Thirty-five years since his first appearance, the Milk Tray Man is back and is being re-imagined for the 21st century. Cadbury are keen to hear from Mumsnetters about who they think best represents the modern Milk Tray Man (or woman!).

Cadbury say “The Milk Tray man is back and he’ll be daring but caring, thoughtful yet thrill-seeking - and he’ll go to any lengths to deliver a box of Milk Tray to a loved one.”

What traits do you think the modern Milk Tray Man or woman should have, and who do you think best embodies these qualities? Your favourite actor, dressed to thrill in a smart black polo neck and grappling hooks Grin. Your best friend, who’s helped you through some tough times? Maybe your partner has all the key qualities?

Whomever you think represents the modern Milk Tray Man, Cadbury would love to hear about it.

Everyone who adds a comment will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £200 Experience Day Gift Card for you and your loved one(s).*

Find out more about the search for the new Milk Tray man here :

You can make your own nomination over here and don't forget to tell us on this thread too.

Thanks

daring but caring - find a medical/aid volunteer - male or female - who has taken time out from their job to volunteer in the refugee camps for Syrians in desperate need. There are 1000s of real-life heroes to choose from, no need to find a fictional one.

My DH would make a perfect milk tray man. I once picked him up from work and took him down to an airfield and told him I'd booked him a parachute jump when we arrived there! He took it in his stride and is always there with some Cadburys chocolate when the need arises!

kijala1976 · 26/10/2015 19:06

James Corden as humour is one of the best traits a man (or woman) can have!

emmfurn · 26/10/2015 20:20

Ha ha, the modern Milk Tray Man would have no facility to be distracted by his mobile phone, tablet or PC so would probably have to have his hands tied behind his back - with a box of Milk Tray in his mouth ;)

sealight123 · 26/10/2015 21:19

Just a standard working bloke, who has time for the family and likes to have a good laugh :) Like my bloke :)

FeelingSmurfy · 26/10/2015 22:20

I think it should be a woman because times have moved on

buckley1983 · 26/10/2015 22:48

I remember this ad from when I was a young 'un! Yeah it's outdated.. but a comedy spin might jazz it up - how about David Walliams or David Mitchell? I'd love to see Miranda if we're going for a Milk Tray woman!

Julieguy · 26/10/2015 22:52

Daniel Craig would look good as the next Milk Tray man.

Annimousey · 27/10/2015 00:14

Chris Hemsworth! He's such a family man and a doting daddy too. :)

TigerFeat · 27/10/2015 07:20

I think the ad should show the original Milk Tray man as he is now and all that's happened since the last ad.

Maybe Milk Tray man and woman did get together and have spent the last 35 years (is it really that long?!) travelling the world having wild adventures. They were too wrapped up in each other/ their amazing life/ Milk Tray to settle down and have kids and have long gone NC with their extended family who have just not understood the obsessive creeping in and out of windows/chocolate eating/polo-neck-wearing-ness of their lives.

However, now they are old, worn out and slightly overweight. Milk Tray woman has poorly managed type 2 diabetes and early dementia. She lives in a Nursing Home which is desperately under-staffed and is unhappy. The Ad shows MTM parking his zimmer (arthritis of the hip) and stumbling in through MTW's window with the chocs to cheer her up only to be berated by Matron for setting off the alarms again.

It'd pull at the heartstrings that one.

Louis Smith

Remus's DD sounds great!

Or of not then second vote for danger mouse or even better - puss in boots voiced by Antonio banderas.

Hope they're rebooting the concept though. We're in a different age an men clambering through your window at night is creepy and we earn our own money so get buy our own chocs.

My dh heading out in the rain to the shops while I sit on the sofa make the packed lunch boxes would be good too

lucyhac · 27/10/2015 12:23

For me it has to remain the milk tray man - Im a bit old fashioned and like tradition. For who he should be - talk dark handsome its gotta be Usain Bolt. Im sure he would be up for the challenge :)

Wjjkl · 27/10/2015 16:24

I think creeping around people's roofs and climbing in windows is a bit sinister these days. How about a polite knock at the door? Much more civilised.

pixelwife · 27/10/2015 17:17

Channing Tatum would be my Milk Tray man. Strong, gorgeous with some good dance moves. Yes, he can bring me chocolates anytime!

pusinky · 27/10/2015 19:39

Not sure it's a bit outdated, if I have to pick someone I would go with Damien Lewis

LumpySpacedPrincess · 27/10/2015 21:08

Did someone actually say Jamid Dorman? Have they not seen The Fall!

The milk tray man is a creepy stalker, just stop.

Loulabellet78 · 28/10/2015 09:22

Let's modernise completely - go for someone kind, someone with a disability or someone really old, someone showing empathy... anything but some pretty Hollywood darling doing action stunts.

Turn the concept on its head and show someone for whom a trip to the shop is a real struggle, but they still go to the effort and bring home a box of Milk Tray for their loved one, or carer, or child...

JocelynWildensteinOnABroom · 28/10/2015 10:46

Idris Elba pretty please

MrsToddsShortcut · 28/10/2015 13:14

I feel all conflicted about this!

I personally really dislike all these tropes thrown at women about how all we want to do is eat chocolate while drinking wine, before reading 50 Shades and dreaming of becoming a Mumpreneur.

I like Gembie's idea of him turning up on the doorstep and the woman saying "No thanks love, I've brought my own" - brilliant.

Otherwise it really needs to be about families/society/relationships, but definitely not creepy man in black skulking about. Yuk!

sadiewoohoo · 28/10/2015 13:47

Rick from The Walking Dead. Whenever hes about you know youre going to be alright :)

Hurr1cane · 28/10/2015 14:28

Oh I'd have Jon Snow

Hurr1cane · 28/10/2015 14:29

Actually I love lulas idea

sillysammie · 28/10/2015 16:01

Keith Lemon. At least it would be funny!

roggy45 · 28/10/2015 16:22

Daniel Craig
