This activity is now closed

As parents, it’s almost a right of passage to have at least a few nights where your child just won’t settle down for bed. They’re either still a little hyper from the day’s events, they don’t feel like sleeping or they’re just restless. That’s why Moonlite would love to know how you get your child to relax and calm down before bedtime.

Here’s what Moonlite have to say: “Moonlite makes bedtime stories come to life, with full HD story images and in-app sound effects to make the reading experience immersive and magical for children. Feed and fuel children's imaginations and bring back the love of reading through a creative, immersive storytelling and bonding experience.”

Watch this video all about how the Moonlite Storytime Projector can help you at bedtime:

Is it a classic bedtime story coupled with cosying up in bed that does the trick? Perhaps you find having quiet music playing in the background helps them calm down and feel sleepy? Do you try to get them into the same bedtime routine every night so they know when it’s time to wind down? Have you managed to find the blackest of black-out blinds? Or maybe a nice relaxing bath and getting into their cosy PJs tends to help?

However you get your child to relax before bedtime, post on the thread below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

No sugar or tv before bed. Bedtime story and a bath usually works

Clairecricket1 · 11/10/2018 06:47

A nice bath then we read together

barbsbarbs · 11/10/2018 06:50

a flow of bedtime stories, hot milk, and a semi dark room always works.

Bath, warm milk, dim lights, big cuddles and a great book always do the trick in my house

Lindseymorris29 · 11/10/2018 07:07

Bath, cuddle low light cuddles stroking hair then when upstairs low light again and a bedtime story. Then i lie in bed and stroke his head again. He feels relaxed and loved. Then zzzzzzzzzz

a relaxing bath, reading time aand a cup of lavender tea. no tech for one hour before bed either

SSCRASE123 · 11/10/2018 07:15

Some quiet time having a snuggle/cuddle in front of the TV before bedtime and then a routine for bedtime and a story from one of us works perfectly for us.

TracyKNixon · 11/10/2018 07:18

A bath followed by some quiet time eg listening to a cd with stories/bedtime songs on or reading and a warm drink. I don't allow my children to play on technology or watch tv for at least an hour before bedtime.

maryandbuzz1 · 11/10/2018 07:38

Our bedtime routine is always the same. A warm bath and the a bedtime story. If after that he doesn’t go to sleep I put on some soothing music.

joanna1985 · 11/10/2018 07:41

I have a 4 and a 6 year old and we get toast and milk at about 7pm, teeth cleaned, in mummy’s bed for a story each then a cuddle in their bed and lights out at 8. When the kids were really small I had blackout blinds, lullaby’s , nightlights , white noise. Nothing worked! Shock x

Daffodil2016 · 11/10/2018 07:46

Sanders75 · 11/10/2018 07:53

A warm bath, low lights and stories usually works!

flozza42 · 11/10/2018 08:13

I think it's important from an early age to set a routine for bath downtime and bed. I did this from when my children were babies so they knew then that after story time was bed, never had any trouble settling them down for a full nights sleep.

kellywheelhouse01 · 11/10/2018 08:15

I always give my 9 week old a relaxing bath, followed by talcum powder and moisturiser before snuggling him in his sleeping bag for bed

Lisapaige24 · 11/10/2018 08:33

Bath
Pyjamas
Cuddle and a story

smchadwick · 11/10/2018 08:39

Even as they get older routine still the same bath teeth read story I still read with my older kids

Ganne1 · 11/10/2018 09:02

Play with them, read to them, even play computer games if they're fun and educational. Reading is best though.

footdust · 11/10/2018 09:07

I keep the routine at bedtime the same as much as possible - bath or shower, teeth brushed and then a couple of stories . DD(5) then drops of quite quickly but nightlight has to be left on.

frankywds · 11/10/2018 09:17

bath and some light solo reading seems to keep mine calm

abby12321 · 11/10/2018 09:18

We read 3 stories as we cuddle up, they choose one each and either agree on a third or I pick it x
