To celebrate the launch of New Pampers Baby-Dry, Pampers are working with baby sleep expert Jo Tantum - who has 25 years’ experience helping hundreds of families to achieve a peaceful night’s sleep. Jo has identified 5 sleep typologies that may help you to understand your baby’s sleep habits and needs better and we’ve been asked by Pampers to find out which sleep typology best represents your little one? Take a read and post on the thread below to be in with a chance of winning a £300 John Lewis voucher!

Here’s what Pampers has to say about their new launch: "If your little one loves to keep you awake, then you’re certainly not alone! But, having a good night’s sleep is crucial for babies; it’s when important brain development occurs and they process everything they have learnt during the day. With experts believing that wetness may impact your little one’s sleep, their overnight nappy needs to work as hard as possible; introducing New Pampers Baby-Dry, which 83% of Mumsnet parent testers said they would recommend as part of a recent trial! New Pampers Baby-Dry feature a revolutionary nappy design with 3 Absorbing Channels that distribute wetness more evenly for less wet bulk in the morning!"

To launch the New Pampers Baby-Dry nappy, Pampers are working with Jo - and want you to be involved. So, is your little one a Starfish, Skylark, Sloth, Owl or Meerkat sleeper? Take a look and let us know - and if your DC doesn’t seem to fit one of these categories, choose your own animal and post it below telling us why!

Starfish: Sleeps in the same position, on their back with legs out. Uses you as a sleep prop, for example sleep-rocking or feeding, then they don’t move. Wakes often and regularly, but does go back to sleep easily after intervention. You would rather they slept through!
Skylark: Awake early in the morning, singing and shouting and refuses to go back to sleep whatever you try!
Sloth: Loves to sleep and can sleep anywhere and everywhere. A great sleeper, day and night – lucky you! But what happens when they wake up? Well you know it’s going to be for a growth or developmental spurt or they are teething or not well.
Owl: Goes to bed late and wakes in the night. Is wide awake for long periods and can’t get back to sleep!
Meerkat: Stands up, moves around trying to get comfortable all night, doesn’t want to sleep; always on high alert. Late to bed, early to rise.

What sleep typology best represents your little one, or ones? Share your baby sleep stories – whether restful or restless, Pampers would love to hear about it! Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

My oldest wasa. Sloth

The youngest is a meerkat

goneswimming · 30/08/2016 19:54

I've got a starfish here! He sleeps ever so well apart from waking for feeds every two hours (nearly seven months old!) but they're almost dreamfeeds and he goes straight back to sleep straight afterwards, zonked out until next feed. I'd love him to sleep through but at least with BabyDry I don't have to do a midnight nappy and wake him fully!

firsttimemum15 · 30/08/2016 21:31

Starfish and little picker in the night. Slept well until 5 months since then has been awake on the hour every hour pretty much

Mummybear1988 · 30/08/2016 22:14

mine is a starfish! bedshared for 18 months and still comes in occasionally. am woken to the cries of "mummy" and demands for cuddles to go back to sleep.! then greeted with beaming grins in the morning. I wouldn't have him any other way!

jandoc · 31/08/2016 13:44

definitely a sloth, I would say!

Rose285 · 31/08/2016 13:51

My daughter is a mix of Meercat and Skylark.
It really depends on how busy we have been throughout the day. She'll wrestle with her bedding until it's just right before settling

livinginhope87 · 31/08/2016 14:47

Skylark - I have the bags to show for it.

BananaDaiquiri · 31/08/2016 18:50

Half starfish, half octopus. Wakes multiple times, settles easily, but thrashes around in different positions

carolineandryanandseb · 31/08/2016 20:43

Our boy has always been a night owl, going to bed whenever we do but then 'sleeping through' pretty well. We've always bed-shared as a family and I've no complaints or regrets. The quirkiest things about his sleep habits is that he seems to have an inbuilt subconscious urge to swivel around and sleep across the bed rather than with his head at the top, and he chases us in his sleep so he is always in physical contact with one or the other of us (or both!) ... this usually leads to him having the middle 7/8ths of the bed (a super-kingsize!) and me and his dad perching precariously at either side. :)

buckley1983 · 31/08/2016 22:20

Mine is a starfish & always has been! He still wakes often even now, but never for long.
He is a motion addict & has always been soothed by rocking or swaying.. this was all fine when he was a wee one, now he is 3 - my arms are like Popeye's & my back has almost completely given up! Very early on, I found this would soothe him & in the middle of the night, it was a surefire way of ensuring everyone got some sleep!

bambooleaves · 01/09/2016 09:29

My eldest is a skylark. She always used to wake early and reuse to go back to sleep as a baby. And even now as a 6 year old she's often up before 6! But at least she can amuse herself now so we can stay in bed Smile

RayofFuckingSunshine · 01/09/2016 10:18

Mine is a tiny, sleep depriving dictator. Or a starfish, whichever you prefer. Wakes every 45 minutes, mostly just to check you're still there and screams blue murder if you're not. Will happily go to sleep on you but wakes and screams the minute you out her down. Good job she naps well during the day. Oh no, wait. She doesn't do that either.

angiehoggett · 01/09/2016 12:45

definitely an owl, she doesn't like going to bed!

Cambam2010 · 01/09/2016 13:11

I'll say Starfish but more of a Limpet - Constantly attached for feeding and the only way to get him to sleep. Easy enough to get to sleep but only me capable of doing it due to having the boobs. Stays asleep for a fair amount of time but wish I wasn't reliant on feeding him to get him to sleep.

MotherStar · 01/09/2016 16:46

My children are dogs/Labradors?! (Not very romantic but I couldn't think of a better animal) they are good sleepers and most importantly LOVE their routine. My 18 month old goes to sleep and wakes up at the same time every day and has from a young age as have my older 3. Hopefully number 5 (due in a few weeks) will follow suit.

Charbru123 · 01/09/2016 22:15

Meerkat!

beckyinman · 01/09/2016 22:15

Routine, routine, routine!

BertieBotts · 01/09/2016 22:20

Actually that's v. true.

Was starfish from birth until about 3 years, then owl. Still owly now at 7.

woodenmouse · 02/09/2016 09:53

My 6mo is an owl. He hardly sleeps I'm lucky if he has 8 hours in a 24 hour period. Me and his dad are exhausted as we are up for large parts of the night with him! I hope it's just a phase as he was a wonderful sleeper until 2 weeks ago.

LadyFlumpalot · 02/09/2016 11:53

I've got an owl, possibly a meerkat. Maybe a hybrid, an owlkat.

She hates going to sleep and will loudly declare that she is "NOT TIRED" even when her eyes are closing, she will wake several times in the night because she's thrown her covers off, but is cheery as anything in the morning with a loud declaration of "it's MORNING TIME mummy!"

DinosaursRoar · 02/09/2016 19:15

Meerkat.

Givemecoffeeplease · 02/09/2016 19:20

Skylark. A 5 am Skylark. I'm broken. Apparently it's developmental so just have to wait it out and hope he wakes later. Argh.

Zeitgei5t · 02/09/2016 19:21

Dd1 definitely a Meerkat! Dd2 much easier sleeper, possibly a sloth when she's older (still wakes for feeds at night)

sarah861421 · 02/09/2016 22:05

routine, routine, and nice warnings of time.

ftovey7 · 02/09/2016 22:27

Mine is definitely an Owl:
Owl: Goes to bed late and wakes in the night. Is wide awake for long periods and can’t get back to sleep!
