Fruit is a key component of a healthy diet, and making sure your kids eat enough of it can be a challenge. It can take countless attempts to convince your child to eat some, and getting to a point where your kids don’t dismiss the idea is no mean feat. With this in mind, Nice by Nature would love to know all the different ways you get fruit into your kids’ diet, and how you encourage them to eat more of it.

Here is what Nice By Nature have to say:
“At Nice By Nature we’ve created a new range of delicious fruit ice lollies! They are made from 100% fruit and absolutely nothing else! In fact our lollies always contain:
- 4 ingredients or less
- No added sugar
- 22-24 calories
- Contributes to your five-a-day

Your kids might call them a snack or even a treat, but you can think of them as a fruit bowl in your freezer!

From talking with mums and dads, we know that it is not always easy getting the food we want into our kids' hands, let alone their tummies! We simply believe that nature has its own store cupboard, a world of wonderful ingredients in the fields, forests and orchards. The good news is that Mother Nature is happy to share!

Visit our website and follow us @nicebynatureuk to find out more!"

Have you come up with a crafty way to get your kids to eat more fruit? Have you managed to persuade your kids to see fruit as a treat? If so, do you have any techniques you could share? Or maybe this isn’t necessary and your children are already very good at eating lots of fruit?

Whatever your ways of getting your kids to eat more fruit, share them on the thread below, and feel free to add a picture or video to accompany your post - we’d love to see these!

Everyone who does will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

It's a daily struggle getting any kind of veg or fruit down my little girl but the thing I found best was to give it with ice cream!

Spices001 · 05/08/2019 14:49

Lucky that we’d try most things, if I needed to use something up & I knew they weren’t keen, I’d hide in yoghurt

emmmaaa26 · 05/08/2019 14:51

Having it in for them to snack on.
Picking your own when its in season.
Not making it an issue - e.g if you eat this then you can have...
Smoothies.

We like give our DC smoothies every day, which helps their intake. We also involve them in the food shopping and encourage them to choose which fruits they'd like to eat.

At the moment my kids love cut up strawberries and Cherries although these can be quite expensive. In the hot weather I gave been making a number of different fruit and vegetable smoothies and the kids seem to love them.

we have no problem getting my DS to eat fruit as we grow lots in our garden. He loves helping himself when the fruit is ripe

xcxcsophiexcxc · 05/08/2019 15:13

We love making smoothies! It goes down a treat, sometimes we even get a vegetable in!

Ganne1 · 05/08/2019 15:51

Just make sure a variety of fruit is there in front of them, and eat it yourself as well. But make sure you listen to any comments about fruit they don't like ... not every child likes every fruit (just be thankful they like some varieties ... if they do!).

We put it in foods at home: jelly and i use it in cooking instead of so much sugar content, e.g fruit pie.
Cook together with fruits and that also help, kids love to eat what they've cooked themselves.

IonaAilidh11 · 05/08/2019 16:09

we always let kids pick new fruit every week

pootler74 · 05/08/2019 16:23

I serve up a plate of fruit (and raw veggies) while I'm cooking dinner and call it the 'first course'. My son is usually hungry enough to wolf them down.

katieskatie82 · 05/08/2019 16:32

i always arrange fruit in the shape of a smiley face on the plate. It really encourages my lil one to eat the fruit!

LeeR1985 · 05/08/2019 16:36

I've never struggled with this, I made fruit a part of our regular eating habits when she was younger and its always been that way :)

kaycm25 · 05/08/2019 17:04

We make smoothies/juices with the fruit though my kids (usually) have fruit without protest.

Catmadroo · 05/08/2019 17:44

My son loves fruit, he has it almost with every meal and loves a bowl of fruit so don't need to try any other ways of getting fruit into him

foxessocks · 05/08/2019 18:12

My daughter likes the five a day thing at the moment actually, she likes trying to get to five or more and it's also making my son do the same as they are competitive!! Also banana pancakes!

ricola1 · 05/08/2019 18:15

Make an ice cream sundae with strawberries and kiwi. My kids love it

wjanice121 · 05/08/2019 18:50

I always find that cooking with fruit (and veg) peeks their interest. Following a recipe and learning about the ingredient(s) were cooking with. They were then more keen on trying the fruit in their raw form.

redbook · 05/08/2019 19:52

My DS eats loads of fruit so if anything I need to curb his intake. I do add veg such as spinach, kale or courgette to smoothies and ice lollies to up his veg intake.

we grew strawberries and it made my youngest more interested in trying different fruits

StickChildNumberTwo · 05/08/2019 20:20

My kids are better at eating fruit than I am, it's mainly a case of remembering to offer it as an option. Having said that, they're very good at declaring they don't like the fruit they scoffed a whole pile of yesterday...

ShowerOfShite · 05/08/2019 20:34

A favourite here is fruit kebabs. The DC pick from a bowl of chopped up fruit and thread onto wooden skewers. They love it.

Mumtolittletorchers · 05/08/2019 20:47

My two daughters love fruit but a fun way to get them to eat is to get them to help chopping it up. Things like making silly faces makes it more fun.

liz1970 · 05/08/2019 20:55

Always have fruit around so it is not an issue and they are encouraged to eat it :)
