We have all heard "old wives" tales about how to get pregnant and now the team at Clearblue would love to hear which ones you have heard of - and which you believe in and which are a load of tosh!

Inspired by threads like this, they'd also love you to share the myths/ pre conceived (gettit)! notions you had before you TTCed about DTD and trying to get pregnant - what was an absolute revelation to you once you entered the land of TTCing?

I heard if you push your legs back after sex you will get pregnant. Didn't work for us lol

The so called myth of relaxing and not thinking/worrying actually worked for my cousin who tried for approx. 10 years to get pregnant. She went out one night with her hubby and had some drinks, which she never did whilst trying to get pregnant. Lo and behold she fell! ;0)

The only one I can remember was to lie with pillow underneath you. Don't think it works though.

We used the Chinese predicter chart to get a girl after 3 boys!
It worked a treat!!

Obviously there is a 50:50 chance any way!

Legs up for half an hour after doing the deed!- worked for me!

Don't believe in all these certain positions to get pregnant, the most simple way worked for us both times!

Have heard of a few myths, like most others doing the 'handstand' is the first one that pops into my head, also heard of someone using tampax to try and keep it all in! but really think that you either just cross your fingers and hope it's the right time or use an ovulation chart to maximise the chances

I ate LOADS of pineapple before ovulating as recommend by a friend and ended up getting a positive result!

I have to admit I never paid any attention to any old wives tales! I knew the facts and did lots of research on appropriate sites on the internet - it took a while to conceive but I did in the end :)

A myth I believe... If you make love too often the sperm is less likely to work!!!

The myth that someone over 40 cannot get pregnant - happened for me twice, first time.

Old wives tales are a load of old tosh yes, especially when told if you want to have a boy you need to keep your legs in the air after have sex. How ridiculous!

There are many myths and old wives tales about conceiving a child, rubbing a pregnant girl's belly, for luck; stealing a pregnant girl's seat; buy your OH some boxer shorts, etc. And many people are sure that you can't fall pregnant the first time you have sex.

Wrong!!!

The best way of becoming pregnant is to be with someone you love and can relax with, and let nature take its course.

The new house, new baby saying always makes me smile. Often people do move to a new house in order to start a family, yet the old wives tale gives the impression that a new home magically provides a new baby!

My nan went into total panic mode when I planted some herbs a few years ago. She said 'if you plant parsley you will be pregnant in a year'! I wasn't though! I was pregnant the year after that though... but can't say parsley had anything to do with it!

Keeping your legs in the air for 10 minutes after the deed. Hmmm not really convinced

Always thought putting your legs in the air afterwards was pretty odd but it's still worth a good giggle! x

In all honesty, despite all the supposed methods of falling pregnant, I think the most likely and successful is to stop thinking about it.. a friend of mine was told that she would not be able to have children because of a condition with her ovaries and she gave up, and wouldn't you know it, she now has two healthy and happy children.

I always though the legs in the air makes sense, gravity helping the swimmers along....

"Throw away the ovulation sticks and just relax" I mean, does it really do any harm to know when you are ovulating? I think it is quite useful!
