Watching Christmas movie and put up the tree

Wilhamenawonka · 29/11/2015 06:44

We do elf on the shelf which makes us laugh every day and watch all our Christmas dvds over December

lucieloos · 29/11/2015 08:13

We spray the bottoms of our feet with fake snow and walk from the chimney to the coffee table in the living room where the snacks await Santa and co.

Doodygirl2009 · 29/11/2015 12:06

We have a big clean the last day of November, then we put our tree up on the 1st, we then bake Xmas themed things during the day

lotti40 · 29/11/2015 13:59

On Christmas Eve, just before bedtime, we light lots of candles, turn off the lights and I read The Night Before Christmas aloud, then the dses read a couple of the Nine Lessons, and we sing a carol.

We started this as a way to provide a few moments of peace and calm before the dses went to bed, in the usually vain hope that they'd settle quickly!

We still do this, even though the boys are 18, 20 and 22.

The day after school finishes we go to our local Christmas tree farm and select our tree and then watch it being cut and bagged up.

We then have the ceremonial "raising of the tree" in it's bucket.

Christmas eve, going shopping for donations to the food bank to help people less fortunate than ourselves....

MerryMarigold · 29/11/2015 16:50

We go on a torch lit walk through our local neighbourhood looking at all the pretty Christmas lights. It's very festive and kids love it, a bit like Halloween without the scary costume and sugar rush.

SonicEllie · 29/11/2015 17:36

We drive around the town to see all the houses decorated for Christmas - the kids love seeing them (and so do I).

Kangakate · 29/11/2015 17:57

We have a Christmas shopping day with my sister and her kids, they also go through the argos catalogue and make a collage of the things they want for christamas

hdh747 · 29/11/2015 17:57

We have a trim up and bake day when we decorate the house and make mince pies and listen to Christmas Carols. We also have a cake baking day in October when we play Christmas songs and sip Sherry whilst making the cake - I'm sure the neighbours must think we're odd lol.

Mouseface · 29/11/2015 18:09

We hang our cards on string along the staircase and have our festive salt lights lit surrounding the log burner.

We all help to decorate the tree, with traditional Christmas songs playing in the background, gingerbread baking in the oven and mulled wine simmering on the hob....

On Christmas Eve, my DH will go out and get his work boots, and stand in some soot, I'll sprinkle some glitter all by the log burner so it looks like Santa has been. DH takes a bite out of a mince pie, half a carrot is left and half a glass of milk too.....

The presents are left all around the lounge and we toast the morning when we wake (the adults!) with some fizz and photo's.

We've had a rather sad few weeks of late, so this year we are REALLY going to get our Christmas on!! :)

imustbemadme · 29/11/2015 19:28

We go sing carols in the high street on Christmas Eve and wait for Santa to arrive in his sleigh!

marshgirl · 29/11/2015 20:00

I give my house a Christmas clean on the lead up to December. That way it leaves December free to enjoy Christmas festivities. The tree goes up in the 1st week of December. My daughter always puts the star or fairy on top of the tree. We have to watch as many Christmas films as possible on the lead up. On Christmas eve I like a clean and tidy house and the last job is to put the sweets out , that way i know we are ready for Christmas.

castleton · 29/11/2015 20:23

From December 1st we watch Christmas movies. There are a lot of them

selloveday · 29/11/2015 21:24

We love setting up all the Christmas lights outside and then setting everything up indoors.

StandUnderMyUmbrella · 29/11/2015 21:44

We put on our christmas jumpers as often as possible, crack on the christmas cd as loudly as possible and eat and drink and be bloomin merry all damn day! xx

AngelDog · 29/11/2015 22:35

Buy more flashing lights and spread them around as much of the house as possible

Princessxo · 29/11/2015 22:43

We have a baking competition, christmas related. I buy all the bits and pieces and DH and DS are on one team and I'm on the other. It always ends up as a bit of a food fight, but is mega fun.

Lydia30 · 30/11/2015 00:26

Trying to watch a Christmas film from the 1st to the 24th of December. We ad to them every year and we've now got more than enough

lorka · 30/11/2015 00:36

I make up a Christmas eve present every year with new jammies, a book, a hot chocolate and a new toothbrush in it. My two love opening something early and wearing their new jammies to bed. Let the magic begin!! [santa]

coversnail · 30/11/2015 09:47

Going to the Christmas tree farm in December to pick our tree, then coming back the weekend before Christmas and cutting it down ourselves!

goose1964 · 30/11/2015 10:24

my daughter and myself go to Cardiff christmas shopping leaving the boys behind & they all go to our local rugby club to watch a match.

mpsandy · 30/11/2015 10:27

I always fill a pocket Advent calendar every year with wrapped surprises. It has little toys, or chocolates etc and if the parcel is too big then my son has a clue to go on a treasure hunt and find where it is hidden. He loves doing this and it doesn't cost a lot as I look out for little bargains throughout the year then put them in a shoe box ready. It's a great start to the Christmas period and adds to the excitement.

topgunmatt · 30/11/2015 11:37

Making decorations such as paper chains and things to put on the tree, wrapping presents for friends. Making test batches of mince pies just to be sure.
