We’ve been asked by the team at LEGO® to find out about our Mumsnetters’ favourite treats and rewards from their childhood.

What sort of treats and rewards did you get during your childhood? Maybe you were given a chocolate bar for good school work? Or perhaps you received small toys as a reward for good behaviour? If you were a child today, what would be your ideal treat or reward? Perhaps it didn’t even exist when you were a child?

Either way, whatever childhood treats and rewards you loved before or would love now, LEGO® would like to hear about them!

Please share your thoughts on this thread and be in with the chance to win a £300 Love2Shop Voucher. Every MNer who posts a comment will be entered into the prize draw where one MNer will win the £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

We didn't get rewards, but a treat was always watermelon, eaten outside so we could compete to see how far we could spit the seeds!

My favourite treat or reward was to be allowed to choose a new Enid Blyton book. I have always been an avid reader

shivbrown · 03/08/2015 10:01

bag of penny sweets from our local shop and baking cakes with my mum :) Best reward was always quality time with my mum as she worked very hard x

If I did all my jobs I would get my £1 pocket money on a Saturday morning. I would then walk down to the newsagents, buy a Bunty and a quarter of cola pips and go home to utter bliss!

My mum bought me a packet of mini eggs after she sent me to school not realising I'd broken my arm the night before after falling over a football!!! As I was so good getting my arm bandaged up these were my reward! Or maybe it was more of a sorry?? Haha I'll never forget it xx

My Dad got paid on Thursdays and always brought home a small bag of sweets. I can remember having my nose to the window, waiting for him to come home.

Earliest memory of reward at school was a gold star in my copy book by the teacher. We also had house points awarded for good behaviour & work in middle school.

At home, reward was based on sweets, comics or stickers. A lucky dip bag was my favourite.

A new book! (and still is my favourite treat) I too loved the Enid Blyton books! Can't beat the smell of the pages from a nice new book!

ilona501 · 03/08/2015 11:30

My favourite treats were targerines and nuts, mainly at Christmas time and a cake or jelly at a Lyons corner cafe.

The ice cream van was a real treat. Nothing could beat a flake 99

babymumbles · 03/08/2015 11:43

My favourite treats was getting 50p to go down the corner shop and get penny sweets. I loved the fizzy bottles :)

carole1002 · 03/08/2015 12:18

Mojos, blackjacks and fruit salads were brought home every Friday night by my dad on his way home from work... they didn't last long with 3 of us delving in!

My parents not having much money with 6 children, we had treats of icecream, and days out to the local pool the beach and the cinema

ninamotylinski · 03/08/2015 12:42

Mcdonalds! In the 80's when I was young, to us it was such a rare occasion we went, it really was the ultimate treat, and to get to sit in the boat?! the highest achievement that made my year! Children seem to go regularly now but back then to me it was truly a special treat!

steveyh · 03/08/2015 12:45

I used to love M&S 'hula hoops' that my mum bought for me on trips to Liverpool. Used to wear them on my fingers and crunch them off!

Dizzyc73 · 03/08/2015 13:26

My favourite treat was when Mum used to give us some money to buy fizzy drinks from the van that came on to our estate. My sisters and I were able to pick our favourite bottle each, and I always picked dandelion & Burdock. We used to take the empties back to get money off the next bottle.

daysgoneby123 · 03/08/2015 13:54

£1 for some penny sweets (when they actually cost a penny) was always a nice treat!!

MillyVanilli222 · 03/08/2015 14:10

I remember we went to McDonalds once every few months if we'd been good - not the healthiest of treats but I was always so excited about my Happy Meal toy!

LuckyBluie · 03/08/2015 14:13

Kinder Surprise Eggs! Smile

devito92 · 03/08/2015 14:15

My dad would buy us ice creams on a friday night, regardless of season

bluearmy35 · 03/08/2015 14:46

My treat would be to go to the shop and buy a magazine, at the time it was Shoot and Match, or the occasional Smash Hits so i could sing along to the music with the lyrics in the magazine. Couldn't beat the free things on the front also

Maclairey · 03/08/2015 15:01

Generally Barbies or sweets! Also loved books

Nomio230 · 03/08/2015 15:15

Sweets or books. Occasionally we would go to the cinema too.
