McCain has asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ favourite family teatime meal is.

Here’s what they say, “5th October sees the launch of the Nation’s Teatimes campaign by McCain, which sees the brand turn real families into teatime TV stars. McCain is asking real families from across the UK to share real life video clips of themselves enjoying their tea on their dedicated hub www.mccainteatime.co.uk. From Monday to Thursday, the family videos from across the country will be edited against the clock into a McCain ’Teatime Today' advert and aired on ITV later that same evening at 8.45pm during a teatime ad-break.”

Whether you eat tea around the table or tucked up on the sofa, from the hectic to the calm, to over in a flash, no matter what teatime is like in your house there is always good stuff happening and it's where some great family moments take place.

So, what’s your favourite family teatime meal? Maybe you love your family pizza evenings when everyone helps to add their own toppings? Do you have a great beef casserole that everyone enjoys? Or is just beans on toast that the family love?! Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

Veggie lasagne, chips and peas-with a bit of lettuce, tomato, cucumber & raw mild onion on the side...

without doubt Sunday roast dinner is the families favourite meal! All round the table on a Sunday evening with all the trimmings x

Pasta bake

tubbyj · 12/10/2015 09:00

Homemade pizza, a bit of fun getting things ready, then out of the oven after a few minutes, so no long wait for a bit of guilty pleasure.

pasta, dh's homemade sauce which is packed with veg the children and dh wouldn't normally eat (I would but I am at their mercy) with chunks of chorizo, if the chorizo has not been eaten by hovering dc beforehand. naturally, dc love chips. ds pretty much existed on pips (chips) once on hols when he was 18 months. we resorted to hiding them under restaurant tables and all sorts but he sniffed them out!

we all love a family roast - either beef, pork, chicken or lamb - it doesn't matter so long as it comes with the right accompaniments - yorkshire pudding, apple sauce etc . The it's roast potatoes and a couple of different veg which varies from week to week. The plates are always clean...no food wasted ....and very happy faces

spag bol

southernsun · 12/10/2015 09:09

Chilli con carne in the slow cooker. We all have it slightly different though. Mummy has no Kidney Beans, DS1 has extra kidney beans, DS2 likes extra rice and daddy likes to add some jalepenos and cheese.

Tuna pasta bake always goes down well in our house

walk1992 · 12/10/2015 09:13

My kids love fishfingers.

bubbleybooboo · 12/10/2015 09:18

Our family favourite is a indoor picnic. Hot and cold things such as sandwiches home made pizza and chips and then cucumber and carrot sticks and dips. The little ones love having it all infront of them and grabbing what they fancy.

We do try and eat together when possible but with 3 girls with various clubs, homework etc and a husband in the forces who sometimes works very unsociable times not to mention when he is away its sometimes tricky to all come together as a family!

However the one meal we do make a special effort to eat together as a family is the Sunday roast, we make a very big deal of it, background music, far too much food, a nice bottle of something red (for me and hubby!) and time to enjoy it and each other's company!

tiddles12 · 12/10/2015 09:30

Spaghetti bolognese is our family favourite

easter1965 · 12/10/2015 09:31

Home-made cottage pie and mushy peas. Husband takes a little to work next day as I do a huge pie dish full and he warms it in the micro in the work hut and starts everyone Ahhhhh bisto-ing lol

pixies13 · 12/10/2015 09:45

roast chicken dinner, with mash potato, cabbage, carrot, yorkshire puds, peas and gravy

scatymaty · 12/10/2015 09:47

I can whip up a sausage casserole with sweetcorn, potatoes, tomatoes, onions, etc in around 1 hour for my family.

Smythe13 · 12/10/2015 10:00

Burritos!

Cambam2010 · 12/10/2015 10:01

Our favourite dish is Jambalaya - It has something for everyone and is relatively cheap to throw together. My son particularly likes spicy food so added chorizo and other sausages pleases him and rice is a great filler.

Keletubbie · 12/10/2015 10:07

Fajitas. We eat them with such regularity that I am beginning to despise them. Still, a warm tortilla wrap will convince the kids to eat almost anything.

seeingdouble2 · 12/10/2015 10:08

our's is home made stew with loads of dumplings!
