Featuring a strong and spirited hero, Disney’s new film, Moana, is now available to watch as often and as many times as your DC likes, without having to worry about your proximity to a DVD player. So, inspired by Moana herself, and to celebrate the digital release of new film, Disney want to hear about the strong heroines who inspire your DCs.

Disney has said: “Did you know you can already download and keep Disney’s Moana from a variety of digital stores including Sky Store and iTunes. With great music, lots of laughs and a kick-ass heroine, Moana is a great movie for the whole family and will get you in the mood for summer. You can enjoy it on TV with the family or take it with you on your phone, tablet, laptop to keep the kids entertained while you are all out and about. The Blu-ray ™ and DVD are available on Monday 3rd April.”

Now Disney want to hear about the kick-ass heroines in your lives. Maybe it’s a teacher, a friend, a celebrity or - obvious choice - their Mum! From the everyday, to the extraordinary, anyone can be a heroine, so ask your DCs about the strong women in their lives and see who they come up with.

Everyone who posts their DCs answers on the thread below will be entered into a prize draw for one of five surprise Disney toy sets or a £250 iTunes voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

My nana is my ultimate heroine. She's 81, has raised 9 children, looks after my gramps with Alzheimer's despite her own serious health issues yet is the most generous, humble, selfless woman I know. She stood up when my own mother stepped down 40 years ago & she's made me the woman I am today. I owe her my life..,

EasterRobin · 06/04/2017 20:37

Her auntie is a very strong woman and an excellent role model. She is clever, fun, kind, caring and full of energy.

Lydiag1 · 06/04/2017 21:10

My little boy sees his teacher as being a strong and funny women , he says she can dance really funny and is kind to him always . My son thinks his Nanny Kimmy is amazing too he actually thinks she can do anything ,I must admit she is pretty wonderful .

TheresaJane · 06/04/2017 21:29

Mine is my Mother-in-Law, She's a strong woman and she's brave too. She always puts others before herself as she doesn't like to see any one of us struggle. Last 3 yrs she's left to raise her one son who has a mental and learning disability as her husband died of Mesothelioma, she takes every day in her stride and keeps her chin up and when the grandchildren visit her face lights up because they are what keep her strength strong xx

OksanaFitzgerald · 06/04/2017 21:53

My 4 year old said The strong woman in her life is her Nanny

Minnibix · 06/04/2017 22:43

It has to be my big sister, she keeps her head when everyone around loses there's. A real Heroine

Perfectmom1972 · 06/04/2017 23:26

My children always think I'm a strong woman because I was born profoundly deaf and it doesn't stop me doing what I want.

baberooo · 06/04/2017 23:47

My DC'S heroine is Supergirl because she soars to GLORY, saves the people in trouble and fights the baddies. He is obsessed with superheroes and frequently pretends to be one.

Lialouise2519 · 07/04/2017 00:02

My sons teacher is a hero!
She's amazing, she works so hard for all the special needs children and she always goes above and beyond. My son has his SATS exams next month and she has stayed behind after school several times to help me to help him, he has come so far this year and it is all down to her, thank you will never be enough!

leosmummy2010 · 07/04/2017 09:31

My hero is my granny. When my mother died suddenly at a young age, she took the 4 of us in, loved us and protected us, sharing in our success and sorrows at a time in her life that she should have been concentrating on herself.

magolin · 07/04/2017 09:47

I never thought I'd be that inspired by Vera Lynn but, after she recently turned 100 and I heard more from the older generation about the way in which she lifted people's spirits, and travelled to dangerous places in order to do so, I'm impressed.

1969angep · 07/04/2017 12:48

My 5 year old said Mrs Trickett (his SEN helper at school) because she stops me being naughty, his best friend Freya because she's best at tickling and I got a mention as Mum because I let him have pizza every Friday for tea. Not sure any of us count a kick ass females but at least I know what's important to him now!

Paddi · 07/04/2017 12:49

My daughters heroine is Hermione Granger. Clever, kind and resourceful she talks about her all the time.

pixiedusk · 07/04/2017 13:35

Yipes thats me! I think its because I can still answer all of my son's questions even if its math haha. I guess that in time it would change but I am so happy that he sees me as a strong person.

Alidoll · 07/04/2017 13:48

I asked my 7 DD and after few seconds she said "can I say me?". I asked her why and she said "because I try to help my friend and my dog and and good for you and daddy...I want to be a vet and that job helps animals and people as it makes them less sad if their pet gets better and it doesn't die"

I couldn't argue with her logic...then she said "you too mummy...you made me and give me good advice about school and my friends. You are funny and work hard and help other people go home safely [I'm a health and safety adviser] to their families so you are sorta like a superhero...my superhero who gives the best hugs in the world"

(wipes away tear and wonder how I've managed to bring up such a sweet and loving little girl)

My daughter and I loved Moana at the cinema and we both enjoyed the fact that she is a strong female character who doesn't sit about waiting to be rescued but actively seeks a solution to her tribes problems herself. (The songs were good too!) My children are surrounded by strong female role models, from her Grandmas, her aunties, her teachers and family friends. Before Moana, her role model was Merida from Brave as (in my six year olds words) she's brave, kind and rides a horse!

Punkatheart · 07/04/2017 14:53

My daughter has told me time and time again that I am her hero, which makes me enormously proud. But we also loved Buffy - she was independent, strong and even I can't kill vampires!

Genka · 07/04/2017 16:16

My daughter is still a little one and I can't wait for her to grow up a little bit more so I can show her Disney world! I love all disney movies and my favourite is Ariel. I am looking forward to Moana as I haven't seen the movie yet but she looks like very interesting and strong character and I m sure the movie will be awesome!

barricade · 07/04/2017 16:27

Moana - top movie, as expected from the magical touch of Disney. And the main character is every bit a kick-ass fictional heroine as our favourites, Wonder Woman, Dorothy Gale (from Wizard Of Oz) and Princess Leia (from Star Wars).

As for non-fictional heroines - no one more kick-ass than our dear Mum - to raise us all, it would have been impossible to be otherwise.

Elliepurpleflower · 07/04/2017 17:15

I asked my eldest daughter and she said her two best girl friends at school as they play superheroes together!

Sleepysausage · 07/04/2017 17:42

My daughter is 18 months old and we enjoy reading her tales such as good night stories for rebel girls and fantastically great women who changed the world. I hope she grows up to look up to the many strong women in our family and the men who are championing those women.

Hopezibah · 07/04/2017 18:15

I asked my daughter and she pointed to me (but when I asked why she said 'im not sure!). I know she adores her teacher - She shouts a massive hello and goodbye to her everyday and talks about her non-stop.

gemmie797 · 07/04/2017 19:17

I asked my sons who their female hero is and they both agreed that it is my sister - their aunt! They said that she saves them from everything and she is strong 😁

foxessocks · 07/04/2017 19:52

My mum because she is clever funny and kind

tabbaz123 · 07/04/2017 19:58

Grandmum is always one of the first name that comes to mind and actually sometimes it is there own peers that they look up to in school - the bright young girl in the classroom.
