To celebrate the launch of New Pampers Baby-Dry, Pampers are working with baby sleep expert Jo Tantum - who has 25 years’ experience helping hundreds of families to achieve a peaceful night’s sleep. Jo has identified 5 sleep typologies that may help you to understand your baby’s sleep habits and needs better and we’ve been asked by Pampers to find out which sleep typology best represents your little one? Take a read and post on the thread below to be in with a chance of winning a £300 John Lewis voucher!

Here’s what Pampers has to say about their new launch: "If your little one loves to keep you awake, then you’re certainly not alone! But, having a good night’s sleep is crucial for babies; it’s when important brain development occurs and they process everything they have learnt during the day. With experts believing that wetness may impact your little one’s sleep, their overnight nappy needs to work as hard as possible; introducing New Pampers Baby-Dry, which 83% of Mumsnet parent testers said they would recommend as part of a recent trial! New Pampers Baby-Dry feature a revolutionary nappy design with 3 Absorbing Channels that distribute wetness more evenly for less wet bulk in the morning!"

To launch the New Pampers Baby-Dry nappy, Pampers are working with Jo - and want you to be involved. So, is your little one a Starfish, Skylark, Sloth, Owl or Meerkat sleeper? Take a look and let us know - and if your DC doesn’t seem to fit one of these categories, choose your own animal and post it below telling us why!

Starfish: Sleeps in the same position, on their back with legs out. Uses you as a sleep prop, for example sleep-rocking or feeding, then they don’t move. Wakes often and regularly, but does go back to sleep easily after intervention. You would rather they slept through!
Skylark: Awake early in the morning, singing and shouting and refuses to go back to sleep whatever you try!
Sloth: Loves to sleep and can sleep anywhere and everywhere. A great sleeper, day and night – lucky you! But what happens when they wake up? Well you know it’s going to be for a growth or developmental spurt or they are teething or not well.
Owl: Goes to bed late and wakes in the night. Is wide awake for long periods and can’t get back to sleep!
Meerkat: Stands up, moves around trying to get comfortable all night, doesn’t want to sleep; always on high alert. Late to bed, early to rise.

What sleep typology best represents your little one, or ones? Share your baby sleep stories – whether restful or restless, Pampers would love to hear about it! Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one Mumsnetter will win a £300 John Lewis voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

We drilled both ours so that they go to sleep at 7 and sleep til 7. The ask to go to bed!

kateandme · 03/09/2016 13:28

a sloth with many other mingled in haha
loves to sleep but can have moments of the others.and when up is sprightly and can then fidget, and can cry and whine but loves to snuggle down when eased.

euromorris · 03/09/2016 15:42

A combination of Starfish and Skylark.

At 9 weeks old she generally goes down well (around 7.30pm each night), sleeps in the same position all night, and (typically) only wakes once during the night. But....is up at the crack of dawn and that's it. No getting back to sleep then.

I cannot, however, get her to sleep anywhere other than my (or Daddy's) arms during the day, for love nor money! Any tips on that one would be greatly appreciated!

WowOoo · 03/09/2016 22:25

Mine are both skylarks. My youngest has a bit of meerkat thrown in. It's funny that one child is such a light sleeper and the other didn't wake when there was a loud fire engine in our street! He slept through a fireworks show too.

victria · 03/09/2016 23:57

So far my son (12 weeks) is a sloth except when he was unwell with reflux and colic in the early days. Long may the sloth continue!

missmayup · 04/09/2016 19:49

I have a starfish and a meerkat under the same roof and in the same room! Starfish is two, often sneaks into mummy and daddies bed with catlike stealthiness. Meerkat is one wakes up because she can hear oxygen being converted into co2, (and wants breastfeeding every time she wakes) so we've got one waking the other cos he's sneaking out, and one waking the other crying for a feed she doesn't really need! Both of them have slept through the night together a handful of times, even with strict routine! Haven't slept properly in nearly 3 years, send help. And wine! Wine

sandy31 · 04/09/2016 20:19

Starfish definitely, both of mine e had the same sleep position.

Sierra259 · 04/09/2016 22:40

My 2 have been somewhere between Starfish and Sloth. They slept pretty well at night from about 2-3 months and consistently through from 5 months, but if they woke they needed feeding or just me/DH cuddling or in the room with them to go back to sleep. They both refused point blank to sleep in our bed, so have spent many a night dozing on the floor next to the cot!

Not so great napping anywhere during the day. DC2 particularly prefers the buggy or preferably on the boob to the cot, and only takes quite short naps. Like pp's though, I'd rather have good nights!

Maiyakat · 05/09/2016 12:38

Skylark, with a bit of Starfish thrown in for good measure

Mine is definitely a Sloth thank goodness. Enjoying every minute whilst it lasts!

sjl19 · 07/09/2016 13:05

My little girl is definitely a Skylark. She is always up early and shouts for us from her cot.

shydaylily · 08/09/2016 12:58

lots of cuddles, make them feel safe and low light.

rocketriffs · 10/09/2016 09:19

He would be an Orang Utan. Clings on to Mum or Dad then snoozes off still clinging on.

mynellie · 10/09/2016 16:13

Our son is a sloth so much so that after we had toilet trained him and he was dry over night too he must have been so sleep he had picked up his pillow peed underneath it and put it down and went back to sleep i was totally baffled in the morning wondering why his head was wet but the rest of him dry till i picked up the pillow oh dear that was a really weird morning and an expensive pee as new pillow and new mattress was needed

melmoo · 10/09/2016 20:50

DD1 was a sloth but has matured into a Skylark. DD2 simply didn't sleep for the first 18 months. He was also misserable during the day. We took him to a cranial ostiopath out of desperation and either becuase of that (or by complete coincidence) not only did his dosposition change but he has been a sloth ever since.

Martan · 11/09/2016 09:35

My N started off as a starfish sleeping style but now thankfully he is a sloth. Naps at least an hour during the day and throughout the night so far 🤗. It wasn't all like this though, in the very beginning it was a very tricky to put him down for naps. I am thanking my lucky stars that sleeping habits have changed!

Bellroyd · 11/09/2016 09:41

Our youngest used to regularly fall asleep standing up and although leaning slightly against the arm of the chair used to be able to support himself. Bet he can't do it now!

TLAF · 11/09/2016 10:26

Mine is a sloth. We were blessed:-)

goose1964 · 11/09/2016 11:25

DD was a sloth - put her herself to bed as soon she could get into her cot unaided, th eteo boys were a skylark & an owl

iamsaranna · 11/09/2016 16:14

Both of mine are skylarks

Kangakate · 11/09/2016 17:42

Little girl not here yet and I'm not entirely sure which one I'd like her be, maybe and evening Sloth if I can take the bit I like!

clarkster · 11/09/2016 17:57

definitely starfish like his mam

cluckyhen · 11/09/2016 19:46

Oh I have such a skylark! 4am is the usual wake up time - nothing works, even late nights

Ferryfairy · 11/09/2016 20:07

Meerkat
