The folks at Asda would like to know how you accessorise and personalise the different rooms in your home.

Here's what Asda have to say, "We've recently launched our Autumn / Winter Home catalogue in store and online at Asda Direct, full of inspiration for your home at affordable prices. With more than 1000 stylish solutions for your home, we're interested to find out how you accessorise and personalise your home"

So how do you refresh the rooms in your home? Do you add cushions and candles or replace furniture and repaint? Does each room have a particular colour scheme or do you prefer the white, minimalist look? Do you re-arrange or re-accessorise the rooms in your home often, or have they looked the same for the past few years? Is there a particular room youre especially proud of?

Please also take a look at Asda's Autumn / Winter Home Collection and let us know if theres anything that inspires you to get creative in your home

Whatever you do to personalise and accessorise your rooms, we'd love to hear about it.

Everyone who adds their thoughts and ideas will be added into a prize draw to win a £200 Asda Direct voucher.

Thanks and good luck,

Sometimes I don't even mean to coordinate, I just see bits I like, cushions, new lamps, candles and find out it kind of themes without me deliberately doing it.
I'm always looking for a a bargain so they can be replaced when something else catches my eye.

We use large glass plates, filled with bits and pieces and ornaments - candles, glass bobbles, grey pebbles, sea shells etc. A real mixture of textures - hard, soft, rough, silky, and all in neutral tones. Adds sophistication and yet easy to put together!

our house is very much a work-in-progress, over the past few years I think we've mainly been accessorizing with babies/children! :) I try to keep ornaments/knickknacks to a minimum as I hate moving things to clean surfaces. I do like to have family photos on the walls - DH also moans that I have too many clocks, but I do like to have at least 1 in each room!

In the bedrooms, I do find changing the bedcovers makes a huge difference and can make the room feel much more welcoming without much effort.

I can't redecorate as that is down to my landlord (and I am still waiting!) I hate my carpets so I have spruced them up at least with rugs. I put art prints and photos up on the walls to make the place more personal and I like to have scented candles and fresh flowers in my dining room which improve the atmosphere

I tend to add 'things' like ornaments or candle holders when I need 'extra's' but right now I'm looking to do a lot of work to my house, so there will be some big changes such as curtains in bedrooms and lounge, new flooring in one bedroom and the lounge. Some cushions for beds and sofa. I will very likely buy a lot of extras. I have bought a new oak console table and nest of 3. I wont be replacing my lovely 30 year old leather suite though... never!!

We are just about to freshen up our place up over the next few months! We've been here for 5 years now and it's all getting a bit tired!

My plan is to work around the colour scheme of carpets and key items of furniture, but then add some new colours with curtains, blinds, cushions art work and ornaments!

DS room needs an overhaul and I am going to rearrange the furniture and make it a bit more grown up for him, making it into a chilling out space as well as somewhere to sleep. Now that he is older and has more friends dropping in they need somewhere (that isn't my lounge!) to hang out. I think I will get bean bags, cushions to go on his bed to make it more sofa like in the day and a mass clear out of toys that he hasn't played with for years!

I love a good redo of the rooms, it feels like you have a whole new place!

I think its boring to have a house that stays the same but to avoid spending a fortune on redecorating I stick to neutral walls, floor and expensive pieces of furniture and then change the colours of the cushions. pictures and other accessories whenever I fancy it or according to the season even!

I use accessories to change a rooms look. my fave is the bathroom which is all neutral. I have red candles, towels and bathmats and flowers usually but also have a set of bright green when I get bored with the red. Last month I changed again as I found a great (cheap) zebra bathmat, struggled to find any zebra accessories so bought some zebra printed card and cut out shapes which I stuck on plain black accessories, I have a tall vase of flowers with a long oblong of zebra stuck on, a candle holder with the same and a soap dispenser all decorated, it was simple and cheap and the bathroom looks all fresh and funky. even my DS2 (17) said 'hey, I like what you've done with the bathroom mum' praise indeed.

I don't need to "accessorise", I have too much stuff and need to get some help for a good clear out.

My main method of personalizing are picture and books.

The outdoor storage boxes would be quite useful, particularly at this time of year to pack up some of the garden stuff. The garden's really the only space I can imagine wanting to do up.

Also, the advent house is very sweet, but it would be nice if the image could either be rotated or there were more pictures to see the other sides of it.

We tend to keep decor pretty neutral but then add colour with accessories, cushions, rugs, vases etc. when I get bored I change the accessories to a different colour.

When we want to refresh a room in the house, we usually repaint it. We tend to use neutral colour, some blue and green though. I don't like a minimalist scheme, I like some ornaments. I like to see some of the children's items. I like nature inspired wallpaper and accessories.

I re-arrange and tidy when i clean the rooms. New storage for particular areas, can have a big impact. I like my bathroom best it has wooden panelling.

I'm currently moving from an entirely magnolia house, to personalising each room. It always starts with sample pots of paint. Dozens of them. Then we move from there.

I currently struggling with the hall colour!

Refresh rooms by changing cushions, throws or bedding. These are the only things to change easily as have wood floors and white painted walls. Don't change furniture as it is too expensive and our furniture is fairly classic. All our rooms are white apart from DD's bedroom in the obligatory pink. Rooms have been the same but only renovated in the last 1-2 years. Especially proud of the front room - oak floors, glossy grey furniture, really comfy recliner sofas, wood burner and rustic brick fireplace and nice stone shaggy soft rug.

