McCain has asked us to find out what Mumsnetters’ favourite family teatime meal is.

Here’s what they say, “5th October sees the launch of the Nation’s Teatimes campaign by McCain, which sees the brand turn real families into teatime TV stars. McCain is asking real families from across the UK to share real life video clips of themselves enjoying their tea on their dedicated hub www.mccainteatime.co.uk. From Monday to Thursday, the family videos from across the country will be edited against the clock into a McCain ’Teatime Today' advert and aired on ITV later that same evening at 8.45pm during a teatime ad-break.”

Whether you eat tea around the table or tucked up on the sofa, from the hectic to the calm, to over in a flash, no matter what teatime is like in your house there is always good stuff happening and it's where some great family moments take place.

So, what’s your favourite family teatime meal? Maybe you love your family pizza evenings when everyone helps to add their own toppings? Do you have a great beef casserole that everyone enjoys? Or is just beans on toast that the family love?! Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a £300 Love2Shop voucher!

Thanks

spaghetti Bolognese

Now the colder weather is here - we love a beef stew, cooked slowly for hours until the meat is beautifully tender with lots of lovely fresh veggies. Absolutely HAVE to have some dumplings in there too & serve with roast potatoes - yum! A fab dish for a big family meal - stick the pot in the middle of the table & all tuck in!

Our favourite has got to be cottage pie with baked beans, lovely! Otherwise, pizza in front of the tv on a Saturday night.

It's called Italian Baked eggs. We make our own marinara sauce and have that as a base inside several Ramekin dishes, then just top each Ramekin with a couple eggs, different cheeses, low fat milk, herbs and black pepper/salt to taste and cook for 10-15 minutes. This is more of our guilty pleasure, we eat very cleanly and healthy the rest of the time but this is slightly not so healthy so we treat ourselves with this :) Simple but so yummy! We absolutely love eggs in this household and go through them in no time at all, so our favourite meal just had to include them!

We love having Mexican meals as I can easily turn leftovers into Quesadillas or burritos

Herebemonsters · 13/10/2015 03:44

Spaghetti bolognese!!! Lots of meals we enjoy but this would probably be the favourite across the board with us all. At the table with garlic bread :) Smile

Spaguetti with pesto - comfort food and quick to make.

Chilli con-carne. Everyone fills their own wraps with chilli, rice, avocado and sour cream. Everybody eats. Nobody complains. Mostly, everybody has seconds. Happy mum.

My family loves cooking and eating! We don't really have one favourite meal as we all go crazy for Chicken Madras, Beef Stew, Chicken Pasta Bake, Pizza, etc. My 4-year-old son LOVES to help us cook and impresses us more and more every day. Family mealtimes are more magical when the dinne was prepared by the whole family.

Roast chicken

Marty673 · 13/10/2015 10:39

The kids love chicken nuggets and chips with a mountain of ketchup. Mrs H and I prefer a good curry Smile

Titsalinabumsquash · 13/10/2015 10:50

My family like anything that's dressed up as 'create your own' so weather that's a dish of crispy skinned jacket potatoes with bowls of cheese, beans, tuna mayo and a big salad on the side.

Or a big pan of mixed bean and beef chilli, nachos, guacamole, salsa, rice and again a big salad.

It makes a regular meal an exciting event for the kids and they dive In whilst chatting and enjoying it.

angiesandhu1 · 13/10/2015 11:03

love making pizza. It was a Jamie Oliver recipe of making it with self raising flour on a frying pan and under the grill. My family love it and it is so quick!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/10/2015 11:24

There are a few - we all love a good roast, with all the trimmings.

One particular favourite is wraps - tortillas, sour cream, grated cheese, guacamole, char grilled chicken cut into strips, and peppers and red onions cut up and stir fried until soft and caramelised around the edges.

Everyone gets to make their own wraps, and the children, in particular, used to enjoy having that control over what they ate.

sammylea80 · 13/10/2015 11:27

It has to be a nice chilli with garlic bread :)
