NOW CLOSED

It can be difficult to ensure that clothes always smell good - especially if you have messy toddlers or teenagers that leave P.E kit in bags for weeks. Fairy Non Bio would like you to share your tips for making sure your clothes smell great.

Here’s what Fairy Non Bio has to say: “At Fairy Non Bio, we know that even if you have very sensitive skin, you still want that freshly washed smell on your clothes and fabrics. We have perfected our formula on our detergents and fabric conditioner so that you don’t have to compromise on either. We want to know your tips for great smelling clothes!”

Do you have a way of storing your clothes that means they don’t pick up nasty odours between wash and wear? Maybe your family has a laundry routine that prevents clothes from ever reaching a smelly stage? Perhaps you have a favourite product that’s become your family’s signature clothing scent?

Whatever tips for making sure clothes smell great, share them on the thread below and you will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for a store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Line drying

jen1984j · 29/05/2018 14:16

you cant beat line drying for a fresh smell

kamaxtra · 29/05/2018 15:17

Using the right dose - I use to underdose (thinking I was saving) but it just didn't do the job as well. Then of course hanging clothing to dry.

ThenBellaDidSomethingVeryKind · 29/05/2018 15:53

It has to be line-drying. I use fabric conditioner too, but it never lasts as long as the fresh outdoorsy smell 🙂

helly27 · 29/05/2018 16:04

A good soap powder and conditioner and a good all blow out on the line

Rachdayan · 29/05/2018 18:39

Line drying is always best, but if only we could rely on the weather a bit more often.

sm2012 · 29/05/2018 18:58

Definitely drying clothes on the line outside makes them smell really fresh for longer then when you have to dry them inside. I also keep the kitchen door shut if I'm cooking something that has a distinctive smell like frying onions or bacon!

veegstez · 29/05/2018 20:02

I try to dry things on the washing line outside as much as the weather permits, it always smells so lovely if its been dried outside!

liz1970 · 29/05/2018 20:11

Has to be line drying, smells great!

twinklenic · 29/05/2018 21:38

outside drying , dont overload the washer and use a fabric conditioner you like

mave · 29/05/2018 21:46

Drying clothes outside, it's heavenly!!!

jandoc · 29/05/2018 21:56

I try to do the washing as often as possible so that the best care is being given to each load

NellMangel · 29/05/2018 22:23

I'm not sure if anyone has suggested drying on the line yet. I really recommend it for fresh smelling laundry.

Cailin7 · 29/05/2018 22:50

We use fairy powder. I like clothes to dry outdoors on the line and just like them to be clean and fresh and not smell of anything

sweir1 · 29/05/2018 23:17

Use plenty of Lenor

pfcpompeysarah · 29/05/2018 23:26

I wash our clothes on a 30 degree wash with tons of fabric conditioner and allow them to dry naturally either on the clothes horse/line or if its the winter then on the radiators which makes the house smell amazing. If there are still issue with clothes smelling musty then I have mixed up a bottle of water with some fab con and I spray a fine spray of it on the clothes and they smell like new!!

EmilyK83 · 30/05/2018 09:43

For us, it's simply making sure that we take clothes out of the washing machine to dry as soon as the cycle has finished so they don't have time to sit and start smelling bad! Storage is important too, we generally have homemade lavender bags in drawers and cupboards to keep things smelling fresh...

BL0SS0M · 30/05/2018 10:39

put them out on the line

laurac1987 · 30/05/2018 11:01

I like to dry my clothes on the line, outside (weather permitting in the UK!!) and I use scent boosters in my wash.

BlackeyedPetitsPois · 30/05/2018 11:04

Do a hot service wash every few weeks to clean your washing machine, chuck in a couple of tablespoons of white wine vinegar in to the drum and run it at 90 degrees.

The only other thing that works is to line dry - nothing is better.

itsallgravybaby · 30/05/2018 12:30

Run a cleaning cycle once a month in the washer to get rid of gunk/build up and dog hair

Also don't overfill and take them out to dry as soon as possible once the cycle has finished

lotte321 · 30/05/2018 12:30

I make sure I run a cleaner through my washing machine every 3 months or so.

Line-dry as much as possible.

Use a separate fabric softner, not a 2-in-1

strawberrisc · 30/05/2018 13:52

I have tried everything throughout the years. One of my greatest finds is keeping your washing machine in good order. Clean it regularly and put a disinfectant wash through it every now and then.

thornyhousewife · 30/05/2018 15:48

Keep the washing machine as clean as possible and if possible, line dry, otherwise a well rotated and ventilated clothes horse works for us.

Liwwybettykins · 30/05/2018 19:18

I try to hang as many clothes as possible, theyre packed so tightly I think they hold in the smell themselves!
