This activity is now closed

With the summer holidays fast approaching, it’s almost time to spend some much needed quality time with the whole family and for some this means jetting off on holiday. However keeping your DC entertained whilst on holiday can be a bit of struggle especially if your DC has an unlimited amount of energy! Neilson would love you to take a look on their website and choose your favourite holiday activity from their collection, as well as sharing your staple holiday activities.

Here’s what Neilson have to say: “Neilson was born from a passion for all things active, our award-winning beachclub holidays in Croatia, Greece, Italy and Sardinia are packed to the rafters with inclusive activities, from windsurfing to wakeboarding, tennis to mountain biking – all with qualified instructors and free tuition thrown in. We have inclusive kids clubs for all ages from two, right up to 17 years old with activities including kayaking, sailing, tennis and stand up paddle boarding! There’s even a crèche for our youngest guests.”

Which activities would your family love to try and why? Have a look on their website here and let us know on the thread below.

We’d also love to know what your go-to family holiday activities are? Perhaps your family love anything water based such as sailing, kayaking or swimming? Maybe you’re more of a biker family and often hire out bikes for the day to explore or maybe you’re more adventurous and go off-road mountain biking? Or does your family enjoy relaxing on the beach, building sandcastles and soaking up the sun on a lounger?

Tell us which Neilson holiday activities you love the look of, as well as what your go-to family holiday activity is and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Has to be the stay and sail activity, because this is an activity I have never seen, experienced, or expected to try, I love the fact that it is aimed at beginners, (like me) and in 4 days you can learn a new skill which may change your choice of holiday for the future. After all we are all a nation of sailors ! I am sure my family would love love love this experience.

Sammyislost · 28/06/2018 09:46

I've always wanted to try water skiing! It looks like a lot of fun. There's a lot to choose from!

Helspopje · 28/06/2018 17:26

Husband - road biking
Me - mountain biking, climbing, kayaking, SUP (and a bit of pool lounging and nice eating and drinking)
Dd1 (8) - not sure any more. She turned into a hotshot and now we only see her in passing usually dangling off a boat
Ds (5) - swimming, cycling (get diddy frog bikes please), bouldering, badger club games
Dd2 (1.5) - looks like she inherited the danger gene too so doubtless she will end up dangling off a trapeze on a catamaran any minute

All of the above is why we go Neilson every year. See you in Sardinia waves

We love walking. Good quality planned walks with points of interest and safe places to rest, relax and refuel would make our planning far easier.

Itscolderoutside · 28/06/2018 19:44

Walks....and the ridiculous unexpected conversations that develop along the way!

We looked at the website together, and my DS chose windsurfing - which I must admit would not have chosen, but after reading the blurb and -yes I'd give it a go, children have a really good balance and i think would take to it 'like a duck to water' It would be great to do something as a family, learning a new skill, being able to laugh at our 'fails' and encourage our triumphs at staying upright.

Sleepysausage · 29/06/2018 07:35

We love going on walks together. We'd love to do a sailing course

Sweetpotatoaddict · 29/06/2018 07:59

My children would love being in the sea urchin club, they both love an adventure and would tackle any activity that the club provided. Meanwhile me and dh would make use of the kitesurfing or the tennis facilities. When the kids weren’t in club we’d take them swimming, it’s a favourite with both children. The activity selection for Neilson holidays looks fantastic

BikeRunSki · 29/06/2018 08:36

Mountain biking.
We do a lot of mountain biking as a family - even the 6 year old - and would love to go somewhere warm and sunny to do it! DS and I also love to swim, and could both swim all day. I used to rock climb and take my children to the local wall, but don’t have the confidence to take them outside, despite living on the edge of the Peak District! So we’d love to try a Neilson holiday, there would be something for all of us!

Megansmumsie · 29/06/2018 11:26

I'd choose sailing, any thing with a boat involved- the sea or a harbour! I've spent a lot of time around them- in my younger days- and I don't think there's any thing more free or fun. My daughter likes the look of rock climbing.

My daughter loves anything that teaches her something new so we spend a lot of time in museums, galleries, information centres- thank fully though a lot of these places are surrounded by beautiful country side or beaches, think Portland Bill Light house- which entails a lot of walking, we're walking people. We like the adventure of walking into the -relatively- unknown! We also live in the pool which I desperately need after all that walking as I have mobility issues. We try to get into the pool before we head out on holiday and hopefully back in once the day is done. We love the beach, swimming in the sea and -at least I do- building sand sculptures!!

prettybird · 29/06/2018 11:37

Cycling in Greece - although not mountain biking. We even took a bike with us one year, so dh and ds could share the "good" bike (ds was a very keen road cyclist) while dh and I hired bikes locally (even though the bike we took was mine Confused) while we went exploring.

Have been on a Neilson sailing holiday in Porto Heli (also at the same place when it was run by its predecessors): it was great. Smile I'd highly recommend them.

mitalmanda · 29/06/2018 13:28

I'd give anything a go and love trying new things with my daughter on holiday, there's the usual biking and swimming, but love the look of the Neilson holiday activities....kayaking, wind surfing & paddle boarding. But my budget usually relies on what's in the area during our staycation, and is also weather dependent, otherwise it's costly cinema/bowling/meals out/arcades. Love a a picnic on the beach...buckets, water pistols, fossil hunting, shell painting.

EsmeeMerlin · 29/06/2018 14:56

We love swimming as a family and my older ds would spend ages in a pool. A decent swimming pool is a must when choosing a holiday for us. If it has children’s slides, sprinklers etc, all the better.

We would not really choose many of the other activities as with a baby, one of us would have to stay with the baby, while another did the activity with our older son whereas we like to do more all together.

Amber0685 · 29/06/2018 16:21

Tennis, swimming and would love to try dinghy sailing (probably with an instructor to start off). Kids love kids club so while they were there I would be in the spa and wellness centre!

Justwantaquietlife1 · 29/06/2018 19:41

We love everything beach! Our 12, 10 and 7 year old love to kayak and paddleboard in the sea. They have all done some Scuba Diving which they love too. Sea fishing is a big hit!

smilesweetlyandcarryon · 29/06/2018 23:04

We love to do a mixture of activities - long walks, swimming, kayaking, fishing as well as relaxing on beach and investigating rock pools!

bridgetosomewhere · 30/06/2018 12:29

We love going on holiday somewhere warm. Dd and I like going riding while at home or abroad and dh and ds go quad biking.

We love visiting water parks, animal parks and historical sight seeing - strangely my kids don’t mind this at all!

Swimming, walking, picnics, lazing about in the garden together messing about with water!

We also like going to the beach and do this a lot at home as it’s just down the road
