Cadbury Milk Tray are keen to hear from Mumsnetters about the most thoughtful gesture you’ve ever received from a partner.

Cadbury say “The Milk Tray man is back! He’s a caring and daring type, thoughtful yet thrill-seeking, and as ever he’ll go to any lengths to deliver a box of Milk Tray to that special lady. So we’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about the lengths someone has gone to deliver a thoughtful gesture for them.”

Has your partner ever gone the extra mile to make you feel special? Have they surprised you with an out of character romantic gesture or gone above and beyond when it came to thinking of a treat or birthday present for you? Maybe they whipped up a special dinner with all your favourite dishes after you'd had a hard day at work? Perhaps they came along with you to see your favourite band, even though they’re not so keen? Perhaps they’ve done something that to an outsider wouldn’t seem like a big deal, but meant the world to you.

Whatever the gesture, Cadbury would love to hear about it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £200 Love2Shop voucher to spend on a treat for someone special.

I have to say DP is very thoughtful, he buys flowers, leave little cards for me to find, buts chocolate when he can sense from my tone that I need it etc. His continual kindness is very much appreciated and to me is so much better than any grand gestures!!

my fiancé knew I've been under a lot of stress with planning our wedding as it's in a different country and we have been saving so hard our social life has been reduced to zero. He went and bought a pair of tickets to see black swan in the theatre so we can have a lovely relaxing evening together. I've been wanting to go to the ballet since I was a kid, when he gave me the tickets I started crying!!

I'm a vegan and a colleague once went out of his way to source a vegan lunch for me while I was on a training course. Reader, I married him (well we live together).

After a traumatic birth, my DH changed every single nappy for 2 weeks so I could concentrate on feeding. He still takes her off for her first change of the day so I can have a break after broken nights. Then he makes us tea and toast in bed before we start the day.

That he always makes a cup of tea exactly when I need one is the biggest gesture to me!

My Mum passed away back in May this year. I don't drive so had to get the train for a 2 and a half hour journey to see her in hospital and back down again 2 days later with my daughter. It was a very emotional and tiring times. My best friend was waiting for me at the train station when I got back. Spaghetti Carbonara, garlic doughballs, milk, bread, tea bags, bot of wine, cheese and chocolate and coke for my daughter. Bestmate in the world

on our 5th wedding anniversary he took me and our two young children to the hotel where we got married. It was a lovely gesture. Our 10th anniversary is next year- will he do the same again?!

My very lovely dp....who had been (unknowingly by me) watching over me and helping my son embark on his career before I even began dating him,we met quite by chance and I was as broken at that point as I've ever been I'd had a breakdown caused by a lifetime of abuse and I was facing a court for a very serious allegation ......he began to help me rebuild my life, encouraging me to face my fears and this last year has made me stronger and at the age of 41 experience so many different firsts,I dance,I go to the theatre,we go to balls ...I've been abroad!,I can walk into a room full of strangers and mingle,I'm finally becoming who I should have been .....its very woo but he's hugged me so hard all my broken bits are coming together ....he's held me when nightmares wake me,he's come to appointments I simply couldn't face alone,he's kicked my arose when I've felt low and made me face my day.
I'm eternally thankful we met and if it all ended tomorrow it simply is the best thing that's ever happened to me x

When my father was having palliative care my friends took it in turns to cook meals and do the school runs for me which helped massively and took some of the burden off, I'm lucky to have such treasured friends who we all help out.

My neighbour had cleaned and de-iced my car at 8am one freezing cold morning knowing I had to take the children to school. So kind of him

honeyb11 · 25/10/2015 15:56

On my 30th birthday my fiance bought my 30 presents (mostly little things with a couple of big ones) and then hid them around the house as a treasure hunt, leaving clues to help me find them. It was very sweet, thoughtful and romantic.

lhlee62 · 25/10/2015 16:50

Today it would be my eldest getting herself a biscuit and getting one for me and her little sister

Lauzipop1 · 25/10/2015 16:52

I remember when I was about 22 and had a part time job in a shop. We had two wee regular customers who obviously didn't have very much money. They had a few items put aside and would pay a few pound whenever they could afford it, anyway two days before Valentine's Day the husband came in to pay off some money. He had 12 plastic roses for his wife but he said because he appreciated the fact that we had held items over for him he gave us all a rose each. It really touched me and the time and more so a few months later when we realised he hadn't been in for a while. His wife came in to tell us that he had died of brain cancer just 2 weeks before. Such a lovely man and such a lovely gesture.

JoJoBaldwin · 25/10/2015 17:46

For my 40th birthday DH wrote a list of 40 obscure facts about me, all relating to the past 20 years he'd known me. It was so thoughtful, and funny, and promoted so many memories. Best birthday present I've ever had!

peronel · 25/10/2015 17:53

Taking over without a fuss when I was in hospital; collecting kids from school, making meals and generally being reliable so I didn't have to worry. That meant a lot.Star

my son coming home with a Turkish delight for me out of his pocket money, :)

Homesickaussie · 25/10/2015 19:00

DH was very tired after a long week of work and went to bed early to watch tv. I had gone out with my girlfriends for dinner and drinks that went on way longer than planned. He insisted that he come to pick me up rather than let me catch public transport home as it was pouring with rain and he noticed I had left my umbrella at home.

When I Was unexpectantly taken into hospital a few years ago in December, my friend did all of my Christmas shopping.
