As part of their Good To Know campaign, McDonald’s have released three new videos to give a little bit more information on the ingredients they use in their products, and they’re keen to hear what Mumsnetters think. You may have noticed the recent threads we’ve had about McDonald’s chicken nuggets and fries. The final video focuses on McDonalds’ burgers and gives a bit more information about the ingredients they use to make them. McDonalds would love to hear your feedback on the video.

McDonald’s say "We’ve launched our Good To Know campaign to provide our customers with more information on the quality of the ingredients we use in our products. Despite some common misconceptions, our Chicken McNuggets are made with 100% chicken breast meat, fries are made from real, whole British spuds and 100% beef from whole cuts of forequarter and flank goes into a McDonald’s burger. Alongside the Good To Know website, we’re launching the three new videos you’ll see in Mumsnet threads over the next few weeks, and we’re really interested to hear your thoughts"

Please watch the 40 second video below:

After watching the video please let us know:

  • What did you think of the overall message in the video?
  • Did it change your perceptions of McDonalds’ Burgers at all? If so, how?
  • If you're not a current McDonald's visitor, having watched the video, do you think you'd now consider visiting McDonald's or visiting with your children?
  • Would you be interested in visiting the McDonald’s Good To Know website to find out more information?
Whatever your thoughts, McDonald’s would love to hear about them. Everyone who adds a comment will be entered in to a prize draw, where one winner will receive a £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks & good luck,

MNHQ

The overall message of the video was pretty positive.

It didn't change my perception of McDonalds burgers at all. I think anything is ok really in moderation so I wouldn't go every day but the occasional visit is fine.

I'm already a McDonalds visitor with my kids. I'd never go on my own

I'd maybe have a look at the website.

It's good to know that they are sharing what goes into their product. It's not the greatest of foodstuffs, and definitely a treat for the DDs. We go every now and again and I know what is good to choose and what is not so good and to be completely avoided!

What did you think of the overall message in the video?
I think it could have done without the hairdresser bit but overall it is a message that McDonald's should get out there. Some people don't believe it is 100% beef.

  • Did it change your perceptions of McDonalds’ Burgers at all? If so, how?
Not really
  • If you're not a current McDonald's visitor, having watched the video, do you think you'd now consider visiting McDonald's or visiting with your children?
I don't think it will change much for us, we mainly visit on long journeys/ every 6 months
  • Would you be interested in visiting the McDonald’s Good To Know website to find out more information?
Whatever your thoughts, McDonald’s would love to hear about them. Not really...

bit patronising, i already knew the burgers were all beef. can't help thinking that whilst burgers are technically 100pc beef that it isn't healthy good quality food.

i don't go and will continue to avoid.

SheldonsSpotOnTheCouch · 28/01/2016 23:16

The overall message is clear and positive.
It hasn't really changed my perceptions. I'd like more info regarding the welfare of the animals before they become burgers.
I already take my children on occasions.
I would probably visit the website to find out more

  • What did you think of the overall message in the video?
Well, it's obvious beef comes from cows... so not sure what else I was supposed to take away from it (other than that clearly wasn't a geniune cow drawing by a 9 year old!)
  • Did it change your perceptions of McDonalds’ Burgers at all? If so, how?
No, because the finished product still looked flat and leathery.
  • If you're not a current McDonald's visitor, having watched the video, do you think you'd now consider visiting McDonald's or visiting with your children?
No, because the meat in the burger doesn't bear any resemblance to what I expect burgers made with "proper" mince to look like.
  • Would you be interested in visiting the McDonald’s Good To Know website to find out more information?
No, but I guess it is good that McDonalds are trying to improve their animal welfare standards considering they are so popular.

I only eat halal food so doesn't make any difference to me.

CheeseAtFourpence · 04/02/2016 20:57

The video didn't alter my view of McDonalds - I knew the burgers were made from 100% beef.

I did find the content a bit patronising though!

We do go to McDonalds occasionally as a treat - probably once every month or so - the video doesn't make me more or less likely to do that.

CheeseAtFourpence · 04/02/2016 20:58

Oh and I wouldn't be likely to visit the website - it's just not something I'm massively interested in finding out more about!
