Though you live closely to each other, it’s possible that you know very little about your neighbours other than how terrible their parking is. But, that doesn’t stop you imagining what might be going on inside their walls. Inspired by their premiering of Keeping Up With the Joneses, starring Isla Fisher, John Hamm and Gal Gadot Sky Cinema would like to hear about the funny rumours you’ve heard about or the secret lives you’ve imagined for your neighbours (past or present).

Here’s what Sky Cinema has to say: “Sky Cinema makes it easy to find something you want to watch by showing a New movie Premiere every single day of the year. This summer there is a fantastic range of movies perfect for movie date night in from Keeping Up with the Joneses, to Allied to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them.

So, whether you’re convinced that the woman at the end of the road is MI5, you have some inventive theories about why the neighbours leave the house so early on a Sunday, or you’re a curtain twitcher who treats the neighbour’s lives like entertainment, share your stories below to be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

A neighbour opposite us we've decided is drug-running.

Flickabella36 · 10/09/2017 23:01

I definetly know my neighbours secretly spy on the village with high tech surveillance and drones as they know EVERYTHING 😀

JayJay1874 · 10/09/2017 23:39

i keep getting parcels left at my neighbour's as i am out during the day. I often go round to collect them after work and their little one answers. They won't hand it over without mummy's say so but she is often 'on a work call'. They often take ages. She doesn't go out to work so what work is she doing? I can't help but thinking she's operating some sort of sex chat line from in there...

tubbyj · 11/09/2017 00:59

Secrrt Russian sgrnt next door

diddiebiddie · 11/09/2017 02:25

We are convinced our neighbours are Spooks, they go away for weeks on end (spying overseas ) the camper van is used for surveillance, the deliveries every day (missions and all equipment needed) etc etc

clarabella12 · 11/09/2017 03:15

the old lady who lives next door is a famous writer...

chrisstreet · 11/09/2017 07:08

We used to live in a block of flats with a grass quadrant in the middle. One day our neighbours started digging a hole alongside the side of the flat. Me and my wife were convinced they were going to bury their elderly mother but it turns out they just had a bit of damp!

poppypants · 11/09/2017 07:26

I pretend my neighbours are celebrities one is Father Ted another one is Charles and Camila as they look similar and act like them too!

Pimmpom · 11/09/2017 08:23

I did have thoughts that we had a spy living next door to us. Just my overactive imagination - he was a Diplomat.

caz123456 · 11/09/2017 09:55

I'm convinced the couple in the flat opposite are doggers! I drive past a local beauty spot each evening from work, and a couple of times a week their car is in the car park.. very strange as it is too late and dark to go for a walk!

sofieellis · 11/09/2017 10:18

Our neighbours are all rather nice, but I think they think we lower the tone slightly. Every other house in our street has about 4 or 5 cars parked outside and they are all washed and highly polished at least once a week. Lawns are also constantly mowed - I don't know how htere's any grass left. We only have one car and it's pretty mucky - frankly we have much more interesting ways to fill our time than cleaning cars and endlessly pruning the front garden. I imagine they think we must be some kind of hobos!

VickyRsuperstar · 11/09/2017 10:23

Our house is in a terrace. I have no idea who lives immediately next door on one of the sides as I never see them or hear them come or go. I think they must be hermits and only going out in the middle of the night when everyone is asleep. I do know that whoever lives there doesn't spend any time in their garden either as the entire space is filled with nettles that are over 6ft high! The lights come on at night though so someone definitely lives there!
A few doors down there is a crazy couple who like to send out anonymous hate mail to other people in the street including ourselves - comparing notes with next door who also got letters, we know for certain who it came from as there was stuff in there that only they could have known. The letters were a crazy, unpleasant, incoherent, threatening ramble - then they have the cheek to pretend to smile sometimes when they go past! The woman used to periodically stand out side our gate just staring into our living room window for no reason until eventually she got bored and went away. (I have now grown a huge, thick hedge that they can't see through!) I think they are psychos, but at least they look old and unable to carry out anything that they threatened to do. I still have CCTV though...just in case!

