We all have memories etched on our minds of the happy times we spent as children - before we grew up and had to start adulting. Summer days filled with light, joy and carefree fun. Maybe for you it was long afternoons playing in the back street, and the sound of the ice cream van, or perhaps it was a visit to the seaside where you spent happy hours building a sandcastle or discovering crabs in rock pools. It's these kind of memories that make childhood special, and perhaps now that you're a parent you're planning to re-create them for your own family. If so, Kinder Ice Cream would like you to share your memories and inspire others.

Here’s what Kinder Ice Cream have to say: "KINDER is now entering the world of ice cream, bringing to KINDER fans the care-free, summer feeling that ice cream stirs up, together with three tasty treats, for families to choose from – the delicious KINDER Ice Cream Stick, the convenient KINDER Ice Cream Sandwich and the iconic KINDER Joy Ice Cream."

What are the memories that stick in your mind and have a special meaning? What are the things your parents did that you'd like to do with your children? Maybe you built a kite with your mum and then took it to the park and watched it soar! Perhaps you remember your first trip to the cinema and the smell of popcorn and ice cream? Did you build a fort out of cardboard boxes in the garden with your dad and then take great pleasure in smashing it to bits?

If you have a favourite summer memory you'd like to re-create for your children, share it on the thread below and you’ll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

My wonderful Grandma used to have a beautiful long, formal garden with lots of large trees. My brother and I and our friend JoJo and Catherine used to build enormous dens with blankets, string and pegs and put a bell by our door. We played board games, coloured and read in there and Grandma used to bring us Shepherd's pie with home grown runner beans and glasses of chilled lemon squash. I have done the same with my children and other children I have looked after and am delighted that they love it as much as I did:)

playing out late in the street with all the kids from the neighbourhood then sleeping in a tent in the garden - always felt like such a huge adventure!

I grew by the seaside so summers were spent on the beach building sand castles, collecting shells, crabbing, punch and judy shows and numerous other seaside pastimes. It was idyllic and looking back I was very lucky to have grown up living by the coast and in a time when mobile phones etc were unheard of!

I loved building dens and camps and climbing trees when I was my daughter's age and I try to give her lots of opportunities to do this. I love coming home after a fun day out somewhere and feeling like we've both had a good dose of fresh air :)

I would love to recreate our holidays in Devon for my children. Visiting the beach with our bodyboards, wearing fluorescent sunblock on our faces, eating ice creams and fish and chips x

littlemonkeyz · 01/04/2019 13:52

We used to have hens and ducks and I used to love going to collect the warms eggs every morning with my dad. I used to help to feed and clean the hens too and it was really exciting to incubate the eggs and watch the chicks hatch.

Emmax12 · 01/04/2019 13:55

Going to country houses and gardens and playing ball games then having a picnic

SocksInPeril · 01/04/2019 14:03

We used to go fairy hunting in the woods when I was very little. My grandma told me they lived in the bluebells. I'd looking forward to doing that with my son now he's getting a bit older.

gd2011 · 01/04/2019 14:04

Day trips in the car with massive picnics. As children we didn't know it was because we couldn't afford to eat out/

moosexxx · 01/04/2019 14:23

That feeling of endless, timeless, summer holidays that go on forever. Summer days playing in the fields without a care in the world.
