In honour of Cadbury launching their biggest ever advent calendar, Cadbury would like to know what gets you and your family into the Christmas spirit in the countdown to Christmas.

Here's what they say "This year we’re launching Cadbury’s biggest ever advent calendar and setting out to bring even more joy to the countdown this Christmas. 24 trucks, 24 doors, opening daily in 24 different locations, we’reringing joyful festive surprises to the nation on the countdown to Christmas. While we’re counting down, we’re also keen to hear from Mumsnetters about what you and your families do in the countdown before Christmas"

Find out about the Cadbury advent calendar by watching the video below:

So, what traditions do you and your family have to get that Christmas feeling? Do you spend an evening putting up a Christmas tree? Maybe decorating Christmas cookies is your favourite family activity? Or perhaps you all gather around the TV to watch a particular Christmas movie?

Whatever your pre-Christmas traditions are, Cadbury would love to know.

Everyone who posts a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one lucky MNer will win a £200 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

The Christmas songs have started already (as has some of the decorating thanks to a very excited 5 year old who couldn't wait any longer!). We visit our local Christmas markets and watch christmas films at our local village cinema to get in the mood! :)

Themilseys · 30/11/2015 22:32

On the Sunday evenings leading up to Christmas from the end of November we watch a Christmas film together and on Christmas Eve we go to the cinema together where there's usually a Christmas film showing.

katieskatie82 · 30/11/2015 22:52

we put our decorations up the 1st December and then we watch xmas movies every weekend until christmas to get us in the mood!

ohnoo · 30/11/2015 23:10

spending the evening puting the christmas tress and decorations up, and each having our first christmas chocolate from the tree

kelandab · 30/11/2015 23:17

We have a few little traditions but the one that makes us feel the most Christmassy is our annual trip to the local garden centre where the kids each pick out a new decoration for the tree, we take them home, dress the tree & then watch Elf!

robyn297 · 30/11/2015 23:31

Lots of Christmas baking and Christmas crafting.

brightongirl40 · 01/12/2015 01:09

We have the same Christmas music CD that we have had since we got married 20 years ago. We listen to that in the car and all sing along really loud.

12LuDo · 01/12/2015 01:52

We try to squeeze in as many Christmas films as possible over Christmas, our favourite is probably Elf! We love to decorate the tree together. The youngest does the bottom layers and the oldest does the middle layers and I do the top!

piggypoo · 01/12/2015 08:08

We have an expedition to the loft to find the decorations, and whoever finds them, gets to pick the first chocolate of the tree when it is decorated, and we all help to "feed" the home made Christmas cake with brandy! :)

HALA · 01/12/2015 09:00

putting up our Christmas tree, making christmas cards, and baking some gingerbread men.

maria08k · 01/12/2015 11:22

We go shopping for two new christmas tree decorations every year. we choose one and Ronan chooses another x

missytilley · 01/12/2015 12:38

Open up our chocolate advents everyday (adults included) Place musical light up village on top of its shelf. Put up tree with lights, tinsel and even more chocolates. Wrap up just a few pressies for under tree And a smile we will go......

glmcall123 · 01/12/2015 12:47

We always go for a long walk on Christmas Eve to help the younger ones get to sleep early - This never works! We still go every year though.

hpsauce84 · 01/12/2015 13:24

I never used to be bothered about Christmas until I had my daughter. Now the countdown begins on 1st December when we have a little elf arrive bringing an advent calendar. We also put up the Christmas tree on the first Saturday in December, go and visit the main man himself and make various baked goods for family members Christmas presents!

meggysar · 01/12/2015 13:25

We always try and co-ordinate decorating the house with a visit to Santa.

ThomasRichard · 01/12/2015 14:27

The DC always participate in the nativity play at church, which can be both cute and hilarious as the toddlers put their own spin their roles.

We usually do an overnight UK trip one weekend in December to see Father Christmas. Thomas Land and Peppa Pig World have been hits in previous years.

VickyRsuperstar · 01/12/2015 15:55

We put the decorations up on the outside tree on Dec 1st. The kids do it so I never know quite what the front garden will look like. They tend to go a bit mad tying tinsel on everything like the fence, gate and other plants and it can look a bit crazy! We also try to do a fun winter activity like going ice skating on an outdoor ice rink.

nazrana82 · 01/12/2015 18:45

my kids insist on leaving milk cookies and carrots out every year without fail! and the carrots are not for rudolph but for Santa! because i tell them to eat carrots they'll be able to see in the dark so now they want to make sure Santa finds his way in the dark by eating the carrots! hehe :)

ssd · 01/12/2015 19:06

we always put the Christmas cd in the car on the first of December, sets the tone well!

hannahlw85 · 01/12/2015 21:43

We love spending time putting the tree and other decs up with Christmas music on, and mid-December there's carols sung on the village green by torch or candle light which is always lovely to go to to get into the spirit of things.

manfalou · 01/12/2015 22:38

We always make a festive cake the last weekend in December (NOT a proper fruit christmas cake) Then we put up the tree and eat the cake! Its bliss

jamielmdjs · 02/12/2015 00:17

first time seeing selection boxes in shops, we buy one. That's the start of our Christmas journey every year.

ZaneMumsnet · 02/12/2015 10:20

Hi does anybody know where to find a list if locations the Cadbury Advent Truck is please? I've looked everywhere but looks like they're keeping it a secret! Nice idea but would be good to plan Wink

Nottheshrinkingcapgrandpa · 09/12/2015 19:23

The Snowman, new pjs and hot chocolate before bed on Christmas Eve always goes down a treat 😃
