The time has come for the insight team at MNHQ to do our annual round up of the year, to plead for those of you not yet on our panel to sign up and to thank you all for taking part in some amazing projects this year!

(In case you don't know insight covers surveys, product events, product tests and sponsored threads on MN, as well as bloggers reviews, and reviewers recruitment)

Let us know what you think on this thread and you could win another prize!

We've got the following to give away....

~ A George Foreman entertaining 10 portion grill & griddle worth £69.99

~ £100 to spend on Method products for a shiny and squeaky clean-up in your home

~ Four sharing packs of Magnum chocolates worth £24 each.

All details are here: www.mumsnet.com/surveys/insight-annual-roundup-2013

In 2013 we have given away over £38,000 worth of prizes in the form of vouchers, books, beauty products, hampers and technology.

You have tested over £75,000 worth of products - including thoroughly testing the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, busting bugs with Lyclear and getting 'touched-up' clean with Mr Muscle!
We've gone all creative with food and leftovers with some amazing creations for Cadbury Pebbles, cooked once/ eaten twice with Colman's and even tried out pans for Tesco and Fissler

We've given hundreds of you a sneak preview of top kids movies: Cloudy2 and Despicable Me 2

On cars - MNers have been busy trying out the Toyota Verso, Toyota Auris hybrid and Toyota RAV4 - check out the videos here

And you've been sharing tips, experiences and comments on sponsored threads on everything from garden make-overs for B&Q, summer feet prep for Clarks, gluten free baking with Mrs Crimble to hot drinks for Tassimo Smile

What have you enjoyed taking part in this year? Or appreciated reading about? What would you like us to product test next year?

Most of the product tests are on site but we also do a lot of projects with our lovely research panel, as well as often giving them the heads up about the latest things and chances to win on site. If you are not yet on our panel please see this link for more info or to sign up. You can select how often you get emailed and you can leave at any time if it's not for you.

So to win one of the lovely prizes please do one of the following:
~ Post on this thread about what you've enjoyed doing insight-wise this year or what you've appreciated reading about
~ Post on the thread any suggestions for product tests etc you'd like to see next year (no promises but we can try!)
~ Join the panel

Lastly - it's with much sadness that we report KatieBMumsnet is sadly off to pastures new at the end of the year Sad.

Thanks as ever for your time and feedback - all very much welcome Xmas Grin

I don't think we were chosen to review anything either Sad I love the idea of real people testing stuff! I'd love to take part in a camping equipment test or cars/furniture.

A lot all of the "things you can go to" tests are out of the question due to long school hours and DH and I both working full time, but I am OK with that as they are better done by people with more time.

Tests like cleaning products always welcome and seem to be the only ones I get picked for it's like MNHQ can see the state of the house (touch up cleaner is good. Cif cream less so) but I would be deeply thrilled to be asked to test a new Roomba any form of cleaning appliance as those are things that we really need to replace but there are always higher priorities.

Cars and the like fall back into the "best left for those who have time". I barely have time to feed my car (and never time to clear it out Blush) so I don't think I would put the time in to do a test justice really, plus I have a horror of being videoed so wouldn't ever do something which involved that.

I agree with comments about food tests - they all seem to have been various forms of "instant" food/sauce/whatever this year (apart, debateably, from chocolate porridge, which my DC hated Sad) - some tests of "real food" would be good.

I've not been selected this year Xmas Sad clearly too many people signing up.

But in the past I've enjoyed food tests and more food tests would be great. Especially chocolate Xmas Grin

I've enjoyed being on the chocolate panel! Would love to test cleaning products, electrical products, toddler toys!

All I ever get to test is cleaning products! There must be a spy camera on my laptop.

Birnamwood · 19/12/2013 09:53

I didn't get chosen :(

I've filled in loads of surveys etc, some of which were quite tedious but they have to be done.

For next year...more electrical cleaning items (steam mops, hoovers etc and toys games for older children, and also what about testing apps for children, especially educational ones?

I tested peanut butter and it was delicious. Thank you for offering us the chance to volunteer!
In terms of testing, I'd love to test kitchen gadgets, which are my weakness. I'd also be happy to road test recipes. Oh and days out. And 'proper food' eg cheese rather than cheese strings, for instance.

I would never ever say no to any chocolate testing...

Good luck KatieB!

I have enjoyed testing a few things this year, cif, which I always loved when it was Jif, Method cleaner, not so good, nasty smell, a "hamper" from P & G so tried fairy capsules, but they mess up my washing machine door seal, the children loved the chocolate from the tasting and enjoyed helping do the surveys.

I'd love more gadgets to test, also would love a car test , particularly 7 seaters, as too loyal to one make and could do with my eyes being opened to cheaper alternatives!

I love filling out the surveys, but some of the information required is always the same which is repetitive.

Bring them on, happy christmas and thank you for all the opportunities!

I've really enjoyed the chocolate panel possibly too much

Obviously I loved the parcel of goodies which arrived a few weeks ago, but I also really enjoyed giving feedback on product ideas. It was an interesting process.

Absolutely loved the palmers rose oil trial - it's not the sort of thing I would normally buy for myself, but have had much pleasure in using it since.

