Cadbury Milk Tray are keen to hear from Mumsnetters about the most thoughtful gesture you’ve ever received from a partner.

Cadbury say “The Milk Tray man is back! He’s a caring and daring type, thoughtful yet thrill-seeking, and as ever he’ll go to any lengths to deliver a box of Milk Tray to that special lady. So we’d love to hear from Mumsnetters about the lengths someone has gone to deliver a thoughtful gesture for them.”

Has your partner ever gone the extra mile to make you feel special? Have they surprised you with an out of character romantic gesture or gone above and beyond when it came to thinking of a treat or birthday present for you? Maybe they whipped up a special dinner with all your favourite dishes after you'd had a hard day at work? Perhaps they came along with you to see your favourite band, even though they’re not so keen? Perhaps they’ve done something that to an outsider wouldn’t seem like a big deal, but meant the world to you.

Whatever the gesture, Cadbury would love to hear about it!

I am lucky, DH is always thoughtful with lots of little gestures

mapmyface · 24/10/2015 18:59

My mum has been amazing, not just one gesture that stands out but lots.
When we've been struggling she's paid money Ito our account to make sure the mortgage is covered.
When I'm exhausted from working twice my normal night shifts, she'll sleep over and watch the kids and then look after them the day after so I can have a good sleep.
If she knows my dh is working and I have the kids all day she'll pop in and take them out for a couple of hours. She really is a treasure and I would love to be able to treat her

I have an elderly friend who is nearly 90 though you wouldn't know it. She once bought me round a present after i had a big operation. When i opened it is was Nivea cream for dry skin she said as she knew i would be recovering indoors for a while and because i would be having the heating on a lot she didnt want my skin to dry out. i just thought that was lovely.

My hubby is good with gestures, an extra hour in bed while he gets up with the kids, flowers at unexpected times, arranging a babysitter for a meal out without me knowing, etc

My sister accidentally fell pregnant when I had been trying for a baby for a year and had already had my first miscarriage. After an incredibly selfish evening of me crying and raging, she sent me a little parcel of magazine, chocolates and mini g&t and a hand painted picture of a cheerleader with the caption ' mountain is f*ing awesome' . apparently everyone needs a cheerleader sometimes :)

a surprise boquet of flowers

Coming home from work one day feeling really ill, I walked in to find all the children and my husband doing the chores - cooking tea, hoovering, getting the washing off the line etc. It was so nice to be able to go and put my feet up knowing that they all pulled together to help me out while I was feeling so ill.

rennie1811 · 24/10/2015 20:09

My other half made me a video of my daughters first year, It was lovely to sit back and watch it all happen again :)

Mine has to be an mp3 player! Before me and my partner had the children, I was commuting from Cheshire to Glasgow a couple of times per week, so to.save me getting bored, he bought me a fab mp3 player and loaded over 1000 songs on to it!... 8 years on and I still listen to it :) xxx

Years ago my (then) partner sold his precious guitar to pay my rent - he loved that guitar, so I thought he must love me more.

I was proved wrong not long after that as I found out he was cheating, so it was guilt and not love at all. Confused

For our first Valentine's Day as a married couple my dh picked me up from work as a surprise. When we got home he asked me to wait in the hallway for a moment and a few seconds later handed me a glass of wine and our first dance song started playing. When I came into the house he had decorated everywhere with roses and rose petals and then he proceeded to cook me a three course meal.

It was our 10th Valentines Day overall and he had never ever done anything like that before (or since). He is very unromantic in general so this completely took me by surprise. It was lovely. If only I could get him to do it again. We have been married 4 years now (and have 2 kids). The most romantic thing he does these days is order a takeaway if I can't be bothered to cook!

Sparklezz · 24/10/2015 21:04

The most romantic thing i have had happen to me was i was emailing a guy from america as it was long distance and he wanted to buy me dinner he ordered food from my favourite restaurant online and had it delivered to me with a note. It read, "just because i am not there doesnt mean i cant buy you dinner." It was a lovely surprise from a man i hadnt actually met yet!

When i was struggling with dc1, one of my friends came around, blitzed the house and left a weeks worth of m&s ready meals in the fridge :)

DH booked a wonderful surprise weekend for my birthday when DC was almost a year old. He even secretly contacted my DM to ask her to look after the baby. He had booked a lovely hotel, restaurant etc.

Usually I book all our holidays etc so I was impressed that he did such a good job and that he kept it all a surprise.

joroberts79 · 24/10/2015 21:45

A lie in on my birthday - worth a thousand presents!

Anderson8 · 24/10/2015 21:54

cozza777 · 24/10/2015 22:01

When I worked at a store I was given some chocolates by a customer for securing a xmas gift for her son in a job that is normally pretty thankless I thought that was pretty sweet :)

Kem99 · 24/10/2015 22:08

My DH often says that I'm more beautiful than the day he fell in love with me -even though I know that I'm not. It still makes me feel really good though!

tiddles12 · 24/10/2015 22:13

selloveday · 24/10/2015 22:17

My partner brought me the car of my dreams after I nursed him back to health after an operation

windowmouse · 24/10/2015 22:25

When I had a cold my boyfriend bought me tissues, grapes and chocolates and then disposed of a mouse the cats caught! True love!

pfcpompeysarah · 24/10/2015 22:27

My son is very thoughtful for an 8 year old, if I am worried about something he gives me lots of cuddles, upset about something he will get me a tissue, and when I am ill he makes sure I have his favourite blanket.

compy99 · 24/10/2015 22:28

my wonderful late Father-in-Law getting 2 buses to meet me at 6am to take my laundry to the launderette, get it washed and dried and taken back to my home when I had to work, we couldn't afford a washing machine and life was hectic, He did this every Monday for well over a year. He did so many things like this, he was a very special man.
