British Turkey have asked us to find out how Mumsnetters use their leftover turkey during the festive season.

Here’s what they say, “British Turkey is a campaign to encourage people to eat more delicious British-farmed turkey both at Christmas and all year round. Turkey is a great versatile meat as it carries flavours really well, and what’s more, the breast meat is a really healthy choice as it is high in protein and lower in fat than any other mainstream meat so eating turkey makes perfect sense at family mealtimes and for those watching their weight. Look out for mince, breast fillets, steaks and diced thigh in supermarkets.

“However, Christmas is just around the corner and focus will be on buying traditional whole turkeys and large joints for the Big Day. British Turkey is here to help with everything you need to roast your turkey to perfection. We know that cooking a whole turkey for the Christmas table may seem a little daunting for some, but it certainly has its benefits. As well as having the most festive nostalgia, a whole bird is best value for money - for about the same price as a crown or a ready stuffed breast joint, you get the lovely leg meat. This means yummy cold cuts for Boxing Day and even enough leftovers enough to create a tasty dish for the freezer. So this Christmas plump for a whole turkey - you’ll get 3 meals in 1!”

So, do you buy a whole turkey for Christmas, or at another point during the season? If so, what do you do with the leftovers (or do you manage to finish the whole turkey on Christmas day?!)? Perhaps you make turkey sandwiches for lunch for the next few days? Or maybe you make a lovely turkey curry with the leftovers? Whatever it is, we’d love to hear it!

Everyone who adds their comments will be added into a prize draw to win a £250 Love2Shop voucher.

Thanks

We love left over turkey - we have turkey and leek pie, turkey curry, turkey risotto, turkey sandwiches

KittyKat88 · 13/11/2014 21:41

Always sandwiches for the first couple of days after Christmas day while it's still succulent, then usually gets added to a wholesome stew. Lovely, rich and warming it is too!

pfcpompeysarah · 13/11/2014 21:41

I either use it with salad and pickles, or in sandwiches, or best of all in a nice slowcooked curry.

I make turkey pie.
Place leftover turkey and christmas veg in a pie dish, add gravy, and top with boiled potatoes.
Break up potatoes with a fork and dot with butter and pop in oven for 25 mins.
So simple but so yummy!

Turkey sandwiches all the way!!

smamfer · 13/11/2014 21:49

On christmas day night, i make a good paste and i put the turkey in my slow cooker over night to cook for about 8 hours and turn into a fab curry, We then travel 120 miles up north to yorkshire to my cousins as they have an open house where everyone takes something and its heated up for others to share too

Lu44cyHAN · 13/11/2014 22:02

Make sandwiches with it with a pinch of salt the next day

ozbird1 · 13/11/2014 22:04

We like to have turkey sandwiches on Boxing day followed by a cracking turkey curry the next day.

jcyclops · 13/11/2014 22:10

A crown is plenty in our house. On boxing day we have cold turkey with pickles and bubble & squeak. There might be a bit left for a couple of sandwiches but then anything left on the carcass is stripped and fed to the cats.

juju3 · 13/11/2014 22:14

Eat up the white meat in sandwiches and bin the legs

miluth · 13/11/2014 22:35

I'm not a fan of roast dinners, even at Christmas, but put up with it just so I can make a Turkey Curry with the leftovers!

buckley1983 · 13/11/2014 22:38

Can't beat a fresh crusty roll filled with turkey & piccalilli on Boxing Day! Turkey curry always goes down a treat too :)

Kem99 · 13/11/2014 22:39

I usually buy too much of everything Christmas dinner including the turkey. I always buy a whole turkey as it makes the dinner feel more special. Hubby always goes back to work on Boxing Day so he always gets turkey sandwiches for his lunch.

twinklenic · 13/11/2014 22:42

We usually end up having turkey butties , turkey curry and turkey salads for the next day or two lol

tia3456 · 13/11/2014 22:52

If we have any leftovers, I use them in either a curry or a stir fry

tanyamumof3 · 13/11/2014 22:59

turkey and stuffing sandwiches can't beat em

feeona123 · 13/11/2014 23:03

miguelx · 13/11/2014 23:29

The leftovers are made into a curry and the carcas is thrown out for our friendly Gull to swallow. He taps on the window to remind us to feed him.

princesssmitheee · 13/11/2014 23:59

just make some sandwiches

melmoo · 14/11/2014 00:08

Sandwiches first then soup. The sandwiches are better than the meal!!