Would like to see more beauty product tests next year.

MNHQ - how do I know if I've joined the panel? I can't seem to remember if I signed up or not Blush

Bye and good luck KatieB!

I got to test a frying pan which is still regularly used - many thanks.
And we loved doing the pebble cake decorating.

DS won a bag of books from filling in a survey about books, they arrived yesterday and he is so excited. He asked me to say a special thank you.

I'd be very happy to get to test more chocolates next year!

I haven't been able to take part in any tests so far. Next year I hope to be eligible to take part in something. Any everyday essential would be great to test. I love finding new foods for my baby to try and any product that makes life easier really.

I haven't been selected for any product tests as yet but have enjoyed completing the surveys. I would love to test out family toddler friendly days out in the future.

I found the product testing on the steam cleaners interesting (would have liked to be chosen to trial that one) and have enjoyed using the Sainsbury's gift card I got for entering a survey.

I also think that there are probably sufficient MNers to do events that are not London-centric... There is life in the north - and the north doesn't always equate to Manchester - Leeds is not too bad to get to from Newcastle, York, Hull, Sheffield, Bradford (or even Manchester!).

Good luck in your new job KatieB - I'm sure that the gin will not flow as freely though.

I've done loads of surveys this year but haven't been selected to test anything. Apart from Flora, but never got the voucher.

I'd like to test a luxury holiday, either Costa Rica or The Maldives would be fine. Grin

What have you enjoyed taking part in this year?
We were lucky enough to go to Cadburys World back in February. DDs are still talking about that.

Or appreciated reading about?
The comments on EE. I was very glad I was warned off as I was just about to sign a 2 year contract!

What would you like us to product test next year?
Anything to do with cooking or food! Or, health and beauty products.

CatAmongThePigeons · 19/12/2013 10:05

I have tested a few bits this year, including Tesco school uniform (its still going strong!), Walkers crisps and visiting an NT property, still waiting for Flora. Wink

I love the variety offered so would love to see more of the same but it would be great if there could be more events scattered across the country ahem South West ahem

Good luck and thank you KatieBMN. Thanks Don't forget You can check-out any time you like,
But you can never leave! Grin

Merry Christmas!

What have I enjoyed taking part?
Sadly I only was chosen for a couple of tests inc colemans sauces. There's nothing much to say other than I am here waiting and a thorough tester who adds detailed reviews. Its just sad you don't use me more.

Reading about?
Any funny stories are useful when I am having a tpugh day or to perk me up after another disturbed night!

Test next year?
Anything and everything as not only do I love doing it and have plenty of time for it but the more tests means more reviews so we all buy with confidence knowing that it is the right product forst time for us so less unwanted unnecessary spending.

I've enjoyed being involved, haven't won anything but am hoping next year! The chocolate panel has been fun, nice to see new and exciting products and the choc through the post was a nice surprise. You had a nice range of product tests available this year, so keep it up! the voucher incentives are always good so more of those pls :o) thanks.

My highlight this year was also finding out how family friendly Butlins are. It was a wonderful weekend and I will be taking the kids again next year (and possibly DH this time too).
I won some vouchers for a Toyota survey which was also a lovely treat!
We tested the Schwartz 2in1 sachets which were very tasty.

I love reading the car reviews - and watching them! I would like to see more big cars needing to be reviewed next year please! I need to upsize and could do with a bit more inspiration. Perhaps a Range Rover?!

I also agree that food and drink tests are great. I am looking forward to the Knorr one I have just been lucky enough to get picked for.

A long-running cook/bakeware test would be great. I need some things that might actually still be useable after a year!

Oh yes, spa reviews would be very pleasant too please!

Thanks Mumsnet for a great year! (especially Butlins)

I didn't really do any testing this year - not chosen SOB! - but I answered lots of surveys, so entered lots of competitions though I didn't win - double SOB!

I did very much enjoy the secret mission I was involved with though and the thank you pack was very much appreciated :)

Happy Christmas everyone and best of luck KatieMumsnet

I didn't really get picked much either but I'm always happy to do surveys and to be honest I've been so busy with family in less etc that I've probably not joined in as much as I could.
I will do even more next year!!!!
Happy to trial anything although I do like to involve the family so a car one would be fab!?!? Wink
Or a holiday Grin

Good luck katiebmumsnet xxxxx

The things where we get to test something are the best of all! Even if it's only something little (I did washing liquid once), it's fun to try something different.

I think all the insight stuff has been interesting. The wholewheat challenge was good as it prompted me to think about healthier options that can be incorporated easily, which is always useful but not something I tend to sit down and do otherwise. Likewise the current fish discussion.

It would be good to have some toys to test for the kids, maybe more clothes for the kids too?

Report
Bonzodoodah · 19/12/2013 10:23

I tried to get on the testing panels for quite a few things but failed miserably. Would have liked to have seen Despicable me but we were away that weekend too.

I like looking at the car reviews, and like the food trials too. Although that really is quite subjective.

Next year? I'd LOVE to test any cars or smart phones or tablets or high tech stuff that you'd let us keep afterwards wishful thinking
