The folks at Asda would like to know how you accessorise and personalise the different rooms in your home.

So how do you refresh the rooms in your home? Do you add cushions and candles or replace furniture and repaint? Does each room have a particular colour scheme or do you prefer the white, minimalist look? Do you re-arrange or re-accessorise the rooms in your home often, or have they looked the same for the past few years? Is there a particular room youre especially proud of?

I really don't have an eye for interior design so I keep things plain and neutral. Unfortunately with v young DCs this means my house gets grubby a lot and I have house envy of those with beautiful interiors. I try to mimic the principal of a neutral background then a brightly coup lured rug / curtain / cushions. But it all disappears under a mountain of kids toys and washing

Pictures and wall art here too. I also like to have the DC's artwork around. I need to update more often but time and money are an issue for us along with many others!

I refresh the rooms by repainting when we can afford it and when we have help with shifting furniture. I think it makes a difference.

Our bedroom and our teeny office and bathroom are usually clutter free, tidy and minimalist but others especially living room and children's rooms are colourful and more cluttered.

The rooms have basically stayed the same.

We have plain walls and neutral carpets. We have personalised our house with lots of -kids drawings - original art and framed photos.
Our furniture is mostly miss matched and second hand , it looks cosy and lived in and very unlike a show house.

I like to start off each room with a fairly neutral 'theme' colour on the walls then add matching/contrasting bits that catch my eye. For example, I've just painted new baby's nursery a very pale blue/grey, furniture is all pine (although all collected over the years so not matching as such), and now I'm keeping an eye out for little bits and pieces to personalise it. I've got some blue and white wooden bunting to go on the front of shelves that DH is putting up when he gets home from work and got a 'project' chair to strip and repaint, I need curtains and some pictures etc.

I would like to have a theme in each room, but just can't seem to afford to have the whole house done. We do one room at a time. Usually a themed or feature wall with a good bit of colour and the rest is fairly neutral with colour added in accessories to match the feature wall.
The kitchen is a bright colour throughout as I feel it makes it look inviting.

The bathrooms are pretty basic as I'm not really one for spewing more than half hour in there if I can help it.

Kids rooms are bright and functional with lots of storage (best way to help them keep it tidy!!!)

We tend to keep key furniture pieces neutral colours so whenever the walls/carpets change it all ties in quite easily! I love rustic natural earthy tones so have a huge tan leather sofa and oak furniture then throw in colour with cushions, accessories etc. personalising our home is full of photos of family, places we have visited and lots of kids paintings and artwork!

I'm trying to smarten things up on a very low budget. I've found a lick of paint and some carefully chosen accessories really help.

I got some nice cardboard storage boxes from Asda direct recently with a really pretty bird design. They look smart and do the job really well at a good price.

I try to look out for individual things I like, whether new or boot sale bargains to fit with what I like rather than putting together a set theme or style as such.

My daughters room is the odd one with lilac walls and stripe curtains, bedding and loads of cushions as her bed in a variety of shades as it is a day bed. Posters everywhere...
Every other room has cream walls and wood floors so i usually then change colour of throws, curtains, bedding - rugs in living room. then co ordinate with natural colour ornamental items here and there - as I hate clutter!!
Lots of pictures on walls as they really stand out on cream back ground.

We're in the process of preparing to sell at the moment, so when we redecorated at the start of the year we stuck to light, neutral walls.

As a result, I've spent a little bit of money on accessories to brighten the place up a bit - cushions, throws, a couple of prints, and some houseplants to add a bit of greenery.

I was really surprised at the quality of the plain cushions in Asda. I'd binned our very old, child-wrecked cushions and bought some new ones in chocolate and a turquoisy/jade blue. For £4 each they're a bargain, and don't feel any cheaper than the £20 a pop John Lewis ones they were replacing.

We got some poster collage prints from Snapfish of the last few years' holiday photos to hang in cheap clip frames in the kitchen. They look great and are a really good way of bringing back some lovely memories.

Now I just have to try to keep the plants alive .

