Fruit is a key component of a healthy diet, and making sure your kids eat enough of it can be a challenge. It can take countless attempts to convince your child to eat some, and getting to a point where your kids don’t dismiss the idea is no mean feat. With this in mind, Nice by Nature would love to know all the different ways you get fruit into your kids’ diet, and how you encourage them to eat more of it.

Here is what Nice By Nature have to say:
“At Nice By Nature we’ve created a new range of delicious fruit ice lollies! They are made from 100% fruit and absolutely nothing else! In fact our lollies always contain:
- 4 ingredients or less
- No added sugar
- 22-24 calories
- Contributes to your five-a-day

Your kids might call them a snack or even a treat, but you can think of them as a fruit bowl in your freezer!

From talking with mums and dads, we know that it is not always easy getting the food we want into our kids' hands, let alone their tummies! We simply believe that nature has its own store cupboard, a world of wonderful ingredients in the fields, forests and orchards. The good news is that Mother Nature is happy to share!

Visit our website and follow us @nicebynatureuk to find out more!"

Have you come up with a crafty way to get your kids to eat more fruit? Have you managed to persuade your kids to see fruit as a treat? If so, do you have any techniques you could share? Or maybe this isn’t necessary and your children are already very good at eating lots of fruit?

Whatever your ways of getting your kids to eat more fruit, share them on the thread below, and feel free to add a picture or video to accompany your post - we’d love to see these!

Everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Strawberries and blue berries put in Jelly, Fruit pieces in their bottle water and when it's nipple time a Big chunk of Cucumber pealed is so refreshing,

iloveadsxx1 · 07/08/2019 21:14

Always pack lots for school, they also have a fruit bowl for snack at school!

I put fruit out at breakfast times ( Strawberries, blueberries)

KimDraper77 · 07/08/2019 22:17

Cutting fruit up into shapes. It only takes a little longer, but if it means they’re eating fruit then it’s worth it!

'Pick your own' fruit farm trips are always popular (not had much luck with growing our own!)

And making our own smoothie ice lollies! We have those silicon calyppo tubes which are much better at preventing a sticky mess than the usual moulds!

A lot of the reluctance with fruit is I'm the looks etc. Good preparation removing skin on pears do coring, chopping out imperfections works a wonder

AngelwingsPetlamb · 08/08/2019 12:47

My ds really isn’t keen on fruit or veg. The only way I get him to eat more fruit is by making fresh fruit lollies, or offering fruit flakes with lunch.

moom54 · 08/08/2019 13:52

i make veggy gravy for the little ones who don't want to try baby trees (broccoli!)

dannyelle · 08/08/2019 13:52

Pureed fruit smoothie ice cream pops and sorbets are always a winner, or incorporated into cakes (banana, carrot, beetroot, sweet potato)

Thiswayorthatway · 08/08/2019 13:57

My DC live fruit and need no encouragement to eat it as they understand the importance of a balanced diet.

itsabongthing · 08/08/2019 14:43

Thankfully mine are pretty ok with eating fruit, why wouldn’t they be it’s sweet and delicious! I try to get them to have whole fruit as I think that’s better than smoothies etc
We try a wide range of different things and I buy in their favourites which include bananas, apples, grapes and berries.

It’s also a great option to offer when they ask for a snack in between meals.

Smoothies and home made fruit lollies

WarmHugs · 08/08/2019 20:57

I lead my example, and my DC see me eat a lot of fruit. They always want to eat what I am having.

mishknight · 08/08/2019 21:29

I don't buy too many non-fruit snacks (biscuits, sweets, crisps, cakes). These are just for a treat, no and again. So if my DD says she's hungry there is only fruit available so she eats it

Whyisitsodifficult · 08/08/2019 22:04

Chopped fruit always seems to be more appealing to my kids. So I chop up a mixed bowlful and they like to eat it with a kebab skewer? Sometimes I add some melted chocolate to dip it into.

OnlyToWin · 09/08/2019 07:00

I have found mixing fruit into A sugar free jelly really works well. One of my dds eats lots of fruit - the other needs encouragement.

Demimac1919 · 09/08/2019 10:01

We used fruits like bananas and mashed apple when weaning. My daughter will basically eat anything of she thinks it's mine or her daddy's so we simply take an apple or any piece of fruit and take one bite... she instantly wants it and eats the whole thing. Sometimes we play one bite for mammy one bite for you and so on :D

Vegetables on the other hand... help!!

MrRichTea · 09/08/2019 11:38

We've been quite lucky, they seem to of warmed to most fruit

jazzitup · 09/08/2019 11:40

We always make sure we have a good variety of fruit in the house and try and buy new fruits when available, no forcing, just enjoying.

beckyinman · 09/08/2019 12:59

Try new flavours and textures and invest in some cookie cutters- things always look better when star shaped

liane1987 · 09/08/2019 13:24

I serve it up as a smoothie, my kids love it and get 3 portions of fruit & veg from one :-)

jan9876 · 09/08/2019 15:05

my 7 year old is a nightmare and has a very restrictive diet. i buy puree fruit and mix it into her pancake mix!! works a treat

NicHay · 09/08/2019 18:32

We often have a fruit platter, a selection of fruit laid out invitingly - sometimes with cocktail sticks. If we all eat it together it becomes the norm

thesockgap · 09/08/2019 21:13

My kids baulk at the idea of picking up a piece of fruit from the bowl and eating it, but they will happily slurp down a smoothie or milkshake made with blended up fruit of pretty much any variety.

DavidHolland · 10/08/2019 00:02

Luckily for me, my kids love fruit and veg!

They expect their meals to contain veg and often ask for fruit as a treat (mainly mango and bananas and grapes).
