The end of the school year is fast approaching, (or perhaps already here for some of you), and notonthehighstreet.com are keen to hear how your children show appreciation to their teachers at the end of the school year.

Here’s what notonthehighstreet.com have to say: “Whether you're overjoyed about the little one's grades or just want to say thanks for coping with a whole class of kids, we've hundreds of brilliant gift ideas that'll leave teacher smiling 'til next term”

Visit this page they have pulled together with ideas for teachers gifts and tell us which ones you think your child’s teacher would love to receive (and you’d love to give!) by leaving a comment below.

Teachers of Mumsnet, we know you might well say no gift is necessary but if your arm was twisted, we’d also love to know what your ideal end of year gift would be.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 notonthehighstreet.com voucher!

Thanks and good luck with the prize draw!

Have already ordered my teacher cards from noths last week they have a great selection. Chocolates from my ds for his teacher.

shydaylily · 11/07/2016 16:25

sending a thank you card

Catsgowoof · 11/07/2016 16:34

I have a lot of teacher friends so no chocolate, best teacher mugs or projects lovingly made by my kid...

I go for nice message in card or vouchers/something I know they definitely like if it's an above and beyond teacher

Flanderspigeonmurderer · 11/07/2016 16:51

I'm getting some notebooks and probably chocolate for my sons teacher and TAs.

mo3733 · 11/07/2016 18:07

a homemade gift is so much better than shop bought stuff

stefalfie11 · 11/07/2016 19:42

We often make a fruit basket - its really appreciated as it makes a welcome change from chocolate and wine. You can also make it look really pretty by wrapping it up in celophane and some pretty ribbon.

We always get a personalised card from NOTHS and usually flowers, but this year got the personalised teacher candle again from NOTHS

KittyKat88 · 11/07/2016 22:10

My DD1's class do a collection at Christmas and end of year. Parents contribute £5 each and then we buy shopping vouchers for the main teachers and also the TAs. I think it's a nice way of thanking them for their hard work. This year, I've taken on the end of year collection and decided to ask all the children to draw a picture and/or write a special message for their teacher which I will then create a collage to print and laminate as a keepsake for her - it is their teacher's first teaching job since qualifying so we really wanted to go the extra mile for her!

feeona123 · 11/07/2016 22:26

My daughter is in nursery at the moment but I think you can't beat wine and chocolate!

SnugglySnerd · 12/07/2016 10:02

We get a lot of chocolate but cakes for the staffroom always go down well, especially homemade.
I've had some lovely gifts linked to to the subject I teach. Beer/wine always goes down well too.

Leeds2 · 12/07/2016 12:57

I like the NOTH personalised candles and, also, the pencil personalised notebook.

I am not a teacher but, if I were, I would like a new book to put in the classroom library, maybe with something from the child written on the front page.

Byrdie · 12/07/2016 14:14

This year we did a 'fun pack' with just fun silly things (i.e water balloons) which is right for my childs teacher. Last gifts flr otjer teachers included homemade keyrings and the like. Depends on the teacher surely?! If i was a teacher i think i'd like a book full of photos, memories and messages from the kids for that year.

TeaTowelQueen · 12/07/2016 14:32

I keep it small but (hopefully) thoughtful - this year it's a tote bag with the words 'I'm a teacher, what's your superpower?' on the side. Got myself one which said 'I make G&Ts disappear, what's your superpower?' Blush

Last year it was a notebook with an inspirational quotation about teaching on the front, my DS really loves school and I appreciate how much work goes into making him feel like that!

finova · 12/07/2016 16:44

I like the organic handmade toiletries- look gorgeous.
The Jasmine is lovely.
I like the wooden pencil case too and it's a bit more affordable.

Reed88 · 12/07/2016 16:45

I've never given a teacher a present but a few of my friends work as teachers and I know they treasure the memories with the kids so maybe a scrapbook or memory book which is signed with little messages by the class.

sukindred · 12/07/2016 17:23

I am a teacher and don't expect presents at all but a couple of the nicest I have been given were a carefully worded note in a fancy box which I still have 15 years later and a tagul word cloud made up of my name subject I taught and things about that and words to describe me and the times we had which is really lovely.

sarah861421 · 12/07/2016 18:46

This is the job and shouldn't need presents, but if appropriate, an handmade card / cake etc would be good. In yr 6, I gave a particularly good teacher a handmade personalised calander. It cost about £3 ( vista ) but had pictures from the previous year and was really good

Uzma01 · 12/07/2016 19:04

Home baked goodies like chocolate chip cookies, muffins or mini Victoria sponges go down a treat. Plus any gluten free alternatives like I did for my DD's teacher around her birthday.

mumsnit · 12/07/2016 19:07

I have quite a few friends who are teachers so hence I will always buy wine for my kids teachers at the end of term Grin

Therefore I'd go for the 'tipple' option from the suggested present list!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/07/2016 19:15

I tended to go for consumable gifts - chocolate etc - because if 30 children each year give the teacher a picture/ornament/mug, they simply won't have room for them all.

A card written by the child, and something that gets eaten, drunk or used up means the teacher doesn't have to find space for lots of stuff.

I gather, from other threads on this issue, that stationery is often popular with teachers.

MaGratgarlik1983 · 12/07/2016 21:32

I would get a 'world's best teacher' mug.

ShatnersBassoon · 12/07/2016 21:43

I would get a 'world's best teacher' mug.

These things don't get given out willy-nilly Hmm. There's one awarded worldwide every year.

Rigbyroo · 12/07/2016 21:43

I'm a teacher and my ideal gift is pretty notepaper or notebooks. I also dream of getting a lovely candle!!

Rigbyroo · 12/07/2016 21:44

Oh or a personalised stamp!

Rigbyroo · 12/07/2016 21:44

Or gin! Ginning is winning.
