Gaviscon Advance range is indicated for use during pregnancy, in addition it isn’t absorbed into your bloodstream to work. Gaviscon advance works by forming a protective barrier on top of the stomach contents which helps prevent the acid rising into your food pipe.
Medicines can affect the unborn baby. Always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking any medicine in pregnancy.

Eat little and often, not too much sugar and cut down on the caffeine and alcohol.

Hertsgirl75 · 26/10/2019 08:36

Dilute the apple cider vinegar with water and drink it after your meal. my auntie swore by it and it really does help!

AR2012 · 26/10/2019 08:39

Cut down on acidic and fatty meals. Use gaviscon when necessary.

Milk easing the burning of heartburn. Eating small light meals and try and cut back on stodgy foods, alcohol and caffeine

suzyq50 · 26/10/2019 08:55

I tend to control mine by diet so avoid alcohol & fatty food especially close to bedtime. Fresh ginger tea helps me also.

addverbaan · 26/10/2019 09:04

Avoid the pickle onions lol. I love them but they give me terrible heartburn. I find milk and gaviscon help a lot

kamaxtra · 26/10/2019 09:05

If I'm about to have a large meal or go out for drinks, I'll always pop a preventative Gaviscon beforehand. It usually makes a difference. I also try to line my stomach first with soothing foods such as banana, brown rice, etc. before consuming particularly acidic foods or drinks.

Milk and being a bit propped up in bed

minkeymonkeys · 26/10/2019 09:07

A midwife told me to drink soda water as it helps neutralise the acid ???
I think small meals little and often help.

glynda · 26/10/2019 09:13

A glass of cold milk always helped me.

Having suffered from IBS for many years, Heartburn was one of the symptoms. Keeping a food Diary helps you see what can trigger this and in doing so cutting out certain foods can keep it at bay. However it never goes away completely, Gaviscon is my constant companion, I usually get it at night, 2 Tablets before settling down normally gives me a good night's sleep. Some tips on eating to help alleviate the symptoms sometimes works, these include eating small meals, and chewing all food before swallowing,

maryandbuzz1 · 26/10/2019 09:19

I find that if I eat too late in the evening I am more likely to get heartburn so we always try for an early meal. I have also tried sipping a glass of milk which does seem to alleviate the symptoms.

ThemisA · 26/10/2019 09:29

Not eating too much at once, sitting upright, taking Gaviscon or equivalent

lolamia91 · 26/10/2019 09:35

kagglen · 26/10/2019 09:41

Spices001 · 26/10/2019 09:42

Luckily I’ve only had heartburn when pregnant, milk & gaviscon were my lifesavers!

angela121262 · 26/10/2019 09:53

Gaviscon, smaller meals, peppermint and hot water

lizd31 · 26/10/2019 09:59

I suffer terribly with acid reflux & despite taking protein pump inhibitors & Gaviscon nothing helped so I recently sent for intolerance tests with a deal on Groupon, Intolerance lab was the company. I sent a few strands of hair with the roots intact & in a few days got my results. So many food, non food & e number intolerances as well as vitamin deficiencies. I cut out all my intolerance foods & the products containing the non food ones such as toothpaste & moisturisers with xanthan gum in & within two days my digestive problems had eased so much & the swelling & burning had gone completely.

Ganne1 · 26/10/2019 10:03

I can only recommend getting something from the chemist's. There seem to be no natural, tips-from-my-mother remedies. Gaviscon is fine!

LycanGav · 26/10/2019 10:34

My wife suffered terrible heartburn in all 3 of her pregnanies. Gaviscon and mints helped somewhat

sheilads105 · 26/10/2019 10:38

Cutting down on alcohol & fatty foods (especially at night) really helps. Try to eat slowly too rather than on the run. Heartburn is very painful and it is often a direct consequence of diet & lifestyle.

amyhalliday1 · 26/10/2019 10:50

I really struggle and try and avoid spicy food and drink lots of milk

jtl1131 · 26/10/2019 10:51

Sipping milk, eating yogurt, smaller meals, nothing too spicy or greasy, staying upright and not eating too close to bedtime were all the things ive stood by over the years 😍🤞

NICH7 · 26/10/2019 10:53

I suffered from heartburn only once quite some years ago. I took the medicine and felt fine afterwards. Fortunately I don’t suffer from this illness any more. I am not stressed, have a balanced good diet and do regular exercises. It’s rather a standard comment but these are the keys for one’s wellbeing. I strongly believe in this.

julieef · 26/10/2019 11:08

I have awful heartburn I take Omiprozole and gaviscon Advanced, but not eating chocolate helps
