McCain has asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ favourite family teatime meal is.

Here’s what they say, “5th October sees the launch of the Nation’s Teatimes campaign by McCain, which sees the brand turn real families into teatime TV stars. McCain is asking real families from across the UK to share real life video clips of themselves enjoying their tea on their dedicated hub www.mccainteatime.co.uk. From Monday to Thursday, the family videos from across the country will be edited against the clock into a McCain ’Teatime Today' advert and aired on ITV later that same evening at 8.45pm during a teatime ad-break.”

Whether you eat tea around the table or tucked up on the sofa, from the hectic to the calm, to over in a flash, no matter what teatime is like in your house there is always good stuff happening and it's where some great family moments take place.

So, what’s your favourite family teatime meal? Maybe you love your family pizza evenings when everyone helps to add their own toppings? Do you have a great beef casserole that everyone enjoys? Or is just beans on toast that the family love?! Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

Our favourite meal is steak and ale pie and chips. Especially as it is getting colder!

saltedcaramelhotchoc · 12/10/2015 10:14

Our most popular family meal is roast chicken, pork or beef. Whichever meat it is, we have to have Yorkshire puddings; vegetables can vary, but always include roast potatoes, which are a universal crowd pleaser.

My children also like the picnic style family meal on a rug in the living room - which has to include crisps, along with pizza or sandwiches, bowls of grapes and berries, etc.

On rushed days we use the frozen shortcuts - frozen chips, fish fingers, etc - I refuse to buy chicken nuggets and usually make homemade chicken goujons or fish goujons, but frozen fish fingers are good.

Autumn months we love shepherds pie, carrots & broccoli. Kids seem to love their veg with home cooked pie.

LinnyBee · 12/10/2015 10:24

Shepherds Pie with peas and gravy... definite comfort food.

Has to be a traditional roast dinner - always a winner with everyone!

funkyfish586 · 12/10/2015 10:36

I just love making a good Sunday Roast with all the trimmings. Yesterday we had roast pork, roast potato's, stuffing, sprouts, carrots & Yorkshire puddings. I remember my childhood roast dinners fondly so I hope my children do too.

beeelaine · 12/10/2015 11:20

Lasagne, oven chips and peas with lots of garlic bread. There is never a scrap of it left at the end!

dorsetsgem · 12/10/2015 11:33

we have fajitas. i make quite a lot of extra to go in though, so arms all over the place, but they like that they can customise their wraps. often making faces or other pictures before wrapping

happysouls · 12/10/2015 11:47

Pasta is a firm favourite! Pesto pasta and broccoli if we don't have much time as its so quick to make. If we have longer we make a spicy tomato sauce with garlic and chilli, mushrooms, varied veg, and sometimes a bit of blue cheese melted on the top (for those that like it!)

StandUnderMyUmbrella · 12/10/2015 11:50

Spaghetti bolognese and dough balls is a firm family favourite in our house and guaranteed to have super clean plates when this is served!! xxx
