have one. Generally speaking, though, I tend to take paracetamol in tablet form and drink hot blackcurrant to soothe a sore throat. I dislike any products with caffeine in because they keep me awake (I know this is the point of them!) and also cause mild palpatations. I'd sooner treat any aches with paracetamol and try to get as much rest as possible, rather than powering through. Rest is such an important part of healing.

Orange juice, good box set and my duvet!

Summergarden · 02/09/2020 17:07

I swear by Sudafed. A pharmacist once told me he takes nothing else for a bad cold.

CloudyVanilla · 03/09/2020 15:21

I struggle with the bitter taste of paracetamol but I have to have Lemsip when poorly.

My secret trick to feeling better is this - take a couple of the Lemsip capsules and wash them down with my go to poorly drink: hot black earl grey tea with extra lemon juice and lots and lots of sugar. I absolutely swear by it!

30under · 03/09/2020 21:10

Hot orange juice! Plus or minus honey. It washes down the paracetamol nicely.
It's a treat for poorly days

MojoJojo71 · 03/09/2020 22:14

To be honest I normally just get on with it, single parent do not much choice., maybe take paracetamol if I felt I needed it and definitely tissues with balm or my nose gets all red and chapped.

The one time I had the actual flu I was in bed for over a week and had to get friends to take DD to school for me. I took paracetamol and ibuprofen as often as it was possible. Everything hurt! ☹️

Hollieh89 · 03/09/2020 23:54

plenty of drinks and rest, soft tissues! Vicks on the bottom of your feet then covered with socks works fantastic for the cough that keeps you awake at night!

Pillowaddict · 08/09/2020 13:51

Olbas oil, lemsips and fishermens friends, as well as hot baths, cosy pjs and furry blankets. Fresh air also good, as is lots of hot drinks. I like very weak earl grey tea with honey.

lillypopdaisyduke · 08/09/2020 14:29

An echinacea tablet, vicks vapour rub on my chest, hot soup, and if I can - an early night.

Baboutheocelot · 08/09/2020 14:33

If I can’t rest in bed the I use paracetamol, lots of hot drinks and tyrozets. Then night nurse to help me sleep. Last year I had sinusitis and I found sterimar spray to be really good.
