To celebrate the launch of the latest Smurfs film, Smurfs: The Lost Village, in cinemas March 31, we'd like to hear all about your kids’ favourite hiding places. What are the oddest places things have been lost and found in your house? Please share your stories in the thread below.

Here’s what Smurfs has to say about their latest film: “In this all-new take on the Smurfs, a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy, and Hefty on an exciting race through the Forbidden Forest, to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. It’s a Smurftastic adventure!”

So, which weird and wonderful places have your DC picked out as hiding spots? Perhaps they've lost a treasured possession after putting it somewhere for "safe keeping"? Or have you found 'hidden' snacks in the crack between their bed and the wall? Toys in the depths of the airing cupboard? Notes from school stuffed in the fridge? (Perhaps you're guilty of some of these yourself!)

Or perhaps you've found your child hiding somewhere unusual - in the dog basket, or in the laundry under a pile of dirty pants and socks? Maybe you discovered they’d turned your favourite geranium bush into a top secret spy headquarters?

Whatever your story, Smurfs would like to hear it so please post it below. Everyone who posts will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Smurfs: The Lost Village will hit UK cinemas March 31, with special preview screenings March 25 and 26.

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

my son once hid in the wash basket ( which was full of dirty smelly clothes ), unpleasant, and no one would look in there for ages

DesignedForLife · 10/03/2017 20:57

My DD likes to hide under her big plastic see-saw, with her bum & legs sticking out. She finds it hilarious Grin

rhinosuze · 10/03/2017 21:10

She just hides in plain.sight by putting her head on her knees, makes us laugh

sweir1 · 10/03/2017 21:34

Under the stairs!

tubbyj · 10/03/2017 22:09

In the park where the wood / organic pile is there is a sleeper at the back that DS can hide behind, and never be seen....

grannybiker · 10/03/2017 22:20

We used to have floorboards in the living room and behind the sofa was a slight gap down which was posted many strange items. My credit card, bike padlock key, odd items of post.... of course, NOBODY ever admitted to doing the deed, so must have been the fairies!

MrsFrTedCrilly · 10/03/2017 22:31

My children can't hide for toffee! I absolutely love playing hide and seek with them as they'll both be sniggering behind the living room curtains..it's great for 5minutes peace "hunting" them down!!!

My LO loves the whizz his cars around in the kitchen & I frequently find a vast collection of them under the oven!
My favourite though is my friend's LO - friend put the oven on to heat up to prepare dinner - returned to lounge to play with her boys, only returning to investigate the smell of melting plastic emanating from the oven.. she opened the door to find Peppa Pig's car, complete with all the family members, slowly melting upon the oven shelf. Turns out her son had hidden Peppa & co in the oven earlier that day.. oops!
My LO likes to hide from me regularly - I got a bit cocky about it, always assuming his hiding places would be so obvious he would never make me jump.. however.. I walked into his room the other night with toothbrushing equipment - he leapt out from behind the door screaming 'RAAARRRR!!' & I jumped about a foot in the air, throwing half the tootbrushing water over the carpet - he was delighted with this response & now keeps jumping out at me in the hope of getting a repeat performance!

My DS is only 18 months so even though he loves hiding he doesn't really get it. While he's eating he shuts his eyes and 'hides' behind a spoon. Of course we all play along and he finds it absolutely hilarious. It's very cute!

claza93 · 11/03/2017 08:23

My second daughter loves to hide in the wardrobe with a book and a torch when she wants time to herself or when she has been told off!

UpOnDown · 11/03/2017 13:24

Their favourite way of hiding is to shut their eyes.

rachelmi · 11/03/2017 15:31

The linen box has been a long time favourite but now we know where to look first! lol

tamalyn1 · 11/03/2017 18:02

in the cupboard under the stairs in the washing basket under the clothes lol took me ages to find my son once as he had fallen asleep lol

muppet1501 · 11/03/2017 18:55

My DD likes to hide between the sofa and wall, the small wash basket (she puts over the top of her) and her wardrobe! My eldest likes to hide everything else including clothes, wrappers and well anything really because its too much effort to put it away properly.

babybrainismyexcuseforlife · 11/03/2017 19:27

My daughter was playing hide and seek at her grandfathers house and he has one of those baths with legs, she hid underneath it!!!! Took her daddy ages to find her 😂
My 1 yr old hides behinds the curtains Bear

andymorris · 11/03/2017 20:15

mine just hide under things ..they creative little minds

chrismse · 11/03/2017 21:00

My kids always hid their special things behind the dog basket, it was as if they wanted the dog to guard them. So cute.
they weren`t so careful with my stuff which I found anywhere from bed to bathroom.

Gerjuice · 11/03/2017 21:28

DS is great at hiding...behind curtains, in wardrobes and under tables...problem is he calls out 'I'm here!' defeating the whole purpose! Makes us laugh each time.

llewejk · 11/03/2017 21:54

Our kitchen cupboard!

Whoever thought to put an air vent in a wall at almost floor level? I noticed some paper slightly sticking out of ours and couldn't quite retrieve it. It was quite a faff to remove it, but totally worth it. Found £170 in bank notes, some old photos, wedding invitation I blamed DH for chucking out....obviously someone thought it was a postbox! The awful thing is, we are not mega wealthy and would have noticed that sum of money go missing, and besides, we don't leave money hanging around. Maybe the previous occupants?

pongopig · 12/03/2017 17:00

We once couldn't find my DS at a friend's house. I think he had had enough of company and he curled up very quietly on a bean bag. He was hiding in plain sight though because his outfit matched the bean-bag - it was a frantic five minutes looking for him.

Oxfordshirelocaleditor · 12/03/2017 17:59

Right at the back of the cupboard under the stairs where it is just too small for me to get in - this is his favourite place for his and seek (fortunately he is a noisy breather so I know I where he is) Hmm

stefalfie11 · 12/03/2017 18:36

The washing basket is a firm favorite of DD's

Maclairey · 12/03/2017 20:43

DS1 takes the plastic sink out of his toy kitchen and fills the quite large hole up with any toy that will fit. This means when you open the kitchen cupboard door under the sink, all the toys fall out. He finds it hilarious. DS2 who is nearly two has taken to hiding things in the bin. Last week I found 6 of DS1's colouring pencils, two hot wheels cars, a toy screwdriver and a toot toot fire engine in the kitchen bin. Great eh? Lol.

meggysar · 12/03/2017 20:59

The draws under the bed seem to be the favourite at the moment!
