We’ve been asked by the team at LEGO® to find out about our Mumsnetters’ favourite treats and rewards from their childhood.

What sort of treats and rewards did you get during your childhood? Maybe you were given a chocolate bar for good school work? Or perhaps you received small toys as a reward for good behaviour? If you were a child today, what would be your ideal treat or reward? Perhaps it didn’t even exist when you were a child?

Either way, whatever childhood treats and rewards you loved before or would love now, LEGO® would like to hear about them!

Please share your thoughts on this thread and be in with the chance to win a £300 Love2Shop Voucher. Every MNer who posts a comment will be entered into the prize draw where one MNer will win the £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Going to the library and getting as many children's books as you were allowed on one card, then sitting me down with a chocolate Nesquik so I could read them all one after the other :)

I can remember getting butterscotch flavour ice creams on a stick - I think they might have been called Hopscotch - they're what I remember as treats, as well as sherbet fountains :-)

Elizasmum02 · 02/08/2015 23:24

Ahh so many its hard to choose just one !I used to love helping my dad wash the car on weekends and as a treat we would get a bag of 20p sweets, 20p sweets were twenty sweets back then !!

sweetsomethings · 02/08/2015 23:32

I remember geting 20p to buy sweets from the Ice Cream van and i felt like a millionaire

taz10 · 02/08/2015 23:53

Our mum would save up all the 2p's and every now and again we would go to the arcade and play on the 1 arm bandits as a treat

Lindseymorris29 · 03/08/2015 00:00

Kinder eggs. My brother and I would get a three pack every weekly shop. And believe it or not a McDonald's or wimpy was once classed as treat.

wileyfox · 03/08/2015 00:00

pick and mix.. cola bottles, milk bottles and popping candy

deb1966 · 03/08/2015 00:40

A bag of sweets from a shop called the bonbon, it was a proper old sweetshop with jars and jars of sweets on shelves, my faves were pineapple chunks.

emilecomps · 03/08/2015 01:09

We used to get 50p to spend on whatever sweets we wanted in the shop, you could buy loads with that and picking what combinations to get was always the best bit.

ThreeSpike · 03/08/2015 01:31

Fuzzy Felts. Loved playing with those -making different pictures with the little pieces of provided materials and making up stories around them. My mum bought me a set sometimes as a treat.

TJCB68 · 03/08/2015 02:08

A new colouring book and a fresh set of crayons. My grown up sister used to buy them for me then spend the afternoon colouring with me.I can still smell the wax and feel the excitement now.

cazzzie987 · 03/08/2015 03:31

Chocolate, books and staying up late!

pockledigg · 03/08/2015 05:44

'Flyiing Saucer' sweets. Disc shaped UFO's made of rice paper and filled with sherbert. I remember the rice paper always stuck to the top of my mouth.

mrpeterhall · 03/08/2015 06:51

Liquorice Allsorts were the treats in my family.........but sadly no real rewards

Bellroyd · 03/08/2015 06:53

Pineapple Chunks, Kola Kubes, Blackjacks, Fruit Salad - as a special treat a large bag of popcorn for being good and doing all homework

lmk999 · 03/08/2015 07:03

We were given extra pocket money to buy Wade Whimsies from the corner shop :) I've still got them now!

libra101 · 03/08/2015 07:35

A family friend used to buy my brothers and I the Dandy and Beano comics. We couldn't wait to read them!

saurus22 · 03/08/2015 08:11

I would get 5p to go and spend in the penny sweet at the local corner shop. Simple pleasures used to love the white chocolate mice!

axegrinder · 03/08/2015 08:16

Butterscotch angel delight, heaven licking that bowl

BizziLiz · 03/08/2015 08:43

I loved getting a book token so that I could choose my own book.

createbeauty · 03/08/2015 08:51

I received lots of praise when I was good but we were poor growing up so didn't really receive "rewards". Not having a spanking was reward enough. :O

Ikea1234 · 03/08/2015 08:51

10p for ten penny sweets at the local sweet shop. The newsagent had a box on the counter, full of wrapped penny sweets that we used to rummage through and choose our favourites from.

The days when you actually got ten sweets in your 10p bag......heaven!

mrshjadams · 03/08/2015 09:00

My brother and I were allowed Kelloggs variety packs on holiday. That was always a treat as normally we weren't allowed any cereal with over 20% sugar. We used to spend hours working out a system to divide the cereals as fairly as possible but most times it ended up in a fight over who got the coco-pops!

miaow123 · 03/08/2015 09:07

We used to get a 10p mix on way home from school! I don't really remember getting toys etc... Unless Xmas, birthdays etc... But then I never wanted for anything either.

lizd31 · 03/08/2015 09:26

We weren't allowed lots of sweets or chocolates but once a week my Nana would get out her special tin from under the stairs & my sister & I could choose one bar of chocolate. My favourite was Fry's Chocolate Cream
