Dettol has launched a quiz on Mumsnet in partnership with their new ‘Protect like a Mother’ campaign. Have a go and let us know what you think of your result!

Here’s what Dettol has to say: “We know that a mother’s protection of her child is unconditional and just like an animal in the wild, she will do whatever it takes to create a safe environment for her family. We provide mums with that same unconditional protection for the whole family throughout the home.”

Any nature documentary will tell you that mothers in the wild are not to be crossed when it comes to their young. However, they all have their own individual styles of protection. Take the quiz and find out what type of animal mum you’re most like! Do you protect your child like an Elephant? Or are you more like a monkey? Or even a lion?! Have a go and come back here and let us know what you are. Do you agree with the result? Whatever kind of parent you turn out to be in the wild, we would love to hear what your thoughts are.

Everyone who posts on this thread, after taking the quiz will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck

Laaadyofthehousespeaking · 26/09/2017 19:10

Eagle- I think that's about right Grin

mave · 26/09/2017 19:17

I'm a bear!

TorNayDoh · 26/09/2017 19:32

Elephant. Not sure about that one... if only I had the memory of an elephant! No goldfish option?

poppym12 · 26/09/2017 19:37

Bear

Sairelou · 26/09/2017 19:49

I'm an elephant Blush

Ikea1234 · 26/09/2017 20:03

Apparently I am an eagle, and that means I am eagle eyes, and food at watching from a distance. It also means I am prepared for things like rainy days, cuts and grazes and sniffles.

I like to think that's pretty accurate! I was never a Girl Scout, but I am usually prepared!

sm2012 · 26/09/2017 20:04

I'm a bear, I think that's about right, I try to prepare my kids for the real world as much as possible :)

DaisyDando · 26/09/2017 20:10

I'm a monkey, which is definitely me. Hehe.

Chestervase1 · 26/09/2017 20:18

Bear, I'm a bear

jessiecat33 · 26/09/2017 20:30

The eagle mother always has an eye on what's about to happen. Going to rain? You always got a brolly in your bag. Got the sniffles? Here's a hankie. You're also brilliant at watching out for your children from a distance.

Sillysausage123 · 26/09/2017 20:42

I'm a Bear which is pretty accurate to be fair.
Not only do I have a bum as big as a Bears and I'm not the loudest outgoing parent but I step up to parenting challenges when I have to.

Dormouse1940 · 26/09/2017 20:52

I'm a bear.

...

I spose I am quite grizzly..and when I'm grumpy OH says I'm 'like a bear with a sore-head most mornings'.

Not really sure how this translates to parenting styles tbh...but at least I didn't get 'duck'- they really are hopeless mothers!

Rigbyroo · 26/09/2017 20:53

I came out as a bear!

petalsinthegarden · 26/09/2017 20:56

I got monkey! Sounds about right, however the babyproofing question didn't really have answers to match what I actually did (just move things out the way and let her get on with it!)

ErinSophia · 26/09/2017 21:01

I got bear, I would say that's quite accurate as I'm a bit over protective of my girls.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 26/09/2017 21:09

Bear. Fair enough - grumpy but cuddly, I'll take that!

Teatowelfairy · 26/09/2017 21:11

I'm a bear apparently Bear.

I thought the questions where a bit iffy and the choice of answers were even worse, especially the baby proof one and the park. I'm more of a meh get on with it.

PeteAndManu · 26/09/2017 21:13

Another Eagle - sounds cooler than I am.

123hartley123 · 26/09/2017 21:17

I AM FLYING HIGH - EAGLE

BoggyEyedMum · 26/09/2017 21:22

Another bear.

Shockers · 26/09/2017 21:33

I'm a bear.

I like bears. I saw a video of a bear teaching her cub to bum-sledge in the snow. I've done that too (didn't mean to lose the sledge, but we shifted pretty quickly without it anyway).

Bears don't shave much, are fun, appreciate food, move slowly and like honey.

I'm a bear.

Whyisitsodifficult · 26/09/2017 21:39

Eagle here. Slightly annoying quiz that was!

AHintOfStyle · 26/09/2017 21:52

I'm an eagle apparently. Not sure how accurate that is.
I was expecting sloth.

modzy78 · 26/09/2017 21:55

It comes up as lion. The thing is that the description doesn't suit me at all. I'm not much of a leader in social situations.