How I like to personalise my rooms is changing curtains, cushion & rugs. I also like to rearrange my furniture a lot (1 of my best friends actually commented last week that I must have OCD when it comes to furniture position as every time she comes over I have rearranged all my furniture!) I also like to change the pictures around a lot Smile

We mostly just repaint, recycle and use all sorts of nick nacks we've acquired over the years from travels or gifts or things we've inherited. In the last few years we've mostly just refreshed rooms when they've really needed it rather than actively trying to alter the design to improve the look of our rooms.

We have been in our house for a couple of years and laziness plus budget means we are slowto change things. Our style seems to generally be plain cream walls with one feature wall of colour or wallpaper and then we tie in soft furnishings to go with the feature wall. Our furnititure is mainly second hand or quite old with the odd chair or bit of storage from ikea but I like to think the overall effect is a nicely lived in family home.

We have an ASDA home store quite near us and I have spent quite a bit of time there! I particularly like the bedding which is fantastic value and looks good. We recently got the clara blueberry set for dh and I. For kids I don't like all the branded stuff like hello kitty etc but have the Whimsical stuff for dd which has a slightly cath kidston look to it.

We prefer plain-ish walls, and DC's art rotated every so often. We're becoming more minimal with our own stuff (no sparkly twigs and stuff, no unnecessary scatter cushions etc), though I do think the various toys all about add a certain dash of colour! Same for all the DC's books - really make the place look characterful.

I personalise by using a mixture of things rather than copying out right an idea from a catalogue, magazine etc. artwork is impor tent for us. places we've been, words that mean a lot to us etc. I accessorise with cushions, throws candles that I can change for the season.

Wow how affordable and I feel inspired by the catalogue. Since having my little girl, the accessories tend to be toys, as I packed away most of our accessories. Think I need to take some action!

I'm in rented accommodation and on a limited budget, so to an extent there's a limit to what I can do - for instance, repainting the walls simply isn't an option.

I've done up some second hand furniture, to supplement what the landlord provided - so far I've done a bookshelf, coffee table, chest of drawers and full length mirror. I find that it helps to have something that you've made to your own spec - at least it doesn't look like it's come straight from Ikea, even if it did start life there!

When it comes to accessorising, I like to buy prints from local artists and then buy frames (the cheaper the better...) and hang them on the walls. I like to think that it helps me avoid looking like I'm in a student house - posters can have that effect.

I suppose my overall style, though, is to only buy things that I fall in love with when I see them - I don't buy things for the sake of it unless I can avoid it. I figure that if I love every piece, I'll love the room as a whole (within reason!)

I like things tidy and uncluttered so when a re-vamp is needed it's just usually the curtains, cushions, throw and a few small accessories. Like things to match vaguely but not look too contrived. And then there are the few old things that I always keep that are fairly neutral, like crystal candle holders and a black stone cat that was a wedding present.

I don't redecorate much. I tend to follow the stately home thing of allowing my furnishings to gently age Grin. I have a mix of contemporary and modern. I have acquired the ubiquitous Ercol chair from ageing relatives bemused by its now hipster credentials. I have the Josef Frank fabrics a la Scandi and do like this aesthetic but am too much of a magpie.

Our kitchen table bought at auction on a Christmas Eve and is the heart of our home. (The other bidders took pity on us when we told them we had 12 to lunch for Christmas and no table and didn't bid against us!) I'm not one for fussy tableware and drapery. DH goes a little mad at Christmas. This is his intended Christmas table decor and I like this and this for Christmas.

I buy large throws and blankets, put down rugs and change the art around. Simply rehanging a painting or photograph in a different place can make all the difference. I have recently added bright velvet cushions in acid yellow and pink and bright blue and lime to one of my sitting rooms to contrast with a pink velvet sofa. I don't have brightly coloured walls. I have also pasted some bright floral wallpaper onto the panelled door of the chimney breast side cupboards. That looks good.

I do have a 'thing' about having books on display. I love my rooms lined with book shelves which have all manner of oddness on display amid the many books- We have a 'Cupboard of Shit', a glassed in display of the kitsch (stuffed Potato Man toys and Pear Lady; Taxidermy and a large Fossil from Brazil, Freak Brothers figurines and cartoon books, crap shell art from 70's seaside shops) and plenty of other items.

Bedrooms again benefit from having fireplaces which tend to be decor in themselves. I have given in to an 'accent' wall painted in deep burgundy in our bedroom and we have navy and white geometric small print bedding. We spend a lot on our bedding.

We are about to redecorate our oldest sons bedroom. He is buying himself a new bed and we will help him paint and lay a new carpet. We tend to have neutral walls because colour dates so quickly. I like the sealed bare plaster look.

I do like that Palm Beach/Miami aesthetic with Tropical prints/plam leaf prints like this and this but what i aspire to most is this but with more books on the shelving. I am also a fan of Paisley fabrics.

Several of our rooms have bare sealed brick walls. They look fantastic. I love them. Here is one of them.

DH is a former RMN turned owner of building company so we do it all ourselves or get mates at mates rates to do wiring/plumbing.

I like matching frames on the wall for pictures/holiday snaps etc, buy a job lot and fill them up as you go, or choose black/ or white simple frames to keep everything uncluttered, but still have lots of lovely memories up on the wall. I take b + w photos wherever we've been in the world so that we can remember some great holidays. I also have art made for me by friends, that always makes me smile when I look at it, all in similar style frames.
