Dettol has launched a quiz on Mumsnet in partnership with their new ‘Protect like a Mother’ campaign. Have a go and let us know what you think of your result!

Here’s what Dettol has to say: “We know that a mother’s protection of her child is unconditional and just like an animal in the wild, she will do whatever it takes to create a safe environment for her family. We provide mums with that same unconditional protection for the whole family throughout the home.”

Any nature documentary will tell you that mothers in the wild are not to be crossed when it comes to their young. However, they all have their own individual styles of protection. Take the quiz and find out what type of animal mum you’re most like! Do you protect your child like an Elephant? Or are you more like a monkey? Or even a lion?! Have a go and come back here and let us know what you are. Do you agree with the result? Whatever kind of parent you turn out to be in the wild, we would love to hear what your thoughts are.

Everyone who posts on this thread, after taking the quiz will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

I got Elephant - I'm certainly the size of one at the moment!

Caelaj07 · 10/10/2017 12:01

I'm an Eagle apparently

ipanda · 10/10/2017 13:49

Bear, I guess that means caring and protective.

Deeceeha · 10/10/2017 15:25

The quiz says Eagle but I think I'd probably be a mantis - they eat their young, save a lot of trouble! ;-)

Baldwin1973 · 10/10/2017 15:44

I would essentially be a rubbish parent in the wild. Like my creature comforts: bed/hot water/ telly far too much

brendansmum · 10/10/2017 16:13

I'm a monkey. I'd like to think I'll be the fun mum!

FlopIsMyParentingGuru · 10/10/2017 16:35

Eagle here. Not a huge surprise to be honest

I'm a bear, I assume Sloth wasn't an option Grin

Blondie1982 · 10/10/2017 18:53

Apparently I’m a bear, I’ve got to say that I agree and am happy with this result 😁

sealight123 · 10/10/2017 19:29

I'm a bear....RAWR!!

molly57 · 10/10/2017 19:47

I would be a tiger and forage for food for my young.

Flickabella36 · 10/10/2017 19:49

I'm an eagle- this sounds about right as I'm always prepared but from a distance ready to swoop in if needed!

emzlovesyou · 10/10/2017 20:37

I'm a bear!

Wjjkl · 10/10/2017 20:40

A bear. Grrr

Cat1980uk · 10/10/2017 21:27

Says I am an Eagle but I like to think as protective as a Mother I am going to be I will also love to have fun, jumping in puzzles, centre of the fun, letting kids be silly because that's what they need to do but also let them have freedom with me keeping an eye on them too

pixelwife · 10/10/2017 21:55

I'm an elephant and I'm happy with this line "You're also a great mum to have in the corner when things go wrong." I'd like to think that's my no 1 role as my children's mum, being in their corner always.

12LuDo · 10/10/2017 22:32

I'm an eagle. Always saw myself as more of a giraffe, but it could be worse!

pinkspideruk · 10/10/2017 23:40

bear :) im happy enough with that

Tonkatol · 11/10/2017 00:03

I'm a bear according to the quiz. A couple of the questions were answered as the best of a bad bunch in that none of them were applicable so i answered as closely as I could. The other thing I would be interested in was, if i had taken the same quiz when i only had my first child, would I have given completely different answers??

lotte321 · 11/10/2017 11:19

I'm a bear. Winning at life!

daylight · 11/10/2017 11:22

I'm a Bear!

aggga8 · 11/10/2017 12:26

I'm a bear, LOL

demure28sg · 11/10/2017 12:48

i will let my child experience a lot of things as long as it would not put him in danger.i want him to enjoy. outdoor experience according to studies make a child brainier, talk more and thru his experiences,he will have more fun . he will remember most of it though.it will also improve the relationship between you and ur child because you give him more freedom.
