To celebrate the launch of the latest Smurfs film, Smurfs: The Lost Village, in cinemas March 31, we'd like to hear all about your kids’ favourite hiding places. What are the oddest places things have been lost and found in your house? Please share your stories in the thread below.

Here’s what Smurfs has to say about their latest film: “In this all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest, to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. It’s a Smurftastic adventure!”

So, which weird and wonderful places have your DC picked out as hiding spots? Perhaps they've lost a treasured possession after putting it somewhere for "safe keeping"? Or have you found 'hidden' snacks in the crack between their bed and the wall? Toys in the depths of the airing cupboard? Notes from school stuffed in the fridge? (Perhaps you're guilty of some of these yourself!)

Or perhaps you've found your child hiding somewhere unusual - in the dog basket, or in the laundry under a pile of dirty pants and socks? Maybe you discovered they’d turned your favourite geranium bush into a top secret spy headquarters?

Whatever your story, Smurfs would like to hear it so please post it below. Everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Smurfs: The Lost Village will hit UK cinemas March 31, with special preview screenings March 25 and 26.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Always finding random things under the stairs

Marg2k8 · 08/03/2017 19:43

I remember when my children were little they thought that nobody could see them when they had their hands over their eyes.

freefan · 08/03/2017 19:51

When dc2 was younger I found almost every lost thing in her dolls pram as she said baby liked looking after things, still least I knew where things would be.. unlike dc3 who had a liking for putting anything behind the sofa.

My 3 year old like to hide in the big cabinet and close the door. She loves Narnia story

TJCB68 · 08/03/2017 20:03

Rd used to hide in a large under stairs cupboard that housed the fridge and freezer. Tucked behind them, she could remain undetected for ages!

My son once thought it would be funny to hide under my bed after he had been put to bed for the night. I got the fright of my life when i went to bed to find a leg poking out from under my bed and see him under there fast asleep!!!!

emmmaaa26 · 08/03/2017 20:11

Usually behind sofas or doors, jumping out from behind walls also.

towser44 · 08/03/2017 20:27

Our daughter used to lie down on the floor and then put the washing basket upside down on top of her!

alsproject · 08/03/2017 20:30

My boy is a big Harry Potter fan so likes to hide in the cupboard under the stairs

funkyfish586 · 08/03/2017 20:47

we once played hide and seek and after a good 5 minutes i started to get very panicked as i just couldnt find my son.. turns out he had gone outside to play in the back garden!

spottypjs · 08/03/2017 20:47

I remember when I was little I used to hide my sweets behind the videos in the living room so I could try to make them last (as we only got sweets on a weekend). I remember going back one week and being happily surprised by some sweets from last week being there still that I had forgotten about.

My 2 year old loves hiding in the food cupboard in the kitchen, in her wardrobe. She also loves to wrap the curtains round her so she is completely hidden, then she likes to reveal herself to me by saying boo with a massive grin on her face, it's so adorable, especially when I feign shock, she cracks up laughing one of her infectious laughs.

lhlee62 · 08/03/2017 20:55

Behind her own hands thinking that because she can't see me it means I can't see her!

Catmadroo · 08/03/2017 21:01

When my son was younger I couldn't find my housekeys turned the house upside down and then finally thought I'd look in the kitchen bin, and sure enough my son had put them in the bin. He also posted my keys out of the letterbox once. Luckily grown out of this, but still hides behind doors and curtains or under duvet where you can always easily find them!

twinklenicci · 08/03/2017 21:03

my youngest has 'her cave' apparently. What it actually is , is the space under my dressing table where she loves to hide. She has even hidden in my wardrobe before now and i spent 20 minutes frantically trying to find her. shes 3 by the way and a little terror at times

InvisibleKittenAttack · 08/03/2017 21:17

DD posts lots of things through the front door of her dolls house, keys, DHs work pass, cash....

maisiesnan · 08/03/2017 21:47

When my two boys were 5 and 3 they loved to play hide and seek the problem was that the youngest very often found somewhere to hide then promptly fell asleep. After much frantic searching we found him once fast asleep in the wardrobe and once inside the tumble dryer.....Thankfully I never ever left it plugged in unless I was using it.

kerryv · 08/03/2017 22:32

I quite often find wee notes hidden under my pillow. My daughter is very sweet x

cozza777 · 08/03/2017 23:10

Well our house isn't massive so my son doesn't have to many options but he tends to hide behind doors, he's so skinny that you would never think anyone could get behind there but he does.

Pikmin · 08/03/2017 23:20

My son took one look at our last hotel room & promptly relocated his bed to under the desk, he takes after me as I always loved a good den. 😍

sbruin1122 · 08/03/2017 23:29

We found my eldest in his 'den' inside the sofa bed!

wjanice121 · 09/03/2017 07:08

We had a couple of loose floorboard in the cupboard under the stairs and my son went through a period of moving a couple and climbing in. He could crawl under the floor in the living room by doing this. My husband had to fix them down and we bought a piece of carpet to put there to stop him.

cwalliss82 · 09/03/2017 08:14

My DG went through a phase of going behind the sofa. She used to take toys and food back there and I have even found her asleep back there. It is now the first place I look when she says that she can't find something.

TheSpottedZebra · 09/03/2017 09:12

My DS used to hide his snaffled goodies in the cat's bed. And try to blame it on the cat.
My cat was old and honest and wasn't actually into those mini bags of Haribo. ..

MakeTeaNotWar · 09/03/2017 09:50

Unfortunately when DS was 2, he used to "hide" lots of things in the bin including my lovely new watch that I'd taken off to have a shower Sad
