The team at Bassetts Vitamins are celebrating the re-launch of their range of vitamins for little ones, bigger ones and sort of in-betweeny ones and would love to hear the things your children have said that were beyond their years which made you smile.

They say "our products are delicious, fruity and tailored to every stage to support families every day, because we believe that every moment of family life counts".

So please share on this thread the nuggets your child has piped up with - the kind of thing you'd expect from a grown-up rather than a small child. If they said them at a particularly inopportune moment, all the better!

Add your comment to the thread and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for John Lewis.

Thanks and good luck

My ds who is 6 and in year 2 said that he couldn't visit his grandparents this weekend as he needed some 'down time' as he was mentally exhausted from all the work in year two. Apparently dh and I didn't understand how hard it was and how much work they had to do and even 'golden time' (where they get to play with the toys) was restricted. God help him next year when he goes into the junior school !

I recall my daughter aged nearly 5 telling my son aged 8, who was being particularly grumpy and snapping at me 'Be nice you only have one Mummy' so cute x

Clawdy · 22/09/2015 20:54

When ds was three he said thoughtfully "I'm really impressive, aren't I,Mummy?" as he handed me his empty plate.

hunhun007 · 22/09/2015 22:18

"I see coffee didn't work this morning"
Apparently my morning hair were not up to taste of our 11 years old and not suitable for a school run

When my daughter was 4 she was diagnosed with leukaemia. Treatment was very harsh in the beginning, with muscle atrophy, steroid bloating and hair loss. One day, after she struggled to crawl up the stairs, she said to me 'when I was young this isn't how I thought my life would be'

From then 3,1/2 yr old DD when walking in the street & completely out of the blue...

"Daddy means well doesn't he mummy, but he does make your life extra hard"

Very astute indeed as DH was going through one of his interfering busy body phases

She had several people walking nearby choking with laughter

RockinHippy · 22/09/2015 23:18

4yoDD to me, when walking out of the supermarket & the automatic doors opened..

"Mummy, hoe do those doors open by themselves"

Me, - "oh there's a little invisible elf who opens them for customers"

DD fixing me with the withering death stare she has always been so good at "sigh you just think I am stupid don't you, I meant the electronics, how does that make the door work" Confused

Aspergers · 23/09/2015 07:20

montiefletcher · 23/09/2015 12:52

my daughter who was only 5 said to me one day in the car, Mum you look very tired do you want me to drive.

skyeskyeskye · 23/09/2015 17:24

My DD is extremely sarcastic gets it from me apparently

The other day she said, "Seriously Mummy, why are you telling me something that I already know? Don't you know that I know everything now?"

LizB62 · 24/09/2015 11:07

My son told me "It doesn't matter if you didn't mean to do it, you still did it" (I think I'd tripped over and accidentally knocked him when I fell!)

feeona123 · 24/09/2015 14:41

My little girl is only 17 months so doesn't really say anything, but she has said 'Hi ya' for quite a while! I love the innocence of her shouting 'hi ya' to everyone in the street!

angiehoggett · 24/09/2015 14:53

When I was a bit upset my daughter said nevermind mammy should we have a nice cuppa to sort it all out!

ahbollocks · 24/09/2015 17:50

'You did it daddy!' Totally un prompted when dh git offered his dream job today Grin

theshooglypeg · 25/09/2015 13:21

The other day I was out for lunch with my 2 year old daughter. (She was having chips, which are made of vegetables and therefore count as healthy ??). I asked if I could have a chip and she calmly asked "Would you like sauce on it mummy?" When I said yes, she carefully dipped it in her ketchup, handed it over and carried on eating. I was most impressed!

mynellie · 25/09/2015 13:52

money doesn't grow on trees you know mam

Maiyakat · 26/09/2015 20:55

DD (3) marches upstairs declaring 'leave me in peace!' She also organises her teddies into 'circle time', and they have to behave: 'You are not listening to me - you go and sit over there!'

xxgeexx · 26/09/2015 21:54

ooh you do make me laugh mummy aged 3! LOL X

Themilseys · 26/09/2015 22:08

When my daughter was about 3 and we were having a BBQ she told us that we'd better keep an eye on her and her younger sister "as you know how dangerous children and fire can be"....

JulesJules · 27/09/2015 07:40

'Mummy, you're a bit like a servant, aren't you, except you don't get paid'

So, so true Grin

rocketriffs · 27/09/2015 09:27

My 5 year old after a day out in town said, "You wait there, I'll get the car and pick you up!"

FUZZ62 · 27/09/2015 18:38

my DS 4- asked when watching gold rush with my husband if gold can be found with metal detectors, when my husband said yes they can he replied why dont they use a really good one to find the gold instead of digging where they wouldnt find it ... hubby didnt know what to say.

hutchina1986 · 27/09/2015 18:44

We were walking down the street with our 5 year old daughter and she was explaining to us that she was really strong now as she had been practicing her balancing, she then lifted both of her arms up to show us her muscles, kissed them both and said 'look at these babies'. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard, and I still don't know where she got it from lol

HelenPlant · 27/09/2015 19:58

When I was being silly during a doll's tea party, I was told to 'stop laughing and be sensible'.

kpnutts · 27/09/2015 19:59

Flight Captain: flight conditions are smooth with a good tailwind, so our expected arrival time in Bordeaux is 14:00hrs local time.
DS: FOURTEEN HUNDERED HOURS! Mummy, you said this was a short flight!
