To celebrate the launch of the latest Smurfs film, Smurfs: The Lost Village, in cinemas March 31, we'd like to hear all about your kids’ favourite hiding places. What are the oddest places things have been lost and found in your house? Please share your stories in the thread below.

Here’s what Smurfs has to say about their latest film: “In this all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest, to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. It’s a Smurftastic adventure!”

So, which weird and wonderful places have your DC picked out as hiding spots? Perhaps they've lost a treasured possession after putting it somewhere for "safe keeping"? Or have you found 'hidden' snacks in the crack between their bed and the wall? Toys in the depths of the airing cupboard? Notes from school stuffed in the fridge? (Perhaps you're guilty of some of these yourself!)

Or perhaps you've found your child hiding somewhere unusual - in the dog basket, or in the laundry under a pile of dirty pants and socks? Maybe you discovered they’d turned your favourite geranium bush into a top secret spy headquarters?

Whatever your story, Smurfs would like to hear it so please post it below. Everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Smurfs: The Lost Village will hit UK cinemas March 31, with special preview screenings March 25 and 26.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Awesome often find small treasures tucked into the frame under our dining table

glad25 · 12/03/2017 22:33

my DS always hid in his bed, he never got it that I could see the bump lol

frenchfancy89 · 13/03/2017 01:53

the most recent hiding place for my youngest was under my dress as I was picking him up from childcare Blush

NauticalDisaster · 13/03/2017 09:24

I just bought my youngest one of those novelty cups with the straw on the outside. His hiding place for his new treasure was in the recycling bag! Thank goodness I found it before I put the recycling out!

When my eldest was a toddler we were out mooching round the shops. He thought it would be great if he went and hid inside the clothes on one of those circular clothes rails. It happened in a split second and the panic I felt when I realised he had disappeared was awful. As my shouting & screaming got louder, a heard his little giggle. I was furious at the time but couldn't shout at him for crying with relief. Lesson learned for the future though - no clothes shopping with him ever again!

I have found my DS hiding in our bin! I coudlnt find him for ages and was in serious panic mode. Eventually he came out of hiding after some verbal bribes about getting chocolate!

angiehoggett · 13/03/2017 15:25

We have a bed with underneath storage so my son has a habit of climbing in there and hiding since he realised he could actually fit inside!

StickChildNumberTwo · 13/03/2017 16:24

I loved the stage where my daughter was very into hide and seek, but only had one hiding place - under the covers on her bed! It was very sweet to watch, although if I was seeking I got pretty bored of loudly looking everywhere else before finding her.

When Dd was nearly 3, we bought her bunk beds. I was heavily pregnant with ds at the time.

I went to the loo one night and on my way back checked on Dd. Bed empty! Presumed she had got up and was with DH. But she wasn't we started searching the house in a panic. We finally found her bunk bedsGrin.

We reckon she had got out to go to the toilet and in a sleepy haze had gone under the bed thinking it was the bottom bunk.

She did it about 4/5 times.

Our toddler loves wrapping herself up in the curtain

Bellroyd · 14/03/2017 08:16

In the coal bunker - was missing for half an hour - couldn't help but laugh when he came out black saying he was hungry.

Turkeyneck · 14/03/2017 11:18

My DS loves to hide inside the LOCKERS at the swimming pool! He's very nimble and slim so he has no trouble getting right inside even at age 5. He closes the door completely and stays absolutely quiet. He thinks it's hilarious while I get slowly panicked opening every locker trying to find him (there's loads of them). And looking like a total loon to all the onlookers! Unfortunately my DD has started copying him now too.......

stewaris · 14/03/2017 19:08

My nephew hid under his uncles bed, fell asleep and half the street out looking for him as he was only 3. 2 hours later he emerged and wondered what all the fuss was about - after we'd called the police. If he goes missing under beds, or anywhere he can get under, is now the first place we look!

funkypyjamas · 14/03/2017 19:29

DS is rubbish at hiding himself, as soon as we finish counting to 10 he runs out of his hiding place and says "here I am"!

He's good at hiding 'stuff' though. A few weeks ago he hid his favourite soft toy and couldn't remember where it was. After looking for it all weekend, we all flopped down on the sofa, put our heads back and burst out laughing as we spotted the toy stuck on top of the ceiling light where he must have thrown it. Grin

MerlinsBeard87 · 14/03/2017 20:34

My ds likes to hide in our utility cupboard. I wonder where he is and I hear him giggling in there. He also has a bad habit of hiding our bath plug. His granny was babysitting once when I was out and fancied a bath but couldn't find the plug. I forgot to tell her it was probably down the back of our bed!

Rigbyroo · 14/03/2017 20:38

Always in the nappy or in the cracks of the floorboards, that fiver is never going To be seen again!

sophiefx · 14/03/2017 20:43

My DD loves to hide under my quilt, although we can see her, we of course do the usual "Where is Olivia?" "She's gone, that's it we can't find her!". Nothing can compare to our little ones giggles under the duvet :-)

Maiyakat · 14/03/2017 21:48

DD appears to have magic pockets in her coat which hold an endless stream of random things! Lately there have been twigs, toy coins, real coins, shopkins, a pencil, a pony..... When it comes to hiding herself she likes the gap between the sofa and the radiator. Not sure how longer she'll fit in there though!

pinkspideruk · 15/03/2017 01:08

we thought H was missing once as couldnt find her anywhere - cue massive panic - but she had snook into her big brothers bedroom and was curled up under the crumpled duvet on his bed (he really needs to start making his bed) and fallen asleep!

greenclip · 15/03/2017 09:46

My DS likes to play hide and seek on his own. He hids a toy and then has to find it. He comes up with some quite clever hiding places, but all a bit pointless when he was the one who put it there.

danigrace · 15/03/2017 10:09

This made me think of one of my young cousins (who I've often looked after for a few days at a time and taken on holidays since she was a baby) she's always been an adventurer and is far too good at hiding!! One time she climbed into the cereal cupboard (a low cupboard) and arranged the boxes in front of her to 'make me jump'!! Lol. However the worst was a similar plan of hers when she covered herself with folded clothes in the airing cupboard and then accidentally dosed off whilst I was frantically trying to find her!!

Teatowelfairy · 15/03/2017 10:14

DS has never been much good at hiding. The weirdest place he has hid was behind the conservatory door, obviously the door is completely glass so he just looked like he was squatting in the garden! Grin

Redhotchillidog · 15/03/2017 15:36

My DS seems to think that hiding behind his fingers means I cannot see him. Hidden snacks, generally cereal, appear in all nooks and crannies around the house. My favourite though is his wellie boots, although i have found various items appear in my work bag that end up making me smile during the day.

sarahbrokenshire · 15/03/2017 17:42

The washing machine or under the kitchen sink :)

25bottles · 15/03/2017 18:53

How about directly behind me so that I trip over him when I don't realise that he's there.
