As part of the Disney Healthy Living campaign, this week Disney are launching their new #HealthilyEverAfter week. They’d love to hear about what your top tips are for encouraging your family to embrace a healthy lifestyle.

Here’s what Disney says “We know parents can find it a challenge to ensure their children are eating well and being active - and when they are trying to get their whole family to develop good habits, we believe Disney can help make it fun and simple. The #HealthilyEverAfter campaign uses the power of our stories and characters to inspire these behaviours and encourage parents to share their tips with other families around the UK”

So, how do you encourage your family to embrace a healthier lifestyle? Maybe you’ve created some fun games to get your DCs to keep active? Or perhaps you try to make sure your children are getting a balanced diet and try new foods? Whatever you do to encourage your family to be healthy Disney would love to hear about it.

For more information on the Disney Healthily Ever After campaign and how can you use Disney as inspiration to encourage your family to be healthy, take a look at the video below:

Please note: Disney may well use your anonymous comments on their website, on social media as well as possibly elsewhere.

Everyone who adds a comment will be entered in to a prize draw where one winner will receive a £300 Disney Store voucher.

Thanks & good luck,
MNHQ

Walk the dog - when we're out I set a target place ahead and they have races running to it - (the dog wins every time, but it's hilarious watching them try to block her)...
Trampoline in the garden - we put the music on and have a little session bouncing around to the tunes.
Also swimming - we all really enjoy this - a great all round activity we can do together.
Food wise - just try and be sensible and get some kind of balance in there. Our kids have always eaten what we do - I have never cooked 'kids meals', so the norm is, they eat 'real food'. We eat healthy the majority of the time. But everyone likes a treat some times!

We try and go for a walk at the weekend or go for a bike ride. We let our children take turns to decide where to go and we also count the miles we do. We are keen cyclists and cover a lot of miles so we have a treat everytime we reach 100 miles which again the boys take turns to decide on the treat.

Our children cycle to school everyday, plus weekly swimming lessons. They love being in the garden, going on the swings and trampoline. This keeps them active. I try to ensure they have a good balance of healthy food - I make everything but they do like my cakes and biscuits and I have to work hard to make sure they have enough fruit and veg.

Treasure hunt in the garden or park!!! I would go and hide something and leave clues in various places for them to follow. It promotes teamwork, friendship, healthy competition and fun - it also has people running around so staying healthy too! Especially so when a time limit is added!

CheeseEMouse · 12/02/2016 16:06

We walk everywhere and whatever the weather go to the park to run around and play. I always keep the fruit bowl stocked to keep as a healthy treat rather than biscuits

Dolallytats · 12/02/2016 18:13

The DC love jumping on my bed and DH does 'lightsaber' jumping with them (holding a lightsaber to make a high jump)

They also love having races. DS also loves playing the sports games on the xbox.

DC go to play football on Saturday when it is on and although DC2 is too young to join in , she plays in the park instead.

Most evenings after dinner a plate of fruit is chopped up and put on the table. For some reason this is eaten with much more enthusiasm than giving each child a piece.

sharond101 · 12/02/2016 19:58

We have lots of outdoors time and ds does swim lessons and soccer training. We walk thedog every day and eat lots of homemade healthy food.

Hopezibah · 12/02/2016 21:45

I think that getting outdoors whatever the weather is really important to help stay healthy. Not only does it get us all moving and having fun but it also helps lift our mood if we've been feeling a bit lethargic stuck indoors.

We love to find a new nature spot to go for a walk - however muddy it may be!

At different times of year there are different things to spot when outdoors - bunnies and daffodils in spring, wild flowers in the fields in summer, acorns and autumn leaves in autumn, icy leaves and twigs in winter.

duckbilled · 12/02/2016 22:06

In make sure I take my kids out every day to get some exercise, fresh air and occasionally sun! Sometimes it's to the playground, pond or with scooter/ bike.
I also have been trying to provide more raw vegetables for snack and keep fruit for mealtimes.

israrbaig · 13/02/2016 07:00

I tell my family that fruits unlike processed foods hold key benefits that will keep you feeling more younger than processed foods

cuddles159 · 13/02/2016 07:06

We go for daily walks after dinner which is actually really nice as we get to talk as a family. We cook feast meals most nights and I try and get the kids to Wat as much fruit as I can...hard work though

glenka · 13/02/2016 07:38

Always try to keep everything fun that way they will be more interested.

Paulo2576 · 13/02/2016 07:40

Making things fun is they key. try to make meals interesting and appealing to a young child is definitely the way to get an empty plate - even when its full of greens, i have found a bit of imagination in presentation often distracts them from the fact they are eating healthily.

bridge16 · 13/02/2016 07:46

We go for family exercise on Saturday. The kids take their scooters and we run. We stop and play a little bit of football at the school and then carry on. They love doing fitness with us and motivate us to go even when the weather is not great

maryandbuzz1 · 13/02/2016 07:55

We have a dog and as he has 3 walks a day we have to go out whatever the weather. We have become fanatical about trying new smoothies since Christmas when I was given a nutribullet!
Walking to school is something we have always done usually playing games along the way.

grumpymummy3 · 13/02/2016 08:33

Get out as a family as much as we can walking , bike riding, to the park etc
Hide the stuff they don't like in their food
Encourage them to try new things

mave · 13/02/2016 08:41

Family bike rides
My oldest daughter comes running with me occasionally
Get them involved in the cooking, cook from scratch
Essentially, be a good role model, my husband and I eat healthily and exercise so they know it's normal!

littlemonkeyz · 13/02/2016 08:44

Old skool! Lead by example and have a good daily routine. Eat well, sleep well and play well. Enjoy being outside in our beautiful planet, go for fun walks, there is always something interesting find outside your own doorstep. Be kind and try to be a little bit useful each and every day.

Anam110 · 13/02/2016 08:48

My son is a really picky eater! He decides what he wants to eat just by looking at it and if he finds it appealing, he starts with a little nibble. What i tend to do is shape his food as mickey mouse, as he's obsessed with all things Mickey.
He will eat ANYTHING if it looks like Mickey. We praise him when he eats healthy and basically just try not to buy the unhealthier options. And he loves eating what he has helped to make so I try and get him involved whenever I can!

janney3 · 13/02/2016 08:50

Our trampoline has been great, all kids love having time bouncing about. Not treating exercise as a chore and encouraging at least an hour of some sort of extra activity each day. A dog really helps with walking, he needs two walks a day whatever the weather.

VeryBusyDad · 13/02/2016 08:55

Lead by example, if you get out and run, cycle, swim or anything outdoors the children will want to do it with you, younger ones to join in and older ones to beat you.

clopper · 13/02/2016 09:00

We try not to buy too much 'rubbishy' food and once it's gone then it's gone, we don't buy more in the week. We meal plan and have one good long family walk during the weekend. Swimming is a great treat and we all like geocaching which adds interest to walks and makes us visit new places.

janeyf1 · 13/02/2016 09:11

By showing enthusiasm at doing active things together - such as a walk to the park after school, racing each other to get a prize (a cereal bar). For dinner, presentation is key. The little one is more likely to eat a healthy meal if it is colourful or shaped as a face. Even carrots and broccoli will be eaten if chopped up a certain way with ketchup for dipping

funkyfish586 · 13/02/2016 09:18

I think if a child is involved in the making of the food they are far more likely to eat it. We try at the weekend to make 'healthy' junk food. So homemade veggie pizzas, turkey burgers with guacamole & sweet potato chips. They seem to really enjoy preparing the food
