We’ve been asked by the team at LEGO® to find out about our Mumsnetters’ favourite treats and rewards from their childhood.

What sort of treats and rewards did you get during your childhood? Maybe you were given a chocolate bar for good school work? Or perhaps you received small toys as a reward for good behaviour? If you were a child today, what would be your ideal treat or reward? Perhaps it didn’t even exist when you were a child?

Either way, whatever childhood treats and rewards you loved before or would love now, LEGO® would like to hear about them!

Please share your thoughts on this thread and be in with the chance to win a £300 Love2Shop Voucher. Every MNer who posts a comment will be entered into the prize draw where one MNer will win the £300 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

Pocket money on a Saturday if we'd been good in the week. Then the trip to the local sweetshop to collect our haul or sweets and stickers for our albums. Fab memories

Kinder eggs! The toys were so much better when I was little. Who remembers the little turtle collection?!

Liquorice13 · 02/08/2015 21:15

I got a notepad and pencil or a puzzle book. My parents had a newsagents so I got one as a reward for filling up the penny sweets

toy cars for my garage and hair bobbles

spottypjs · 02/08/2015 21:32

A book or a little treat which was a quarter of sweets from the shop. I loved it! I think they still work as treats nowadays, as long as sweets remain as treats and not just everyday things. Or little bits of stationary, like pencils, pens etc - they always go down well.

My dad bought me a lovely dolly as a bribe to stop me from having a dummy and to stop me from stealing my little brother's when they took all mine away. It didn't work!

Wagon wheels dont know if it was because I was a kid or not but they dont seem huge like they did back then mid 1980s

deanhead1 · 02/08/2015 21:41

my mum used to buy me Twinkle Magazine i love it. I was also rewarded with Enid Blyton books who i loved

skittycat · 02/08/2015 21:41

I used to get types of magazines as a treat - beano, dandy, bunty & judy. With the bunty & judy ones there used to be little short stories that were sold seperately (if I remember correctly) and I always loved getting one of those.

Apart from that, treats for us were things like fresh strawberries straight from the farm or peas shelled straight from their pods! Doesn't sound exciting now, but it was great as a child. Occasionally we would get to go to the sweet shop down the road to pick out some old fashioned sweets too.

If we were good we'd get to go to the local shop and get stickers for our sticker books - I looked forward to it all week!

castleton · 02/08/2015 21:47

My favourite treats were Smarties. I sometimes got books as a reward

carpathian · 02/08/2015 21:48

Sallyannlloydjones · 02/08/2015 21:58

Chocolate covered ice creams and comics.

malisa · 02/08/2015 22:00

New books and toys, always worked. We got a new toy for being good, not naughty. So we always tried to have good manners

pfcpompeysarah · 02/08/2015 22:00

When we used to do our weekly shop in the supermarket we were always treated to a Pralines & Cream Baskin Robbins icecream in a cone after if we behaved, we used to devour it while driving home in my dads van, also often, when I was ill, my mum would treat me to a pack of rich tea biscuits which used to make me feel better, and a comic or record I wanted.

yatota74 · 02/08/2015 22:13

I can't exactly remember anything as a reward but Saturday was our treat night and we all shared a big family bag of paprika crisps ( a favorite in Switzerland where I grew up ) I also remember my great grandmother used to keep a box of Lindor chocolates in her wardrobe and now and again as a special treat we would get one, I'm not sure how long she kept them there though as they always seemed to taste of mothballs.

risey1983 · 02/08/2015 22:14

My favourite treat / reward was sesame snaps - still get really excited when I find them in the supermarket!!!

Amyolly28 · 02/08/2015 22:20

A kitkat off my grandma! Or any coin to put in my money box :-)

emmal01 · 02/08/2015 22:21

Mint chocolate chip cornetto on a Sunday, but only if I'd been good. Never had many...

Ganne · 02/08/2015 22:24

Stoddart's lemonade tablets - they seemed to drill a hole in your tongue if you ate them whole instead of dissolving them in water

lhlee62 · 02/08/2015 22:25

I used to a few sweets when I was young, when I got older it was money which I saved up

Themilseys · 02/08/2015 22:47

We didn't really have fizzy drinks growing up but on rare occasions, my Mum would buy a bottle Cream Soda as a bit of a weekend treat. Whenever I see Cream Soda in shops, it always brings back happy memories even thought I'd never drink it now!

BlueNile57 · 02/08/2015 22:57

Scots Tablet made with fudge....still love it even now
