Fruit is a key component of a healthy diet, and making sure your kids eat enough of it can be a challenge. It can take countless attempts to convince your child to eat some, and getting to a point where your kids don’t dismiss the idea is no mean feat. With this in mind, Nice by Nature would love to know all the different ways you get fruit into your kids’ diet, and how you encourage them to eat more of it.

Here is what Nice By Nature have to say:
“At Nice By Nature we’ve created a new range of delicious fruit ice lollies! They are made from 100% fruit and absolutely nothing else! In fact our lollies always contain:
- 4 ingredients or less
- No added sugar
- 22-24 calories
- Contributes to your five-a-day

Your kids might call them a snack or even a treat, but you can think of them as a fruit bowl in your freezer!

From talking with mums and dads, we know that it is not always easy getting the food we want into our kids' hands, let alone their tummies! We simply believe that nature has its own store cupboard, a world of wonderful ingredients in the fields, forests and orchards. The good news is that Mother Nature is happy to share!

Visit our website and follow us @nicebynatureuk to find out more!"

Have you come up with a crafty way to get your kids to eat more fruit? Have you managed to persuade your kids to see fruit as a treat? If so, do you have any techniques you could share? Or maybe this isn’t necessary and your children are already very good at eating lots of fruit?

Whatever your ways of getting your kids to eat more fruit, share them on the thread below, and feel free to add a picture or video to accompany your post - we’d love to see these!

Everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

I chop it up so it's easily accessible to pick at. My children also love the novelty of little boxes of raisins , and the pure fruit bear snacks!

lostbadger · 05/08/2019 21:00

Stew it down with a little water - they love it :)

kimbers85 · 05/08/2019 21:14

I dont have to persuade my kids to eat fruit as we have always had fruit in our house so it comes naturally for them to eat it. On the other hand we struggle to get vegetables into them so I do what I had done to me by my grandma and i hide them in their mashed potato. it goes down a treat

towser44 · 05/08/2019 21:37

We generally don't have a need to do anything specific. Our DD will quite happily pick a piece of fruit as a snack rather than a packet of sweets. Not sure where she gets it from as the OH and me having a very sweet tooth!

Pinklady1981 · 05/08/2019 21:39

Homemade fruit smoothies. Grow your own fruit, kids love to get involved and try. We go to pick your own farms which is always good for kids.

sarah861421 · 05/08/2019 21:51

have them easily avaible, plenty of variety, and lead by example

hmariez · 05/08/2019 22:00

Set a positive example, have lots of fruit to try, eat snack as a family.

Lheath · 05/08/2019 22:00

I like to try and add it to as many meals as possible. For example, I'll add blueberries, raspberries or strawberries to their cereal, or I'll make an apple porridge. If their having ice cream or custard, again I'll add strawberries

We always finish our meals with some fruits. Never had a problem my kids eating fruits. Try different fruits, so that they don’t get bored with the same fruits. Having said that, the choice is rather limited in winter as I try to encourage them eating whatever in the season - both fruits and vegetables.

MrsFig · 05/08/2019 22:05

My DD has always loved fruit especially berries and oranges. The main one we struggle with is bananas, so we give these to her in mashed banana sandwiches.

MillyVanilli222 · 05/08/2019 22:13

I use a mixture of different coloured fruits to make the plate look super exciting, cut up small to be easily digestible.

vixxx666 · 05/08/2019 22:36

Regular trips to the greengrocers with the choice of pick anything you want have worked for us! A piece of fruit or veg is usually less than 50p, cheaper than a bar of chocolate and with all of the different choices and less pressure the kids are happier to try new foods because it's under their control.

freefan · 05/08/2019 22:43

Teach by example has always been the way I have done it as well as introducing a wide variety of fruit and veg from a young age, and (touch wood) they all like a wide range of each.
I've never really understood the need to hide fruit and veggies in things as I think kids should know exactly what they're eating and have a say in mealtimes, but this is course is just my opinion :)

lhlee62 · 05/08/2019 22:52

My kids love fruit, they eat tons of it, but recently they have eaten even more as we've been going blackberry picking. I think the novelty of being able to pick their own makes them eat even more, we went strawberry picking last year and they loved that too.

AR2012 · 05/08/2019 23:02

yogurts and fruit pots

rachelmccraith · 05/08/2019 23:23

Make ice lollies with real pieces of fruit inside

Seccles0690 · 06/08/2019 00:01

It's important to introduce fruits as young as possible as soon as they can be weaned make pures or frozen lollies from different fruits blended together when you introduce finger foods chop fruit into smaller pieces they can't choke on and let them explore with as many different fruits as possible

Minnibix · 06/08/2019 00:05

I have never had a problem with the kids eating fruit but they do tend to prefer the soft fruit and berries rather than an apple of pear so i will chop up an apple and they have apple chunks that they can dip into a mini yogurt, they love that as a pudding

zeddybrek · 06/08/2019 00:16

I tell lies!

Strawberries make you run faster, kiwi makes you jump higher etc

It works, DC age 5 and 3 eat every fruit, including all the exotic ones like pomegranate, which of course are pirates jewels and guava which makes you skip faster!

patchysmum · 06/08/2019 03:19

We blend fruit and freeze to make lolly's in the summer, add it to porridge and cereals, make fresh fruit salads. We vary the fruit according to what is in season and always have a fruit bowl available

pandoraskids · 06/08/2019 08:50

make smoothies with them

misskatamari · 06/08/2019 08:50

My kids love fruit, I don't think I know many who don't. We've always just given it as an option and they adore it.

TheGirlWithGlassFeet · 06/08/2019 09:52

We have lots of fruit. Fruit is a pudding so after lunch and dinner they have a bowl of fruit. They love it!

finleypop · 06/08/2019 10:15

I have never had to coax my son to eat fruit & veg. We gave him every variety when he was weaned, with no junk at all & he has grown up choosing to eat a healthy diet

Helsbells68 · 06/08/2019 10:27

We mix fruit together in a fruit salad letting them pick out what they did not like though they actually ate some without realising it.
