Nurofen for Children have asked us to find out what makes Mumsnetters and their DCs feel better when they’re feeling under the weather during the winter months.

Here’s what Nurofen says, “Both adults and children may experience a sniffle or two this winter, but the whole family wants to feel their best to make the most of the festive season. From Halloween to Christmas, there are plenty of family occasions to enjoy during the colder months and being holed up in the house is no fun for anybody. If you or your children are struck down with cold or flu, Nurofen offers a range of products to help manage both adult and child symptoms including fever, sore throats, headaches and minor body aches.”

So, what do you do to help yourself and your DCs feel better when you are (both) down with a winter bug? Do you tuck yourself under multiple covers on the couch and put on a marathon of your favourite TV show? Perhaps you have a special recipe which you reserve for when you’re feeling under the weather which you find keeps you going? Or maybe a hot bath does the trick for you and your DC? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it.

Everyone who leaves their comments below will be entered into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

MNHQ

going to bed with a tot of whisky

happysouls · 21/11/2014 14:06

Trying to ignore it I find is best, still getting out there and getting on with everything. I find I feel worse if I stay in bed. Hot drinks and snuggling in the evenings is nice though with a glass of wine or whisky!

mwatmough · 21/11/2014 15:38

Tomato soup

becskiboo · 21/11/2014 16:14

Cuddling up on the sofa watching soppy films

ellie17 · 21/11/2014 16:48

a good box set, a duvet and plenty of brews xx

serendipity1980 · 21/11/2014 16:49

We like to eat soup and jacket potato - comfort food. For activities, we like to snuggle on the sofa and watch a film!

sweetnuttydogs · 21/11/2014 19:28

Putting my onesie on, hot water bottle snuggled under the covers, with a nice hot chocolate :) and my hubby looking after me lol

Wargghhhh · 21/11/2014 19:33

We dose up, bring quilts downstairs, snuggle up in front of films, stay in our jim jams, use tissues with balm on and eat lots of chicken soup!

morethemerrier · 21/11/2014 19:55

My bed, sole responsibility for the remote control, warm socks and comfort food. Oh and not having to tackle the school run!

Aethelfleda · 21/11/2014 20:20

Bath, then snuggle on the sofa with a huge mug of tea and a fluffy blanket. Book, radio or telly as desired. With three DC getting extra sleep is not an option!!!

kirstycooper01 · 21/11/2014 20:38

This year its easy, duvet on the sofa and frozen on repeat!!!!!Frozen cures everything!

clarem100 · 21/11/2014 20:56

staceyshoes · 21/11/2014 21:54

HexBramble · 21/11/2014 23:24

Warm ribena and honey
Fluffy socks
Hot water bottle
Hugs

mindingalongtime · 22/11/2014 10:02

Heinz and only Heinz tomato soup, a childhood panacea for everything and the only time I eat it when under the weather.

hanloulou85 · 22/11/2014 10:28

Hot vimto, a duvet, my sofa and the TV...

PickledLilly · 22/11/2014 10:42

In an ideal world, hot chocolate, blanket on the sofa and a good book. In reality, you don't get time off sick from having a toddler!

TrudieForde · 22/11/2014 10:44

I feel better keeping busy, with lots of hot soup and boiled lemon and honey, and then some time to relax on the evening with some television and a hot water bottle. Home made soups are the best for those horrible winter bugs!

nonnyno · 22/11/2014 10:56

Hot honey and lemon.
Roaring open fire.
Warm layers of clothing.
Good film on TV!

ha2el · 22/11/2014 11:05

Definitely chicken soup and complete rest (sitting with legs up and duvet on sofa so that you don't get fed up with the bedroom) incorporating falling asleep with radio or TV in the background.

tabbaz123 · 22/11/2014 11:56

I actually try to make myself go outside in the fresh air, wrapped up warm of course but I believe fresh air helps. My turn to for food is always Tomato Soup. There is something warming and comforting about a bowl of tomato soup and bread.

Nataliejane88 · 22/11/2014 13:23

A hot blackcurrant drink with honey

ptak5566 · 22/11/2014 15:48

A hot toddy, a blanket and a good old fashioned film (peace and quiet would be nice too!!)
