To celebrate the launch of the latest Smurfs film, Smurfs: The Lost Village, in cinemas March 31, we'd like to hear all about your kids’ favourite hiding places. What are the oddest places things have been lost and found in your house? Please share your stories in the thread below.

Here’s what Smurfs has to say about their latest film: “In this all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest, to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. It’s a Smurftastic adventure!”

So, which weird and wonderful places have your DC picked out as hiding spots? Perhaps they've lost a treasured possession after putting it somewhere for "safe keeping"? Or have you found 'hidden' snacks in the crack between their bed and the wall? Toys in the depths of the airing cupboard? Notes from school stuffed in the fridge? (Perhaps you're guilty of some of these yourself!)

Or perhaps you've found your child hiding somewhere unusual - in the dog basket, or in the laundry under a pile of dirty pants and socks? Maybe you discovered they’d turned your favourite geranium bush into a top secret spy headquarters?

Whatever your story, Smurfs would like to hear it so please post it below. Everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Smurfs: The Lost Village will hit UK cinemas March 31, with special preview screenings March 25 and 26.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

We have to play the same game of hide and seek every night. He hides in bed, I wonder out loud about all the places he could be, then when I sit down on the bed I act shocked at how lumpy the mattress is until I am tickling him and he reveals himself by giggling and wriggling Smile.

He doesn't really collect things yet, apart from having to bring back the biggest stone he can find when we go to the beach, so the house is full of bloody great doorstep-sized boulders.

Within the clothes rails at debenhams. Sneaky bugger slips behind something long and burrows deep. Cue me running around the shop in panic until I learned to scan the floor at ankle level only. Never any other shop, just debenhams.

My oldest two children hide their food wrappers/pots in their wardrobe, they're saving it all 'to make something with it' I've found all sorts of mouldy pots etc, now regularly do a sweep through to check. My son also hides his dummies under his bed- he knows I want to stop using them, so when they're all lost that's it, whenever I think we're on the last one, 4 more reappear!!

BL0SS0M · 16/03/2017 11:13

my dd likes to hide coins in her shoes and toys! you never where you'll find them

Rosehips · 16/03/2017 14:35

I always liked it when mine did the standing in plain sight assuming they were invisible (as obviously they were hiding) thing as toddlers

ann28 · 16/03/2017 15:51

Completely lost DD once - she was in the hallway cupboard with shoes and coats. no idea how she squeezed in there!

ha2el · 16/03/2017 16:01

The classic hiding behind the drawn curtains with the feet showing at the bottom!

Pigeonpea · 16/03/2017 20:04

Under her bed, behind everything - the first time she did it, it took almost 15 minutes to find her - slightly worrying and massively funny!
She just loves to hide and I swear she is Houdini, despite being super tall for her age!

After 15 minutes frantic searching nearly crying around the house for my 2 youngest kids I decided to check the back garden to find my 6 yr old bouncing on the trampoline laughing and found the kids sitting locked in the huge bedroom compartment of our rabbit hutch !! He'd persuaded them to get in to play house then locked them in !! Confused

My 5 kids hide stuff everywhere especially my door keys I've found things in shoes, dryer, pockets of coats, under the sink, in the teabag box, Lego in the milk carton. Kids are just mischievous Grin

DS loves to 'hide' in the junk room study with his beloved Hoover. He also has a pretty scary hobby of putting random things in the bin 😩

user1485629191 · 17/03/2017 10:33

Standing right in front of me with his hands over his eyes saying 'where am I, come and find me' He find it very funny, as does his teenager brother!

RuthCart · 17/03/2017 11:26

My eldest hid in the laundry basket once, I don't know how he could stand the smell!

kelsuprise · 17/03/2017 12:11

My wonderfully helpful 2 year old, hid (or posted) all mummy's credit and cash card, bus pass and most helpfully of all, mummy's mobile down the gaps in the decking outside!!

poopoopoo · 17/03/2017 12:27

when the kid play hide and seek my son hides under the sofa seat cushions lying flat or covers himself in the washing in the washing basket.

pfcpompeysarah · 17/03/2017 22:08

My DS has grown out of that stage now but when we used to play hide and seek he used to 'hide' in plain view really, I had to spend a good few minutes pretending I couldn't see him crouching down next to the chair!

Kem99 · 19/03/2017 22:45

My son love to hides things under his pillow. He's like a magpie and goes for all the shiny things he can find, like shiny pebbles and his sister's bracelets.

Butteredparsnip1ps · 20/03/2017 11:02

DD hides in the cupboard under the stairs, she has made a little den there.

She hides objects (a lot of which belong to me) anywhere and everywhere. Literally. Everything item or toy she could possibly want or need is in a bag, which is itself, in another bag or box. She's like a magpie collecting treasures to hide, except she frequently forgets where she has put her goodies...

She currently has a dolls hammock that she has rigged up from a hair turban tied to a beam, that has gravel special rocks in it.

My DS was a bit upset on one of his birthdays as he had a falling out with his brother. He ran to his room upset, when i went to check on him he had vanished.. I had family members go down the street to look for him and we searched everywhere around the house. The one place we didnt check was under his ottoman bed.. he had hid in there under his toys!

MillyVanilli222 · 22/03/2017 18:25

I always find things hidden in my shoes! Everything from toys to rocks from the garden...

cluckyhen · 26/03/2017 11:58

A welly - in the back of his cupboard! I also found items hidden behind books in the bookcase

SpagettiNetty · 26/03/2017 14:11

DD's current favourite hiding place is behind the curtains, but she sits on the floor instead of standing so her feet are always poking out!

Ahh hide and seek! my sons favourite game that he plays with us every morning. He climbs into our bed, tells us to close our eyes, and then hides under the quilt RIGHT next to us, whilst his arms and legs also dig into us. It is so adorable as we play along saying we can't find him, and he giggles away under the cover! Alternatively, he hides behind our shower curtain in the bathroom. When we walk around the house trying to find him, he shouts that hes 'in the bathroom behind the curtain''.. and giggles again! Perhaps he hasn't quite got the concept of it but it is so adorable so we will happily continue!! :)

omgitslani · 26/03/2017 22:43

She has a thing about hiding herself under the coffee table in the living room, though it is mostly just her legs and bottom that can wiggle their way under there!

As for hiding 'stuff', I have found various items including bits of toys and food in drawers in the bathrooms, in our shoe cupboard and from time to time in my handbag!

allibaby · 27/03/2017 08:32

It took me ages to discover my cheeky monkeys were hiding their veg in plant pots and even under the rug in the living room.
