As part of the Disney Healthy Living campaign, this week Disney are launching their new #HealthilyEverAfter week. They’d love to hear about what your top tips are for encouraging your family to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

Here’s what Disney says “We know parents can find it a challenge to ensure their children are eating well and being active - and when they are trying to get their whole family to develop good habits, we believe Disney can help make it fun and simple. The #HealthilyEverAfter campaign uses the power of our stories and characters to inspire these behaviours and encourage parents to share their tips with other families around the UK”

So, how do you encourage your family to embrace a healthier lifestyle? Maybe you’ve created some fun games to get your DCs to keep active? Or perhaps you try to make sure your children are getting a balanced diet and try new foods? Whatever you do to encourage your family to be healthy Disney would love to hear about it.

For more information on the Disney Healthily Ever After campaign and how can you use Disney as inspiration to encourage your family to be healthy, take a look at the video below:

Please note: Disney may well use your anonymous comments on their website, on social media as well as possibly elsewhere.

Everyone who adds a comment will be entered in to a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Disney Store voucher.

Thanks & good luck,
MNHQ

My nephew takes his little girl on hikes in the West Pennines & Lake District. She's not quite 3 yet so he has a big back pack which he carries her in when she can't quite manage but she loves her Daddy days out in the fresh air. I taught him how to cook healthy meals using substitutes such as fromage frais & yogurt instead of cheese sauce & cream & using quorn instead of minced beef. When they come to my house Olivia loves to play in the garden & discover what's in the woods beyond as she loves animals of all kinds & there's lots of wildlife in there including a family of 7 badgers which visit my garden at night.

The beach is usually a great way to exercise even in the winter - and its fun - you can skim stones which my kids love. Also the country parks put on some great family events so we like to try these too!

Nettie17 · 13/02/2016 09:43

I don't keep sweets or chocolate or cakes or fizzy drinks in the cupboard that way if they have any it's more of a treat and often they forget to even ask.

julieef · 13/02/2016 09:48

I very rarely make chips, they are a treat, I always try to use potatoes like baked boiled, lots of pasta meals and make sure everyone has plenty of fruit and veg. We have always done this since they were small to encourage them to eat healthy. It has been hard sometimes, but on the whole they do eat and then can hasve a small treat

wjanice121 · 13/02/2016 09:52

We use the outdoor gym facilities in our local park. The kids think its a game not exercise.

hdh747 · 13/02/2016 09:58

There's nothing like growing your own fruit and veg to get everyone to embrace eating lots of it. Kids love to be able to pick and eat something and everyone loves how fresh it all is.

At this time of year we get out to feed the ducks a lot - lots of walking and fresh air and the ducks aren't generally overfed in the winter so are very noisy and enthusiastic which is great fun.

Disguise fruit in frozen smoothies as an alternative to ice cream

KittyKat88 · 13/02/2016 10:15

I encourage my DDs to be active - even if it's in the house, they love nothing better than tipping the cushions off the sofa onto the floor and make their own 'softplay'! I also call fruit portions they have after meals their 'treats' so that they don't associate treats with only chocolate or sweets! I also ensure that they drink plenty of water during the day.

LuckyBluie · 13/02/2016 10:29

We grow our own fruit and vegetables and my little boy has been involved in the process from a very young age. We practice yoga every week and walk our dogs everyday together Smile

A few weeks ago, I was eating a satsuma and took the peel off all in one piece and showed my 7 year old daughter. She was so amazed by this she has been trying to do it too, but can't quite manage it! This has resulted in the eating of lots of satsumas while she practises :-D

KAKADU2001 · 13/02/2016 10:47

Start the kids very early in their lives and such things as eating healthily and exercise become normal daily activities. For example we took our kids swimming when they were only a few weeks old. At the end of the day it's up to parents to make their own decisions as to how they want to bring the kids up. I have been a Vegan for over 35 years but never put any of my beliefs on our offspring who all eat animal products. There are all in their late 30s and early 40s now.

devito92 · 13/02/2016 11:01

Alaways provide a wide range of foods on their dinner plate. Even if you think the food dosen't go together as a meal.

rachelmi · 13/02/2016 11:26

Buying only healthy food and treats, modelling healthy behaviour and getting together for activities such as swimming or going to the gym ( my boys come along too).

tabbaz123 · 13/02/2016 11:43

We are really keen on outdoor life so are always active doing something! Our favourite activity at the moment is making sledges and going sledging down the shingle banks on the beach! We go beach combing too and encourage them to seek lots of bits and pieces for arts and crafts on a rainier day

createbeauty · 13/02/2016 11:45

My family has started following after me since I started working out and eating clean. I've replaced the buns on burgers with chinese lettuce leaves and haven't been missing the buns at all. I was surprised when my husband wanted to try it and actually enjoyed it! I've replaced the wraps in my tacos with chinese lettuce leaves as they make a perfect natural boat to hold the meat and have a great crispy crunch when eating. We also prefer grilled meat instead of fried! We try to walk for 30 minutes soon after dinner and it helps us wind down for the day before getting ready for bed!

amanda08 · 13/02/2016 11:51

We have dancing hour! twice a week the tv goes out, the music goes on, the sofa gets pushed back and we get our groove on! We laugh as much as we dance, do the silliest moves we can think of and have great work out at the same time :)

cookie09 · 13/02/2016 12:14

Make sure the whole family eats breakfast every day – people who eat breakfast are less likely to overeat later in the day. If time is an issue, choose speedy yet healthy items such as peanut butter on wholemeal toast, or porridge and fruit. Yum

handbar · 13/02/2016 12:19

I always have nutritional snacks at the ready. I also recommend juicing to make sure everyone stays healthy with juices that are a blend of fruits and vegetables.

Liquorice13 · 13/02/2016 12:41

We do lots of Treasure Trails, Geocaching and Xplorer Orienteering. Great fun and a way of keeping fit and healthy together as a family.

yatota74 · 13/02/2016 12:44

I try to cook healthy and balanced food from scratch and eat as a family not separate. Try to keep the children as active as possible and keep gadget time limited. My girls dance nearly 3 hours a week and we go on long walks at the weekends, now even more as we recently got a puppy.

Claraoswald36 · 13/02/2016 12:46

Get a dog. Get a dog, decent wellies and waterproof kit and explore everywhere. Oh and head torches! Get a national trust pass too if there are plenty of local facilities.
We have had the dog a year and I've really noticed the decline in coughs and colds this winter. Dd1 (6) especially has been untouched by ent type germs.
We do dance and gymnastics (both dds 3 and 6) every week too which they love but it's been the constant outdoor lifestyle we have adopted that's made the most difference.
The video is lovely I will show the dds later.

kerryv · 13/02/2016 12:55

We set targets and use reward charts. Eg for who eats the most veg without moaning

glennamy · 13/02/2016 13:26

We done this on a few fronts, first of all walking more for shorter journeys, we also use bikes as a family on dry days, we try to walk the dogs as much as we can over the farmer's fields. On the food front we are quite good although the latest bullet blender devices has helped this as a family.

fletcher992 · 13/02/2016 13:27

make activities fun- we go to the park with the dog and do scavenger hunts , race each other to certain points and the last one has to do something silly, make healthy eating fun by making food in funny shaped like faces, we like buffet type lunches where can pick your own bits. I always join in activities to set an example including going on swings, swimming and we've gone horse riding and biking too. try to vary activities and you'll find one they love to do again and again

shroney · 13/02/2016 13:43

we do weekly athletics and trampolining and since they were little I encouraged lots of fruit and veg especially raw veg which I cut up into chunks and they each have a bowl in the fridge which they can snack on throughtout the day.
