The team at Bassetts Vitamins are celebrating the re-launch of their range of vitamins for little ones, bigger ones and sort of in-betweeny ones and would love to hear the things your children have said that were beyond their years which made you smile.

They say "our products are delicious, fruity and tailored to every stage to support families every day, because we believe that every moment of family life counts".

So please share on this thread the nuggets your child has piped up with - the kind of thing you'd expect from a grown-up rather than a small child. If they said them at a particularly inopportune moment, all the better!

Add your comment to the thread and you'll be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher for John Lewis.

Thanks and good luck

Marc was reading the road signs as we went to collect his elder sister from school. He was about two-and-a-half or younger maybe. Watching (and joining in with) Countdown seemed to help!

I was having a bit of a 'hair pulling out' day. I burnt myself on the oven whilst cooking the dinner, I began running my hand under the tap when my 7 year old said 'oh mummy, I can see you've had a hard day, come on sweetheart, let's have a sit down and you can tell me all about it.'

bubbleybooboo · 16/09/2015 10:27

I should always try my best. If I don't succeed, then at least I will feel good about myself.

this was my 9 year old son at the start of the new school year

My sister was showing off a bit about her healthy eating. She was saying her shopping is the same every week, vegetables, cous cous......

AND Vodka interrupted up my 6 year old son!!!

DD1 was looking out of the window in her new bedroom while we decorated it so DD2 could move in with DD1. DD1 was under 3.

I was taking a break and was chatting to DD1 about the sky and how at night the stars come out. 'There is a star we can see in the day mummy', 'oh really', 'yes the sun is a star mummy' withering look

DD1 at around 4y in a supermarket in the dodgy end of town 'oooh mummy, they have brioche' said with DD1 clasping her hands together

My son was a bit fed up that I was a working mum when he started school and told me he wished I could be at home. I asked him what I would do all day when he was at school and I was told 'you could prepare my swords ready for battle'. He was a very keen pirate.

Mine said "sit down Mother and I will explain it to you over a cup of tea"!

beckyinman · 16/09/2015 11:28

Mine said "All part of the service!" when helping me tidy up

happysouls · 16/09/2015 11:28

I love some of these other replies! Lovely!
The best one I can come up with was when I was driving with my then 4 year old son in the car and someone pulled out in front of me at a busy roundabout causing me to brake sharply and giving me quite a fright, but that was nothing compared to my son shouting that he was a "c*nt"! I nearly crashed hearing that! He definitely didn't learn that one from me! I wish I could come up with a cute and lovely one like everyone else, but motherhood isn't like that for me! haha!

My DD was watching football with me and when one of the players was play acting, rolling around on the floor after losing the ball, she said he should 'get up and rub some dirt on it!'...

feefeegabor · 16/09/2015 12:07

My friend dropped off my daughter after Brownies and my hubby went out to say thank you and have a quick chat. My daughter then came out and said "Daddy, are you and Katie going to do the sex now?"!!

gaynorouvrir · 16/09/2015 12:07

My 5 year old grandson said "Man up" after I held my arm after a minor fall.
This from the child who laid on the floor crying " I'm going to die - this is the end " after seeing blood coming from his chin after a nasty fall from his bike !!
I blame the parents ....

BodieBroadus · 16/09/2015 12:12

"Mummy I think you should get a job then you could make more friends" from my 6 year old (I have no idea why he thinks I need more friends!).

maryandbuzz1 · 16/09/2015 12:31

Oh we know, where dad will be, don't we mummy? Down the beer aisle. I can hear him coughing!

hiddenmichelle · 16/09/2015 12:44

My son told me yesterday that he was no longer on his top table for Maths and that there must have been a "grave misunderstanding" about his abilities! Hilarious!

7flipper7 · 16/09/2015 12:44

My parents eft their dogs with us the other day to go on holiday and Nanny was upset to leave them. My 8 year old son explained that "She is not just sad because she will miss them but because Rupert is old and he may die whilst she is away." Such a brave Statement but a very valid observation.

beeelaine · 16/09/2015 13:12

I cant remember exactly how old he was when he said it (maybe 7 or 8). We were in my old Nissan Micra driving through town and stopped at the lights. Our son said to me "Did you know you can see through your windscreen because glass is neither a liquid or a solid". Don't ask me where he learns all this, because its not from me (i have to add up on paper).

cadencealex · 16/09/2015 13:33

My 10 year old girl, finding her toddler sister 'difficult' at the best of times, piped up with... 'out of all the babies in the world you could have had mum, why did you have to have THAT one!!!?'

rainbowvalley · 16/09/2015 13:54

While watching me withdraw money from the cashpoint machine, my granddaughter said, "Can you get me one of those cards for my birthday please!"

lisylou21 · 16/09/2015 14:00

When DD1 was 3 ( about a year after it closed) she said to me "mummy, I really miss Woolworths"

devito92 · 16/09/2015 15:55

My son refused to play with another boy he met on holiday. He was German and said " I'm not playing with him anymore" I asked why " the battle of Britain" ... He spent sometime with his grandad before we went away. Tut Tut

devito92 · 16/09/2015 16:04

My son aged 9 said the Olympics are important but the Paralympics are more important

Dapootz · 16/09/2015 16:23

When my DD was six years old she informed me in a very serious voice "mummy when I leave home, I'm taking you with me"

myusername12345 · 16/09/2015 17:22

Asking why people love to watch the baby lambs but then eat them for dinner

ImmortalBeloved72 · 16/09/2015 17:38

My youngest son used to say "don't turn the dark on" at bedtime to ensure that I left the light on. When he trips he still says "I nearly fell off my feet". He did say that drinking wine is good for me because is made from grapes and therefore one of my five a day.
