Dettol has launched a quiz on Mumsnet in partnership with their new ‘Protect like a Mother’ campaign. Have a go and let us know what you think of your result!

Here’s what Dettol has to say: “We know that a mother’s protection of her child is unconditional and just like an animal in the wild, she will do whatever it takes to create a safe environment for her family. We provide mums with that same unconditional protection for the whole family throughout the home.”

Any nature documentary will tell you that mothers in the wild are not to be crossed when it comes to their young. However, they all have their own individual styles of protection. Take the quiz and find out what type of animal mum you’re most like! Do you protect your child like an Elephant? Or are you more like a monkey? Or even a lion?! Have a go and come back here and let us know what you are. Do you agree with the result? Whatever kind of parent you turn out to be in the wild, we would love to hear what your thoughts are.

Everyone who posts on this thread, after taking the quiz will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

I'm an elephant. I am quite organised and I would totally sort out any bullies, but I also identify with the eagle mum description people have posted, and not having seen the others I'd guess I'd probably find things there to agree with too. It's a bit random because you only get one result and have no idea what the other ones would have been.

Agree about the baby proofing. I didn't bother at all, I just taught them what to avoid and watched them. There was no option for that.

elfycat · 27/09/2017 20:25

I'm a bear. Can't argue too much with that.

Though some answers had 2 options I had to umm over. Hideous craft items - get pride of place AND I start the plan to get it to the bin. Both are possible at once Wink

IreneWinters · 27/09/2017 20:33

Elephant. Not sure about that. I have to be organised and check school bags the night before, because I have a memory like a sieve. I do feel quite slow and lumbering like an elephant, I suppose.

Beach11 · 27/09/2017 20:41

I'm an Eagle 🦅, pretty accurate

Chelsea26 · 27/09/2017 20:53

Elephant woman. Because I've got a good memory, or can they see my 8 month pregnant belly through my webcam? 🤣

I’m an eagle! Love it!

ThomasRichard · 28/09/2017 07:24

Eagle.

But this has to be one of the most patronising things I've ever read on MN.

rhinosuze · 28/09/2017 07:36

Elephant. Quite enjoyed the quiz, made me think

userinfinity · 28/09/2017 09:21

crumbsinthecutlerydrawer · 28/09/2017 13:02

Eagle. Not always particularly prepared but agree with the knowing what’s going on and keeping a watch from a distance.

WishingCarrot · 28/09/2017 13:19

I'm a bear. Sounds about right.

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuckKeidis · 28/09/2017 13:59

crumbs (I should really let things go Blush) when DD was about 17mo and quite happily climbing out of the empty paddling pool on our local common, I used to get quite angry if some strange adult put their hand behind her protectively. I knew she was okay, she'd done it a million times before. She's now 10. Blush

viques · 28/09/2017 14:22
