Traditional cold and flu season may be behind us, but memories of how a cold and flu make you feel won’t be. Whether it’s a sore throat, blocked nose or a full blown fever, there’s a product out there designed to help with the symptoms. With that in mind Lemsip would like to hear about the ways you usually manage a cold or the flu, what type of products you use and what makes you choose them.

Here’s what Lemsip has to say: “we understand that every person and every cold is different and our aim is to help you treat your symptoms and yourself the best way possible. With this in mind Lemsip would like to learn more about why and when you reach for certain cold and flu products.”

What do you usually do when you start to feel unwell? What do you find helps the most? Are the solutions you like the ones that make you feel physically better, or those that keep your spirits up while you’re under the weather? What do you use to help keep the symptoms at bay so you can get some much needed rest overnight? Do you find natural remedies help? What would make you reach for a hot drink remedy?

Whatever your tips for managing colds and flu, share them with Lemsip below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Husband always goes straight for Lemsip when he feels a cold coming on, which will be a few times over the colder months.
Personally, I try to avoid medication unless it's from the doctor, so if I feel ill I just increase my fluids and eat lots of raw ginger (which is a regular food I eat anyway) and vegetables. I am rarely ill, and it's quite a few years since I've had a cold.

I’m a massive fan of Lemsips. As soon as I have a feeling of a cold, I take one mixed with some orange squash and a dash of ginger tea. Not to everyone’s taste but I love it.

Home made vegetable soup with onion, leek, celery, carrot, parsnip, red pepper, butternut squash, sweet potato, white potato, loads of mushrooms, red, green and yellow lentils and sweetcorn. Really nutritious and delicious.
Plenty of vitamin C, get some rest and maybe a hot toddy - maple syrup, lemon juice, whiskey and hot water.

Getting out in the fresh air and exercising outside if possible I believe is the key to preventing and or removing from winter coughs and cold.

Usually I have a blackcurrant lempsip and crack on!

If I'm at home it'll be scrambled egg for lunch and a blanket on the sofa. My father is famed for his Death of Nelson act when he is ill, I've taken after him Grin.

I use the lemsip sachets in the day and before bed, I make a toddy with lemsip sachet, juice of at least half a lemon, honey to taste and a drop of whisky or brandy. Works every time. Only use Kleenex balm tissues (anything else and I get sores up my nose) and I take a lysine supplement if I feel like I'm getting a cold sore tingle. Olbas oil on my pillow and vicks on my chest if I need it. Luckily I'm not poorly too often! Smile

The lemsip powder drinks really work for me, I take them from first symptom to the end of a cold. I'm not sure what's in them that works but they really do make me feel better, less achy and good pain relief. I like to go for relief for physical symptoms rather than comfort. I have a friend overseas who always asks me to bring her lemsip when I visit!

I like the blackcurrent Lemsip. I make one in a flask to take to bed so when I wake in the night, I don’t even have to get up. And proper cotton hankies.

For kids and adults plenty of pocket tissues.

For young ones, a paramedic told me to put a strepsil in a cup, pour in hot water, let it melt, cool it and pour it into some juice. He had croup and it works to help relieve them.

I have a hot drink, usually tea, with a couple of paracetamols, and use Olbas Oil when my nose is 'bunged up'

If I start to come down with anything I always start taking a Vitamin C and plenty of fluids and always a hot Lemsip before bed because it does help me sleep better.

My husband swears by Lemsip as the answer to everything - you can tell he's feeling under the weather when the smell permeates the house.

Paracetamol, hot drinks and cosy time in bed watching some trashy TV is my ideal way to deal with a cold - unfortunately with a preschooler and a toddler who've usually got it too it's not usually that restful!

Hot water with lemon and honey as well as hot water with a dab of vicks to inhale over a bowl

Hot baths, as much rest as possible, lemsips with an added slice of root ginger and sometimes a swig of whiskey.

Lemsip and plenty of hot squash. Keep drinking lots of fluids and sucking on throat sweets. A hot shower before bed, ultra balm soft tissues and cosy pyjamas!

I do oil pulling and gargle with salt and water first thing every morning.
If I feel down, I prepare some ginger soup with onion, garlic and chilli pepper.
If none works, I will have a Lemsip and a good night's sleep.

I like a homemade honey lemon and ginger drink as well as my trusty lemsips. I also always go for Covonia cough medicine as my Granny swore by it