molly57 · 11/09/2017 11:46

I hear one neighbour dumping lots of glass bottles in the bin so I think they must like a tipple or two.

sarahw2 · 11/09/2017 13:14

I'm sure the man next door is a secret murderer! He comes and goes at bizarre times of the night, I've seen him carry 'odd' shaped bundles to his car, and the lady who lived with him totally disappeared! I hope they just split up! Confused

piggypoo · 11/09/2017 13:16

The couple next door, seemed so happy together, their life seemed to be perfect. we used to say that they probably hated each other, we were proved right, when one day the wife came out into the back garden with a massive black eye! He'd lamped her one! We were gobsmacked as the husband was such a little unassuming, shy man, we'd invented a whole back story about how he must bring her gifts from work, and how he must have put her on a pedestal, he eventually left her for his secretary! I only hope he didn't start beating her up too.

myboycraig · 11/09/2017 13:58

I imagine my elderly neighbours are always dancing around the house to Frank Sinatra.

They are out to social clubs every weekend, always laughing and holding hands.

They are so sweet...... Always make me smile Grin

emiai · 11/09/2017 14:19

Nothing happens here.. ever.. so I guess we may be the weird ones..

swiftly hides all the wine bottles underneath crunchy not cornflakes boxes

littlemonkeyz · 11/09/2017 16:09

We used to have a long back garden and my brother had a practice golf club and plastic ball which he used to knock around. One day, my very elderly neighbours who were in their 90's came hobbling over the road to ask if we knew anything about the golf ball that had flown in through their (closed!) lounge window and onto their laps whilst watching Dynasty (yes it was a long time ago!). I didn't know wether to be more shocked that my brother was stupid enough to have actually been using real golf balls and had made a really great shot over the house and across the road or that my 90 year old neighbours watched Dynasty.

windowmouse · 11/09/2017 16:20

We have an ongoing joke that my neighbour is a crime lord! I'm sure he lives a very tame life in reality!

trudiecomp12 · 11/09/2017 16:32

Everyone knows everybody's business round here but my old neighbours were having deliveries and collections each day, although they were catalogue distributors which would make sense. I joked one day I thought they were drug dealers. Turned out they actually were and the catalogues were a cover!

cathryn1 · 11/09/2017 19:38

My eldery next door neighbour an ex school teacher disappears down the borrowers holes for days on end, then she then re-appears to do some gardening, meet family at the weekend and do some painting

CGORST · 11/09/2017 19:55

My neighbour has a grown up son who keeps disappearing for months on end. She says he's in prison but I reckon he's on a mission for MI5 because I can't think of any other reason why you'd tell everybody that your son is in prison unless you were keeping another secret.....

I could tell you other things about my neighbours but they aren't imagined and you'd never believe me if I told you...... :-)

dilydaly · 11/09/2017 20:18

Our neighbour has always kept to himself, he lives in a massive house behind ours and it always burning something strange that absolutely stinks. Over the years we've decided that he is a serial killer burning his victims (sorry to sound grim !), his name is Roger but we know him as Roger the Reaper !

grannybiker · 11/09/2017 21:00

When we lived in the town we used to make up stories about the man opposite who was really anal about parking his car EXACTLY outside his house. My Dad suggested he had a wooden leg he couldn't drive with, so could only hop a specific distance.
Seemed much funnier at the time

ikkle87 · 11/09/2017 21:29

I'm starting to think my next door neighbour is having a love affair with her hoover as it's used about 7 times a day including around 1am just before she goes to bed.

She lives with her son who is super flamboyant and wears his hair in a bright pink combed over mohawk and has tiny tiny shorts that I worry won't always hold everything in and I'm not prepared for an escaped droopy bollock at all!

They are super protective about parking and leave their wheelie bin on the road outside their house so nobody can park there and if you do they write you letters chastising you. She loves my hubby as he fixes her car but she doesn't know my name despite having been neighbours for over 4 years.
