Featuring a strong and spirited hero, Disney’s new film, Moana, is now available to watch as often and as many times as your DC likes, without having to worry about your proximity to a DVD player. So, inspired by Moana herself, and to celebrate the digital release of new film, Disney want to hear about the strong heroines who inspire your DCs.

Disney has said: “Did you know you can already download and keep Disney’s Moana from a variety of digital stores including Sky Store and iTunes. With great music, lots of laughs and a kick-ass heroine, Moana is a great movie for the whole family and will get you in the mood for summer. You can enjoy it on TV with the family or take it with you on your phone, tablet, laptop to keep the kids entertained while you are all out and about. The Blu-ray ™ and DVD are available on Monday 3rd April.”

Now Disney want to hear about the kick-ass heroines in your lives. Maybe it’s a teacher, a friend, a celebrity or - obvious choice - their Mum! From the everyday, to the extraordinary, anyone can be a heroine, so ask your DCs about the strong women in their lives and see who they come up with.

Everyone who posts their DCs answers on the thread below will be entered into a prize draw for one of five surprise Disney toy sets or a £250 iTunes voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

I asked this question to my DCs and they both said their Nan because she carries all the shopping from town :-)

Topnotes · 07/04/2017 20:35

DD loves Matilda.

I loved Wonder Woman at same age Grin

I really admired Margaret Thatcher in her day - the Iron Lady. After years of male Prime Ministers, she was like a breath of fresh air, I really loved her, to watch her take control was amazing. I truly think she was one of the best leaders of our time. To anyone who critised her, I would say, if you think you could do better, carry on . She had an air of confidence and could really talk the talk and walk the walk. If you are looking down on us Maggie, we love you.

"No woman in my time will be prime minister or foreign secretary - not the top jobs. Anyway, I wouldn't want to be prime minister. You have to give yourself 100% to the job."

  • Margaret Thatcher, 1969

I thought of this thread when I saw this news story earlier today. What a wonderful triumph and achievement. Surely an excellent role model. (Ignore the silly negative title. It's such a positive story)

My DS said his nanny! she is very strong, she has rheumatoid arthritis and while she struggles, she doesn't let it get in the way of her life. She is one of the strongest women I have ever come across, so I am with him on that! :)

modzy78 · 08/04/2017 17:32

DD (4) says I think a mommy is a hero. I don't know if she means just me, or all mommies in general. She doesn't want to give any more details.

amylovesharriet · 08/04/2017 21:57

My LO said rattled off a list of every woman she has met in her life - from me (mommy) to her teachers, to the lady who works in the corner shop! We are all inspirations.

Would be me -nomatter what LIFE puts in front of me I always rise to the challenge
I don't say can't or too hard
To me life is made of what you make of it
By burying your head in the sand it leads to a life of misery
GUESS who my role model was?
My mum
An inspiration to all
Her motto was
Everything IS manageable -you just have to manage it
This is what I believe too and teach the little ones this too x

I love how my daughter, Amy, has developed into a brilliant teacher and a great mother. She truly is an inspiration to me and others and I am proud that she is my daughter.

AutumnElla · 09/04/2017 07:54

My 3 and 4 year old said Owlette, we're watching PJ masks at the moment.😁

alison991 · 09/04/2017 17:13

My son said granny is a strong woman and a great teacher too

PrimalChic · 09/04/2017 17:17

My eldest (4) thinks that his Nanna, my mum, is a hero. She's almost entirely blind now but she doesn't let that stop her making the most of her grandchildren. My son thinks she's amazing for getting on a bus, a train and then a taxi so that she can come and visit us, all without being able to see. My daughter (2) doesn't understand that she can't see so when she brings a book for her Nanna to read, my mum makes up a story for her. She's a very brave tiny lady with a big personality and my two children adore her!

glmcall123 · 09/04/2017 17:28

I'd love it to be me but their gran wins hands down. She brings so much fun and laughter into their lives. We have video evidence of her at 71 years old on a zipwire, I can only hope I've got that much enthusiasm for life when I'm older. I really can't think of a stronger female role model for my children.

flapjack35 · 09/04/2017 19:08

I am saying my mum, although she's only 4ft 10 she has the biggest and strongest mindset, her motto of "nothing is impossible if you work at it" has certainly made me think about the things I can achieve if I wanted to.

I asked my darling daughter aged 4, who her hero is and she quite proudly says Skye from Paw Patrol, lol

jamielmdjs · 09/04/2017 22:27

'Granny Anne. She takes us to school, picks us up, buys us nice things and always comes to see us.'

spanglisher · 10/04/2017 03:06

My son said his cousin. She lives abroad so he doesn't see her often and I think he has a bit of a crush on her

Bellroyd · 10/04/2017 08:43

I asked the question and the answer that came back was, surprisingly, Nanny - she isn't normally top of his list but it is clear she is still respected as the matriarch of the family - quite right too! After all, I'll be a matriarch one day!

contactghalib · 10/04/2017 09:28

Strong woman is the lollipop lady outside school who stops all the cars and this makes quite an impression on my young one who looks at her as a superwoman of strength where all car drivers obey her every command.

user1472646069 · 10/04/2017 10:16

Six year old said my mum. Why because she just is.

natholland82 · 10/04/2017 11:14

Their grandmother - or my mum! She's solid as a rock and definitely a super strong role model for them. She's very hands on too and so supportive to our family. We love MOANA!!

Jocelynne123 · 10/04/2017 11:19

This made me want to cry but I asked my daughter and she said me. She said I fixed her bad leg so,she didn't need a wheelchair anymore. ( I found the doctor to help her, looked after her while she had an operation to put machine put in her spine and 3 knee operations) I did what any mum would do but it's lovely to hear she picked me xx

Emrob86 · 10/04/2017 11:44

My hero is my mum! She had a full blown career as a surgeon but also had four children during that time (all girls!) and not much help. She's amazing!

cathyov · 10/04/2017 11:59

My DC (a little older but still like their Disney films of course!)say me - they think I am mad doing all I do and yet it is worthwhile especially as I know deep down they appreciate it!
