The folks at Hobbycraft would love to see photos of Mumsnetters' DCs' best arts & crafts creations and hear about your DCs' favourite craft activities - so get those creative thinking caps on!

Here's what Hobbycraft say "As parents ourselves, we love discovering new ways to help the whole family enjoy some crafty fun, so whether you want to stick it, stamp it, make it or bake it, we’d love to see how you plan to make the most of the half term holidays!”

Please post a photo of one of your DC's creations and let us know why you love it.

If you don't have any photos to share, please tell us about your DCs' favourite craft activities. Are there any activities that your DCs love? Maybe you like painting together? Or perhaps your DC is a fan of using glitter as a decoration? Does your DC love to sculpt with modelling clay? Whatever your DCs' favourite activities are, Hobbycraft would love to hear about them.

Everyone who posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw, where five Mumsnetters will each receive a £100 Hobbycraft voucher.

For extra chances to win a £100 Hobbycraft voucher, why not enter Hobbycraft's competition on Mumsnet.

Please note your comments may be included on Hobbycraft's social media channels, and possibly elsewhere, so please only post if you're comfortable with this.

Thanks and good luck,
MNHQ

Bella the ballerina was constructed by my daughter using wire and papier mach. Her simple 3d form makes me chuckle and we have her sitting next to the computer. The last time we used the ginger wool for Bella's hair was when my son did a collage of an orang-utan but we saved some snippets.

Love the children getting arty - they lose themselves for a couple of hours doing their creating!

DS worked hard on his Easter bonnet- he did lots of cutting, stamping, colouring and stapling ribbon on... he's only 2!

No photos, but my DS1 loves using glitter glue whenever the opportunity arises. He also seems to be very into painting at the moment; he was painting butterflies today.

Babypip2009 · 30/05/2014 09:14

I do a lot of crafts with my DS we like to recycle and alter things. The first pic is Mother's Day cards my 4 year old made and the second is altered bulldog clips ready for his teach which we made together with my 6 year old

We love baking and crafting. This is a fairy Jess made, you can write on the back and use them as christmas cards that can hang on the tree.

To make the fairy, its a triangle for the body, ribbon with some beads threaded on for the legs. Round circle for the head, rounded triangle for hair, bendy straw to hold wings cellotaped on the back of the bode. Winds where old lace curtain

DS1 (age9) has the most incredible talent for plasticine and fimo clay modelling and we are always amazed at how accurate he gets the character faces. DS idolises Nick Park and is always making little stop-start animation films with his models; he made a proper Morph last half term but it got squashed under a toy box – thankfully we have film evidence of it's existence!

I’m forever popping his fimo creations in the oven to bake after cooking dinner but have to make sure we don’t get a rogue plasticine one in amongst them – cooked plasticine smells a bit like burning tyres!

We are definitely ‘regulars’ at our local Hobbycraft and always get a cheery ‘Hello!’ from the staff.

Here are 3 of 4 pics DS has chosen for the competition - am going to have to post the 4th straight after!

My 4 year old loves anything crafty, and drawing is her absolute favourite. We bought some amazing fabric pens from Hobbycraft, and cheap white t shirts from the pound shop. This is one of her creations...

Hobbycraft is my DD's favourite shop. We can go in together for a tube of glue and some glitter and come out an hour later with two carrier bags full of felt, paper, stamps, ink pads, paints, craft kits, pompoms, brushes, tissue paper, stickers plus glue and glitter in every colour. She gets round me because it's always things that she needs "for her homework!"

I'm always amazed with the things she makes. I remember a kangaroo (and Joey) she made out of layers of paper and hundreds of small sticky pads. The finished creation was 3D and I've no idea where she got the idea from. She's recently been making a family of paper dragon puppets which take up rather too much room in her already cluttered bedroom for my liking. But they are lovely.

The picture I'm posting is of a bedroom she created. She chose all the papers, felt and bits and bobs from Hobbycraft. The only help she had was some of the more fiddly cutting out. The rest of it was all her own work. I'm always intrigued to see what she's going to come up with next.

I have tried to pass on my love of crafts as much as possible to my DS, as I would like him to be at least a bit self sufficient and make gifts for other people instead of opting for shop-bought all of the time, and it is also nice to make your own toys (as I do) and ornaments. I don't have any photos to hand (I'm not at home at the moment) but I have given him cheap canvases with paint, sand and glue to mess about with, as well as salt dough which we have baked in the oven. Also, inspired by a news article I seen a year or two ago, I have coloured in the outlines of drawings he has done and vice versa, which makes for some funny pictures on the fridge. I am thinking of introducing needle felting but that won't be for a few years yet!

We love crafting, but I lack imagination so the kits I can get from hobbycraft are a godsend.

I stock up on a few at the beginning of each school holiday.

Our latest creations are a fathers day card and dd (6) is just learning cross stitch.

We've also got a passion for baking (and eating).

The only downside to crafting is he amount of cupboard space taken up by tissue paper, stickers, scraps of ribbon, piles of glitter and other random 'just in case' flotsam.

Dd's, top one is dd 6 yrs

Bottom one is dd aged 9 for a mad hatters tea party recently.

My girls live sticking and creating collages, well often have a morning at hobby craft to choose arts and crafts materials.

Made these cress heads with 3yo DD. Haven't made them since I was at primary school about 300 years ago! We also love collages and making flower pictures out of hand and footprints which also allows the baby to join in.

This is my son with a caterpillar puppet he made - he had lots of fun making it and lots of fun playing with it. It has a clay head made from air drying clay which he loves to use, googley eyes and antennae made from pipe cleaners, the body is made from bits of scrap material threaded on to string with pieces of straw in between and two pieces of wood, one tied on each end to be the puppet handles. The caterpillar can bounce along... Great fun as you can see by his smile! It is also good for learning patience as each piece has to be threaded separately and good for hand skills.

As my son gets older I thought it would be more difficult to get him to be creative, but now that I have found the B&Q kids club, and Hobby Craft Kids workshops there is no stopping him.
Here he is making pom poms after we went into Hobby Craft at Half Term. These are super easy to make, and we have found all sorts of colour combinations. He wanted to store his Pom Poms in a box, so here is one he made at B&Q kids can do it, and it works perfectly, and is super smart. These are all his own work, and he really enjoyed the break from playing computer games.

This is a work in progress by my elder daughter (aged 15). Her younger sister is always drawing and making things, and she tends to express her creative side more in music. I love this because this is her first try at crochet and despite the wiggly edges, she has carried on with it through dark days of mental illness. Helpimg her learn brought us closer when we had no words. She has put it aside for now while she concentrates on GCSEs but the other day she remembered it and wants to finish it after exams.

This is dd's (aged 11) latest crochet project. It will, when she made more squares, become a cushion cover. She was taught the basics at school as part of their inter generational learning project. She will also be taught how to knit, do gardening and do basic joinery by the OAP'S who come into school.