I paint murals, and occasionally strip back furniture and paint that to match too. It would be great to be able to personalise furniture, for instance having a choice of handles for drawers or have some stickers or a stencil set and paint, I usually have to buy second hand furniture to customise as I find the newer stuff is no use for that.

We rent so can't do much, but have added our own throws/pillows to the sofas and hung our own paintings and my mask collection.

I also have a need to organize, so I have lots of baskets and boxes for things to be sorted into, or even just thrown into when Granny shows up unexpectedly.

My husband tells me I have a duvet cover addiction and we do have a lot of them. It's such an easy way to change the look of the bedroom.

That being said, I love the vintage rose duvet set.

I've always liked Dudley Moore's character's bedroom in Foul Play, complete with silk sheets, a mirrored ceiling and a disco ball.

But as I'm not this daring/ garish, I do like to jazz things up with sparkles and animal print around my flat. Anything with diamantes is good in my book, and I've just recently bought a load of sequinned photo frames. But to keep the OH happy everything else is simple, neutral and tasteful. I am a fan of wicker chairs and baskets, I think they look really homely.
My bathroom is quite different from the rest of the rooms, it has a sort of a nautical feel about it. I like to pick up nik-naks from time to time, so I have little wooden boats from the local maritime museum gift shop sitting on the shelf.
Basically I think little accents and adornments really make a home and look good against a clean, neutral backdrop. Obviously smell is quite important, and I think candles not only look good, but the right one can make a house a home. One of my favourites is cookies and cream

I don't go in for themes, and my ornaments are a random selection of things I've collected. I have them because I like them, not because I want to make a statement or keep up with interior design fads.

I do like scented candles though, and like then to be seasonal. Light and fruity I'm warmer months, spicier in colder months.

We have white walls throughout with random feature walls in different colours around the house (currently grey, red and damson) these colours are used for blinds/curtains and cushions too to tie the rooms together and make the house look more "put together" rather than a series of totally different rooms.

We also accessorize with rugs, lamps, pictures on the walls and candles. No plants as I kill them! And the soil is just asking to be dug in by the children...

Both the childrens rooms have wall stickers too, giant feature ones, these are great as change the look of the room for little money and can easily be removed in the future.

when we moved in we painted the same colour throughout, the same carpet throughout and the same curtains throughout, for speed and for cheapness. Now 7 years later, and one XH later, I am trying to make small changes. I am looking to buy a new sofa at some point, but for now, you can make small changes with cushions and throws.

My bedroom has been changed by changing the curtains and duvet covers. It gave it a fresh clean feel and I could have what I wanted instead of keeping it neutral for XH.

I want to change the curtains in the living room next so that it feels different. My living room is literally the main room in the house as the kitchen is so small.

I so want to redecorate our sitting room, in gorgeous silver greys and duck egg blue... But my youngest DC is 3, developmentally delayed, awaiting ASD diagnosis and climbs. Everywhere. So lots of wipe clean surfaces and no accessories allowed! I compensate with soft furnishings!

I can't wait to have sculptures and art scattered around again.. One day..

In terms of home accessories I'm not a fan of nicnacs. They just add clutter and collect dust. I do however like textiles such as rugs, cushions and curtains as I feel they add warmth and depth to a room.

I also like wall mounted stuff as I have a small house and these add interest to a room without taking up any space. In my kitchen I have a big colourful canvas that brightens the room up, and in my living room a large mirror which lightens the room a little more.

I've had a look on the website but it was moving extremely slowly so I gave up. However I did like the printed bright bread bin, white tin with yellow writing on - I'm quite tempted by that for my kitchen.

I like colour so carpets and curtains, bedspreads, cushions and throws are all a green, gold, red country house theme. Love rich patterns and textures - possibly not high fashion but hopefully classic.

I get loads of quality bits and pieces from eBay and some lovely pictures at antiques fairs.

We have to make sure everything is 'child proof' at the moment as we have a 15 month old who is into absolutely everything. I like to add soft furnishings and use different textured textiles. Symmetry is always a must though!. I also love good quality scented candles.

My favourite bit of accessorising in our house is the paintings a friend did for DD's room - they spell her name and really complement the colours in her room.
